| LETTER I refer to the news item "MCA rebel leader decries character assassination" (published in malaysiakini Dec 26). I think Wee Ka Siong's clarification only raised more questions than it answers. While there is no question that the services offered by his company, Hijau Sekitar Sdn Bhd, to Wijaya Baru is legal and valid, there are moral questions which went unanswered.
Why did Wee do work for free for Wijaya Baru, which is owned by Tiong King Sing, the man who is closely-linked to the Port Klang Free Zone scandal? As we all know, corporations would only do something for free on one of two conditions: either the bosses of Hijau Sekitar has a very cosy relationship with Tiong or Wee expects something back from Tiong in the long-run.
 In any case, this has given rise to further questions about why Wee has been so adamant in wanting to topple his MCA boss, Ong Tee Keat. Was Wee in any way trying to protect Tiong, who has been on a warpath with the Minister of Transport who opened the can of worms that is the PKFZ?
On hindsight, questions are now being raised on why Wee, as the MCA Youth head, has been lying low despite the ferocious attacks against Ong after the PKFZ scandal blew up. In the past, the Youth movement would have been at the forefront coming to the president's defence, what more on an issue which resonates with the people of all races. But the silence on the part of the MCA Youth chairman was deafening.
Now, one wonders if Wee has been scheming to topple Ong as party president even before the watershed October 10 MCA EGM. In an MCA Youth central committee meeting chaired by Wee before the EGM, top leaders from the movement were told to take sides. But after the EGM, Wee forced the Youth CC to show their political allegiance in a move clearly aimed at undermining Ong's leadership.
All these only lends credence to speculations that Wee has ulterior motives in wanting to topple the MCA president. Is Wee's maneouvering in the current MCA crisis influenced by forces outside the party who are upset with Ong over PKFZ? Or did he overnight became an ardent believer in integrity (his so-called reasons in wanting Ong to quit) despite his relative silence with regards to the PKFZ issue (which is also as much about integrity and accountability) ?
Wee needs to clarify this and not hide behind the legal and technical arguments about why he has done nothing wrong in the business arrangement with Tiong. This is not a legal or business issue. This is a political issue involving transparency, accountability and integrity. Nothing short of a full and total clarification from Wee is expected.

I wonder why MCA Youth is so deafening quite about its leader. Are they all in support of a leader that is crooked and corrupt? Are they political cowards? Why can they get off their butts and do something about this fat pig.

ReplyDeleteWKS has declared in the Sun Newspaper he has nothing to do with PKFZ and he has no dealings with TKS. How can he be doing a job for free if he does not have dealings with TKS. He is a great lier and pretender. It is a disgrace that we have such so call "intellectual" leaders in the MCA.

ReplyDeleteA person can be a Christian or Moslem but he should uphold his customs, traditions, pride and dignity of his race. If a person is a "kacang lupakan kulit" he is no better than a stray dog. Even a house dog knows who his master. I pity R Tee because he has lost his racial identity and at the same time being scorned by his community even if he think he is smart.

ReplyDeleteMind you his Company is the lead consultant doing the Port Klang Study for TKS's Co. Even if it is Company it has directors and shareholders and WKS is one of them and the only one having direct communications with TKS is none other than WKS as both of them are politicians.
On hindsight, how could OTK could have possibly place his trust wrongly on so many of his compatriots prior to this fight?

ReplyDeleteGEORGE TOWN: An MCA Youth leader in Kedah has urged party Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong to come clean by answering several questions over the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) issue.
Merbok MCA division Youth chief Lau Hock Chai said Dr Wee owed the people an explanation as it was a test of his integrity as a Youth leader.
“Failing to answer the questions will mean that he has something to hide.
“Dr Wee has been inconsistent on his status with Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and this is confusing to us,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
Lau said Dr Wee should explain why he denied any links with Tiong in an interview with an English daily on Oct 30 but later revealed that he had worked for free for the Bintulu MP.
“Why did Dr Wee’s former company Hijau Sekitar Sdn Bhd work for free for a company linked to Tiong? Is it because the two of them enjoy a cosy relationship or were there other reasons?
“Is Hijau Sekitar Sdn Bhd prepared to work for free for government-linked companies or agencies in the name of corporate social responsibility?” he asked.
Lau also wanted to know if Dr Wee’s employees in his office in the Education Ministry had ever worked for Tiong.
“There has been speculation about his employees working for two companies and we want to know.
“When the PKFZ report was released in May, did Dr Wee receive overwhelming feedback from MCA Youth grassroots who felt that the wing had been rather passive in taking on the issue?
“Was Dr Wee reluctant to be at the forefront of the PKFZ issue despite being the MCA Youth chief due to his ties with Tiong?” he said.
It was reported that Dr Wee admitted his former company provided consultancy work in Port Klang but denied any link to the controversial PKFZ project.

OTK had many years to evaluate both Liow Tiong Lai and Wee Ka Siong.
Liow Tiong Lai had been a supporter of OTK for more than 10 years, while Wee Ka Siong had been tagging along for the past 7 years.
OTK has a poor record in juding characters.
For 7 years OTK failed to see any warning sign on WKS.
For over 10 years OTK detected nothing on LTL.
A great leader not only leads, but also must be an excellent judge of characters.
In such OTK has failed, and the consequence of it is the reputation of MCA being dragged through the mud.
OTK should step down and let CSL takes over.
