Six Penang division heads do not want Ka Ting back

Reports by NG SI HOOI, RACHAEL KAM, ANDREA FILMER and SHARON CHEW

Six MCA Divisions , Lau Chiek Tuan (Bukit Mertajam), Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun (Tanjung), Goh Poh Chuan (Kepala Batas), Tan Lai Theng (Bayan Baru), Chuah Tee Sung (Balik Pulau) and Bukit Bendera MCA division secretary Loo Guan Leong. aligned to Chua Soi Lek are against Ong Ka Ting !

Why ? If Ka Ting were to come out , half of Chua's supporters are gone ! habis !

GEORGE TOWN: Six Penang MCA division heads have come out strongly against calls for former party president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting to contest the presidency in the upcoming party elections on March 28.

Led by Bukit Gelugor MCA division head Datuk Koay Kar Huah, the group said a comeback by Ka Ting at this time would make the current party situation even more volatile.

“After the March 8 general election, Ka Ting said he would take full responsibility over MCA’s loss of so many seats nationwide.

“If he were to come back now, he would not only be going back on his word but would also put many party members in a difficult position.”

“Ka Ting’s political era is over,” Koay told a press conference here yesterday.

Also present were division heads Lau Chiek Tuan (Bukit Mertajam), Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun (Tanjung), Goh Poh Chuan (Kepala Batas), Tan Lai Theng (Bayan Baru), Chuah Tee Sung (Balik Pulau) and Bukit Bendera MCA division secretary Loo Guan Leong.

Both Loo and Goh claimed that Ka Ting was partly responsible for the current MCA crisis.

“Under his leadership, leaders were limited to a three-term presidency but he only served one term.

“If he didn’t leave early, the situation might not be what it is,” Goh said.

Dr Loh said unity was the most important thing for the party now.

“How can we be so sure that Ka Ting will be able to unite the party? And who is to say that the leaders (that will emerge) now will not be able to do it?” he asked.

Former MCA deputy president Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek urged Ka Ting to consider appeals by MCA members and Chinese community leaders to make a comeback and lead the party.

  1. My feeling, precisely. It is better for OKT to keep whatever prestige he have left than to lose it all.

  3. I am glad that at least OTK hears what the Chinese are saying.

And in the same time, J is doing OTK a disservice by deleting messages.

What J is afraid of? Letting OTK knows the truth?

What J is trying to do is to shield OTK from the truth.

J, you should be ashamed of yourself !

And to OTK, don't tell us you will serve us. That's way too vague.

We Chinese need to know what exactly you will do for us.

"Serving the Chinese" won't work no more. We Chinese have been "served" by UMNO for so many years, and every time we lose.

Announced airport in Malacca - cancelled by NAjib the next day.

Buy second-hand trains from Europe - wrong decisions only after the public found out the truth.

    Apa lagi??!!

    Dear Anon 10.50am....when criticizing:-
    1. we need to back up with details and facts the reasons for certain actions or reactions.
    2. The "TOV"( Take Off Value ) when DS OTK took over as the president of MCA must be taken in consideration which was at its lowest ebb then....thrashed by DAP and PKR due to the weaknesses in the implementations of the government policies. Thus other parties in the BN has taken advantage of the situation.
    3. Every principal office bearers at that time had had their own agenda....thinking of their destinations( to be president of the party ) only but not the righteous journey to the destination. They should have serve as part of the party and not as individual which is so divisive….there is always one legitimate president only in MCA and matters discussed and endorsed by the Central Committee should be respected.
    4. DS CSL, the then deputy president had a baggage to carry.
    5. Many CCs had their own ambitions - to be appointed as ministers, deputy ministers, senators, appointment to various positions in the party or agencies without looking at themselves whether they possess the qualifications or criteria to such appointments which have brought about ill feelings towards DS OTK which is so unprofessional as politicians who are supposed to serve. They were many in the CCs with such low caste mentality. Thus MCA had not been able to work as a team accordingly to the hierarchical set up, each knowing their responsibilities, for the party as a unit and not for personal glorification. As a consequence, indiscipline has crept in, party constitution abandoned, character assassination is employed, the two wings in the party have not been supportive of the party ministers’ predicament in handling the various ministerial responsibilities especially DS OTK who has inherited the problems faced by PKFZ which was used as the trump card by the opposition in the 12thGE.

Any leaders faced with such a magnitude problem created within and outside the party would be handicapped in performing his duties no matter how hard he tries.

