Penang demands more funds from Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 — Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (picture) said today he would be demanding a fairer deal from Putrajaya, after it was revealed that the state contributed RM25.6 billion to federal coffers between 2001 and 2008, but received only RM794 million in federal grants during the period.

In his Christmas message to the state, Lim said the Finance Minister had revealed recently in Parliament in a written reply to him that Penang contributed RM25.670 billion in the form of taxes and customs duties between 2001 and 2008.

"In other words, Penang received back only a shocking three per cent of what it contributed during the 8 years from 2001-2008.

Do you seriously think the Federal Government would give you more funds when you DEMAND ? Who are you to DEMAND ? This is not the first time you DEMAND . ! Mr Opposition !

Who wants to give you money when everytime you have a chance you want to condemn and hurl all sorts of accusations against PM , the Federal Govt and Govt Agencies ? Stupid boy , never learn , never grow up . You want sweets , better say nicely , daddy please give me some sweets . Probably daddy will give you one , not some . And do it in private not openly . If you do it openly thru the press , chances are you get nothing since you are an illegitimate child .

  1. Lim Guan Eng has to wait till next GE, GE13, when PR takes over Federal Govmen and all will be treated equally. Not need to ask for money or fund, there will be a formula for all and even more fund to take care of less advanced states. Petronas money distributed nicely for development.

  3. UMNO and MCA people are busy sending money out via money changers. Nothing left for Penang. The only way is to whack BN totally in the next election.

  4. While I don't doubt that the Federal Government is not giving Penang its fair share of funds, LGE is insulting our intelligence to focus only on Federal Grants. What about all the pay of civil servants, maintenance of Federal assets in the state, legislative members at both the state and federal levels.

Put it another way, LGE is counting only capital expenses and not operating expenses. If I am correct, either LGE is dishonest or he is stupid.

What is at stake is not only his reputation but that of his party and the nation.

  5. This is a stupid statement from a stupid CM.

If the states keep all the revenue then who going to pay for the Federally provided services like defence, education, infra, utilities, civil service, etc.

This only shows LGE is unfit to be the CM..he's merely the Cheap Minister
