Cheng, you owe a lot of people
an apology
IT was most unsavoury for Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCIM) president Tan Sri William Cheng to drag the Chinese business community into the MCA political arena.
Taking a combative stand against MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, he has broken the cardinal rule of remaining neutral.
Never in its history has the ACCIM taken a political stance, siding any faction in political battle.
ACCIM’s role is to take care of the business community and to speak up against wrongdoings, and fighting corrupt practices that affect the country’s business climate.
I am shocked that Cheng, whom I have known for decades, has involved himself and the ACCIM in politics at a time when it should play the role of mediator for the Chinese community.
It was only about two months ago when I had to persuade him to mediate between the warring factions of the 60-year-old Chinese political party. Cheng declined, saying businessmen should remain apolitical.
I was therefore surprised when I heard about Cheng’s tirade against MCA and its president.
I was then in New York as a member of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s Foreign Direct Investment delegation when Cheng accused Ong of doing nothing for the Chinese community since becoming president in October last year. He also described Ong as a non-performer.
Ong, being Chinese-educated, has been in touch with Chinese guilds and associations since his days as MCA Youth chief in the 1980s.
After being elected president, Ong made it a point to lead by example — to fight corruption and injustice not only in society but also in business.
He could have chosen an easy life by ignoring the mounting woes of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) multibillion-ringgit fiasco. But he chose to expose the irregularities and recover RM1.64bil in taxpayers’ money.
Instead of focusing on this noble fight against graft, a big headache for investors and businessmen too, Cheng chose to take sides and confuse the issues afflicting the Chinese community and the nation in general.
Why he changed his stance, only God and he will know.
I wonder whether Cheng has been misled, or has he decided to venture into his own political-and-business agenda, using ACCIM for reasons best known to himself.
Despite being a political leader under siege, Ong returned from London last week with a hard-fought seat for Malaysia in the influential International Maritime Organisation.
MCA’s current situation is getting more confusing daily. Cheng should not use ACCIM to further confuse the situation which can only cause critical damage to a party that has represented and fought for the rights of the Chinese community, and Malaysians in general, since the country’s independence.
Tan Sri, please get your facts and priorities right. Don’t deviate and confuse.
I pray that Cheng has not been influenced by those with vested interests to subvert the healing process of the MCA. He owes an explanation to the Chinese community and rakyat for his shocking and unsubstantiated outbursts against the MCA.

So WC has no choice but to do what he did. And in the process, he dragged ACCIM into the muddy cesspool.
I kinda pitty ACCIM (which I am not a member, btw) ... why in the world you guys elect such a person to be your leader?
At least MCA fairs better, they have OTK.

It is very wrong of him to use ACCIM to try to bring down OTK. I hope all other members will not let him drag ACCIM into it.

He said he is willing to risk his own future just to make sure that the dignity of MCA be uphold.
OTK said that certain party wants to terminate his term as Minister of Transportation, and say that he is not afraid of losing his ministerial statue.
And OTK also iterate that there are threats on his life.
Again OTK states that he is not afraid.
As long as MCA's dignity is upheld, he (OTK) is willing to risk it all.
Yes, this is the OTK we know and this is why we support OTK.
A stern warning to LTL, WKS and even to WC:
Do not ever think that you will have a bright future if you ever topple OTK.
We Chinese community will see to it that you guys will be punished.
Kalambong, if what you said is true of OTK's stand, everyone will know the intergrity of OTK. As a non MCA member I supported his stance fully. We all need this kind of character that defy in the face of losing position and all risks just to fight the corrupted evil forces in the guise of elected members of parliament with kings/rulers and the all powerful. But make sure he is well protected. I do not want him to lose his li.. it's not time. I am sure he will be the most prized MP for the Chinese better thn PR. Mon

ReplyDeleteSo I called up my friend in Ipoh who attended the function, and he confirmed it that yes, OTK said all that last night !
It takes a man like OTK to cut TKS to size. If the PKFZ Scandal is not resolved do you think MCA can survive the next election. OTK is trying to save the party from further decadence. Unfortunately they are many among his trusted ex-lieutanents who in one way or other have some dealings with TKS. These are the trouble-makers trying to kill him by hook or by crook even to the extent to going outside help.

And OTK also iterate that there are threats on his life. - There have been nothing less than four times when his life have been threatened . It can come in the form of " when they dared not do it openly " they'll do in the unseen way ...meaning spiritual attack . I have mentioned it once of someone needing to release 9999 fishes in the Taiping Lake , failing which he will not make it true the time period . The other was when he stood firm on the $30,000 allocation for a school and only $3000 was used . The latest is recently before the 10/10/09 where his protective amulets were all stolen a few months before that .
That is all I can say ...

