If UMNO is racist what about this idiot from PKR who called on all Chinese to Balek China !

DAP, PKR told to make their stand on Islamisation

The Edge

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan has called on the DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to make their stand on whether they support Kulim Bandar Baharu member of parliament Zulkifli Nordin who wants to push for constitutional amendments to Islamise the country.

Gerakan deputy president Datuk Chang Ko Youn said the two parties should make their stand because Zulkifli's motions in parliament dealt with sensitive religious issues.

"The motions are to amend the supreme law of the country to push forward the Islamisation agenda. It is a serious matter," said Chang in a statement yesterday.

Chang wanted to know if Zulkifli from PKR, had discussed his motions with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders, before submitting them to the current parliament session.

He said of the 24 personal motions submitted by Zulkifli, 20 of them touched on controversial Islamic issues.

Chang said according to the order paper dated Oct 19, the main amendment was to announce that Malaysia was not a secular country.

He said, among others, Zulkifli also suggested that Islamic laws be independent of the constitution, Muslims should be required to convert in accordance with Islamic laws and expanding the jurisdiction of religious courts.

Chang added that 16 Islam-related motions had also touched on many controversial religious issues in recent years. He said these issues included the banning of alcohol and condoms sold in convenience stores, investigating Sisters in Islam, the Kartika case, air stewardesses' uniforms and banning Muslim maids from working for non-Muslim families.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak today said it was only a matter of time before MCA calls for fresh elections, despite some of the party’s central committee (CC) members’ reluctance to resign.

“The principle of having fresh elections is accepted,” said the prime minister, who added all that remains was to decide on the time frame.

The MCA special committee, which met on Friday, has set a two-week deadline for the CC members to resign in order to automatically trigger fresh polls for the troubled party.

At least 21 — two-thirds — of the 31 elected CC members must resign for fresh polls to be enabled but to date, only 13 have expressed a willingness to step down.

“Just because they have yet to submit their (resignation) letters does not mean they won’t do so sometime in the in the future,” according to Najib, who added when they resign would depend on the understanding that they reach.

He added that MCA knows they have to resolve the leadership crisis sooner rather than later.

Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, who leads the special committee formed to sort out technical matters on holding fresh party elections, last week admitted that it cannot force party leaders to resign but said “political wisdom” will be used to influence the CC members to do the right thing.

The MCA is a senior partner in the Umno-led Barisan National (BN) but its festering leadership crisis, if prolonged, could affect the ruling coalition’s chances in the next general elections, which may be called as early as 2011.

  2. JUSTICE FOR ALL12/13/2009 08:54:00 PM

Democracy needs to be upheld in MCA. Thus I strongly feel that due to the minority 12 deliquents who seem to be indisciplined and do not respect or refuse to work with the president and the deputy president of the day FRESH ELECTION should not by supported by the MAJORITY CCMs. You have the dignity and credibility to protect the party. Fresh election will not solve the party's problem. It is the attitude and mindset of the CCMs that will determine the course of the party.

LTL should not be talking to the press as the spokeman for the Special Committee is DS CSL.
He has a lot to learn to be a team player thus not fit to lead a political party.

  4. Zulkifli Nordin joined the wrong party. He is more aligned with UMNO than PKR.

His speech which I saw over TV actually doesn't implied MCA needs to have fresh elections . He mentioned that elections will have to be held and the date to be decided . It can also mean in one years time or in 2011 .

But I reckon he has to say something when asked , however he did not insists that it be held within a certain time .

  6. I thought Najib was different but after interfering with MCA business and now lifted Ahmad Ismail suspension, they back to square one, old habit hard to die. They need to fall hard in order to to wake up.

I suggest MCA leave BN now before they UMNO drag them down, then conveniently blame MCA for the poor showing.......