I have been following press statements of various MCA leaders following the announcement of the fresh polls slated to be held on 28th Mach 2010 and I am most disappointed that many of the leaders do not state their vision towards unifying MCA or visions to serve Malaysians in particular the Chinese Community. Instead, they show their 4th class mentality as politicians to bad mouth others who have already announced their candidacies for various positions in the polls. Grow up, and think like matured politicians……right thought, right speech and right action will bring about a peaceful environment for the fresh polls to be carried out without spilling unnecessary bad blood amongst the MCA members. Hopefully, the 20000 central delegates will use their wisdom during the election to elect those who have shown commitment, willing to serve without fear or favour for the betterment of Malaysians and the Chinese in particular. Winning the party polls but losing in the 13th GE is a zero sum game.

  6. What OTK should do now is to tell us, in plain, understandable words, what he wants to do for us.

OTK should list down all the things, one by one, let us, the Chinese see.

By merely saying "I will serve the Chinese community" means nothing, as I have said before, the word "serve", in the Malaysian context, may turn out to be "screw", like how UMNO has "served" the Chinese and every single time, we Chinese got screwed.

By listing out the things he wants to do for us, OTK will assure us that he will work at the things he list down.

And by doing so, we the Chinese can know at least what he will do for us.

What happen today is we Chinese do not know what those "leaders" would do - and too often they turned around and screwed us deep deep.

I am impressed by the way you wrote. Diplomatic and in a very civilized manner. Well, as DS OTK has said that he wants to serve sincerely without fear or favour
if he is elected as the President. It is the duty and responsibilities of the principal office bearers and the CCs to assist him in drawing up the visions of the party to take care of the Chinese's interests and we as the lay people could also contribute by giving constructive criticisms in the blogs or during the divisional/state mca meetings or through various NGOs.

All of you, I would like to inform all of you that I am not satisfy with the lawyer, Dato YIP KUM FOOK due to his bad inspirit impressions because he sent an inspector to come to our Buddhist Temple to arrest me without any good reason, moreover, the lawyer, YIP KUM FOOK is not satisfy with Chief monk.

When the Chief monk had me to go to his Temple already and he went away and left me alone to take care until Chief monk come back to the Temple first and he also told me not to leave the Temple if any committees or the chairman want to chase me out, you don’t leave the Temple at all understand? Then I said, alright? To the chief monk! On the second Day, YIP KUM FOOK came to our Temple and talk to me. He tired to make some inquiry from me and he asked me, where I come from? I told him that I came from Penang.

Then, I told to the lawyer (YIP KUM FOOK) that the chief monk came to Penang and fetch me and invited me to accompany him to go to his temple in K.L. I am not aware that YIP KUM FOOK is not in a good terms with the chief monk, chief monk already in this way, YIP KUM FOOK try to create trouble with me unnecessary. That is why, the lawyer want to chase me out of the Temple. Then I asked the lawyer, why you want to chase me out of the temple? Moreover, the Temple is not belonging to you, UNDERSATAND? Then, I asked him, who are you? I don’t know you at all, you have no right to chase me or control me at all, UNDERSTAND? You are just like a layman only. Do you know the regulations that any the chairman or committee cannot control the monks and the Nuns at all, also UNDERSTAND?

I scolded him like that. Then the lawyer (YIP KUM FOOK) is not satisfy with me and he told me that he will called the police to come to the Temple and arrest me. I told him to go ahead and called the police to come and arrest me. I won’t run away, I said to him like that. I have done nothing wrong toward you, why you want to arrest me? He said, he doesn’t like me to stay here. I asked him, why? Again. After this he got very angry with me, then he phoned up to the police and the police came to the Temple and told me to leave the Temple.

I told to the inspector of the again, 1 am sorry, I won’t leave the Temple because the chief monk had instructed me not to leave the Temple without his consent, UNDERSTAND? Then the inspector told me to leave, again. I told him I cannot leave the Temple because the Chief Monk hasn’t come back yet. This time, the inspector got very angry with me and he took out his handcuff and try to threaten me, then I immediately show off my hands for him to lock me up but he scare, then again, the inspector told me leave the Temple again but I still don’t want to leave the Temple.

Then I phoned up to the chief monk again and I told him that the inspector insisted want to arrest me, you better come back to settle the case for me. After this incident, Chief Monk came back to the Temple and take me to go to another temple and stay their. That’s all about this incidents! Last of all, I would like to inform all of you, that no committees or the chairman can control all the monks and Nuns at all also UNDERSTAND? “They are higher than the King,” also! So how can the laymen, the committees and the chairman to control them: – EVEN THE KING ALSO RESPECTED THE MONKS AND NUNS. Why the chairman doesn’t respect the monks and nuns? They will carry the sins later on, UNDERSTAND?
