MCA postpones Saturday's AGM
Andrew Ong
Dec 2, 09 1:13pm

MCA has deferred its annual general meeting slated for Saturday so that the three feuding factions will have more time to come to a settlement on fresh leadership polls.

The decision, made unanimously by the central committee at a meeting today, appears to have favoured the faction led by vice-president Liow Tiong Lai. Favoured LTL ??? Why is Wee and Chew look as if they have seen a ghost ?

chua soi lek pc after bagan bn meeting 251109 01However, the deadlock remains on the timing of the party polls, as well as whether it should be restricted to the powerful central committee or include both the Youth and Wanita wings.

Today's meeting was chaired by deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek in the absence of party president Ong Tee Keat, who could not attend due to health reasons.

Ong was hospitalised overnight on Monday for stomach ailment and has cut down his public appearance since then. His aide said he was not medically fit to attend the meeting and that he is under doctor's orders to rest.

This eleventh-hour about-turn comes in the wake of pressure from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, who met top MCA leaders in a bid to quell the party crisis. Pressure to internally resolve not outsider intervention .

The outcome of the meeting is likely to give squabbling factions a respite before they get into gear for party elections.

Chua: Unity our concern

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Chua said no date has been fixed for the new AGM, except that it will be held next year.

He said the postponement of the AGM is intended to ensure party unity and stability and stressed that the decision has nothing to do with external intervention.

"This is a good beginning to unite and stabilise the party," he said.

He said new dates would be announced later. It is speculated that a new date for an AGM can only be decided after fresh polls are announced.
How can there be fresh polls when NO two thirds resign ? After what happen yesterday I think they ( Liow's gang ) wouldn't want to think of the word "resign"

Chua said the CC has also endorsed calls for fresh polls and that he will head a special committee - comprising of six vice-presidents, the secretary-general and four CC members - to
study several issues related to the proposal.

NONEThis includes examining provisions in the party constitution, deciding if party wings will be subject to fresh polls, and the duration of the new office-bearers' terms.
The current term ends in 2011. Who wants fresh election when the duration is only for the period until 2011 ? If the election is held in mid-2010 , their term ends in mid-2011 !

In a scene not seen since mid-October, CC members belonging to the camps of Ong, Chua and Liow were all present at the post-meeting press conference.

'Ong agrees with us'

Speaking to reporters later, Liow - a key figure in the push for fresh polls - was non-committal when asked about his supporters' call for fresh polls by January.
Why non-committal when it favoured him ?

“I think as far as today is concerned, we are moving forward and no longer going around in circles, discussing whether there should be fresh polls,” said Liow.

CC member Ti Lian Ker, who is aligned to Ong, welcomed the outcome of the meeting.

“The decisions today gave us a lot of breathing space. In the end, the naughty and mischievous office-bearers will be judged by the central committee,” he said.
Will be judge ? Hey Ti are you trying to tell us something ? ha ha

Earlier, Chua confirmed that Ong was unwell and unable to attend the CC meeting, but he was agreeable to both fresh polls and the deferment of the AGM.

Chua also pleaded to the press not to “spin” stories and not to “contact” them for the time being, so that party leaders can perform their tasks.

No meeting with PM yet

NONEChua also confirmed that they Ong, Chua and Liow have yet to meet Najib for discussions on resolving the impasse.

Najib returned from Europe yesterday evening and briefly met MCA secretary-general Wong Foon Meng and Muhyiddin, who had been tasked to mediate between the three leaders.

This morning, Najib left to officiate the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (Lima) exhibition and a meeting is only expected to take place after that.

Speaking to reporters today, Wong said Najib had made several suggestions during their meeting yesterday and these had been conveyed to the CC.

“There are views and wishes from our national leaders. All this was taken into consideration and deliberated during the CC,” he added.

Look at all the photos , every picture tells a thousand words , all the President's men look so happy , but look at the body language of Liow's gang . Bin chau chau ( face damn sore and gloomy ) Need I say more ?

  1. If there need to be an election, it has to be all inclusive to cover all levels from the branch level to CC levels, including both the Youth and Wanita. This is to restore democracy in MCA and reflect the true wishes of MCA members. Any elections confine to only the CC level is not an MCA election.

  2. Do you think that the Chinese press would heed CSL's plea?

    Of course not !!

Today's Sin Chew --- yes, that paper again !! --- is reporting that Seremban's Hai Lam Association is considering taking away the award they gave to OTK, the award that recognizes the lifelong service to the Chinese (Hai Lam) Community.

Sin Chew is saying that the Seremban Hai Lam Association only thinking of taking away the award they gave to OTK, but they won't take away the same award they gave to Char Bee Hoon and Wang Nai Chee !

I mean, what an effing joke is that?

Sin Chew is fast becoming a damn sick comic !!!

  5. LTL Faction need to keep the momentum going and can't affford any respite or else they will be on the losing end.
Therefore they must always be in the limelight so as to keep the issue burning.
But now is seems that it is their last 10mins before full-time to score 2 goals if they are to win the Championship.
But can they? Only a few can do it. MU is one, why not recruit Alex Ferguson to coach them?

Any idea which Senior Minister ?

KUALA LUMPUR: A political secretary to a senior minister who is said to have amassed millions of ringgit in properties over a short period of time is under investigation by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission.

It is learnt that investigators have obtained an order to seize and freeze several of the properties — including luxury cars and houses — besides freezing bank accounts to facilitate investigations under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Sources said the commission’s seizure list included at least four luxury cars and four houses which they believed belonged to the political secretary who is in his late 30s.

They said the commission was investigating the purchased properties — all in the Klang Valley — allegedly obtained from kickbacks received from the approval of several multi-million ringgit projects.

It is believed several of the properties seized were under the names of people believed to be proxies for the political secretary, and investigators would be calling on the people whose names were registered as owners.

Sources also said the investigators had identified several other people linked to the case and would also be calling them soon to assist in investigations.

Sources said a special team from the commission’s Putrajaya office started investigations about three weeks ago following information received that the political secretary was living well beyond his means.

It is learnt that investigation into the political secretary is among a few high profile cases the commission is investigating following reports and information provided by the public.

The commission’s officers declined to comment when contacted

    Setuju tangguh AGM MCA

  9. After cross-checking with what I got from TW, HK, SG, TH and also local sources, the present CC lineup of MCA has at least 3 CCs who are either directly or indirectly related to, and/or controlled by / working for / owe favor to triads.

And that's the CCs alone !

J4OTK, please urge OTK to rethink his approach in ridding the triads from MCA.

Apparently MCA has been too deeply infiltrated by the triads.

Please approach this problem with extra care !

I will do more cross-referencing before I send you the info, J4OTK.

Thank goodness that the MCA is not involved in the corruption scandal that I posted earlier today

    From the BigDog Blog
It is strongly believed that the Political Secretary under investigation is Hasbie Satar. He is the PolSec to Minister in charge of Economic Planning Unit Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yackop.
