KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 — MCA Youth chief Datuk Wee Ka Siong described his ally Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai’s decision to contest for party’s No 2 as the chance for the party to renew itself.

Liow, the former vice-president who was briefly deputy president in a festering party crisis, threw in his hat for the post in the March 28 election.

“You talk about regeneration, you want younger leaders, this is the time, this is where you can get a batch of younger leaders to be given a chance to run the party,” said Wee, who with Liow, had rebelled against Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s leadership.

“It is a learning process and I am glad to see many young capable leaders coming forward offering themselves to contest be it as deputy president or the CC post,” he added.

The 49-year-old health minister is up against another party vice-president Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, 60, who announced his candidacy yesterday.

Wee however said he would let the party’s Youth leaders to vote freely.

  3. What were both WKS and CMF doing during LTL press conference....they being the chiefs of youth and wanita wings were supposed to be neutral?!!! So much for their leadership quality and wisdom......they should have the political maturity to see that this fresh polls is an exercise to elected new leaders and not forming teams within MCA.

Yes, both WKS and CMF should be neutral......please do not drag the two wings into the fresh polls. They did not want to have fresh polls for their wings and yet get involved in the run-up of the fresh polls. Reflect the political maturity or lack of it in them. They behave like novices in politics....what happens if Kong Cho Har wins....aren't they going to support him?!!!!
In the event if LTL loses in the polls I hope it is interpreted as voting of no confidence in WKS and CMF.