I have also received word that the AGM might be postpone due to information received that the people from the two " P " states want to create another 803 , to invite outsiders to intervene in the Party .

ReplyDeleteLatest from the meeting tonight : AGM has to go on . There is no provision in the Party Constitution to allow AGM to be postpone beyond 2009 . They have to call for an AGM by 31 st otherwise MCA will be deregistered . On that problem I mentioned they will need to resolve that too .
ReplyDeleteMCA should have not one but hundreds or thousands of OTK to set things right for MCA... and Malaysia. The way I see it, we Malaysians need more OTK than he needs us. We are in a shamble and doing badly in all aspects if compared to neighbouring countries. If no one dares to speak up and correct the wrongs, we are finished. It does not matter who runs the country then, it is a sinking ship.

For many, the conscience is clear, there are just too much corruption and abuse of power at the expense of our beloved country and rakyat. The country is virtually sucked dry over the years and is still happening. It is not a battle between OTK and LTL etc but a battle between the righteousness and dark evils. OTK, you are not alone and let us all see justice is done and seen to be done and all must see through it... and soldier on tirelessly.

2. Article 29 of the MCA Constitution stipulates it very clearly:
Article 29:- The Annual Meeting of the General Assembly shall be held not later than 31 August in each year unless otherwise postponed by the President but such postponement shall not be to a date later than 31 December of the year in which the annual meeting of the General Assembly is to have been held.
3. Earlier I thought the ROS has "some" powers to make exemptions. But after checking thru the Societies Act 1966, nothing was found on such "powers to exempt", except the MINISTER:
"Power to exempt :- Section 70. The Minister may at his discretion in writing exempt any society registered under this Act from all or any of the provisions of this Act."

4. But that Ministerial power is limited to examptions from complying with the "provisions of the 1966 Act"; not the "provisions of MCA Constitution"!

The Annual General Assembly shall be held once a year at any time determined by the Supreme Council on condition not later than 18 months from the date of the last Annual General Assembly."

Yes, that's correct. The provision in Article 29 of the MCA Constitution is very clear and mandatory.
Umno's Constitution allows the postponement of AGM for up to 18 months:
Perkara 8.2 Perhimpunan Agung Tahunan hendaklah diadakan sekali dalam setahun pada bila-bila masa yang ditetapkan oleh Majlis Tertinggi dengan syarat tidak lewat daripada 18 bulan dari tarikh Perhimpunan Agung yang lalu.

Everyone cares about Ong, and it is therefore natural that everyone should also care about his stomach.
That was when the real headache came.
The three factions of MCA had fixed the time to meet the deputy prime minister to talk about fresh polls for the party, with the entire nation waiting nervously for the outcome.
Ong's stomach problems crushed the whole plan.
COMMENT: Tan Tian Yan is sub human and mentally ill. Please do not compare with animals because some animals due to their humane instinct have compassion and behave better than people like TTY. Making fun of people’s illness is uncultured and uncivilized and is not FUN at all for Malaysians
TTY is also factually wrong. OTK and CSL are working as a team to steer MCA out of the trouble water. While OTK was in England for a few days we saw how they could work as a formidable team as OTK had trusted CSL by empowering him matters regarding MCA. CSL did a great job. CSL went to see the Dept PM as a team player representing the majority of those who attended the meeting.
Doing good to others is not a duty but it is a privilege, and it gives pleasure leading to better health and happiness.
Why no news from PM. What is happening now. Is MCA going forward or backward. MCA's dignity is not an option but a mandate. So what's PM's decsion! Inquirer

ReplyDeleteRegarding TTY, if only you have watched him on 8TV Mandarin news 2 night ago, your blood pressure would have shot up.
TTY appeared in the news segment and was essentially telling the world that OTK is doomed, that OTK can do nothing but to die fighting, if he (OTK) wishes to.
TTY went on to "explain" that Toh You Tin has successfully cornered OTK by "combining CSL with LTL" (in TTY's own words, the "vast majority of MCA") and no matter what OTK does, no matter what OTK wants to do, OTK is destined to fail).
I don't have hypertension problem, but that night my blood pressure did shot up.
Luckily for TTY. If I died that night I (in the form of a very fierce ghost) would have haunted TTY for the rest of his miserable life.
