Don Amache
KUALA LUMPUR - IT was just another ordinary Sunday and I did my usual Christian duty and trudged off to church.
But that was where the ordinary stopped and the extraordinary began.
The Sunday speaker was the senior pastor of the church and after the communal prayer, he began with the absolute duty of the congregation to pray, protect, persevere and even pursue the truth.
It is usually at this point in the service that I start to catch up on my sleep and have the 'religious awakening' after the sermon, week after week.
But this Sunday's sermon was different, to say the least.
It meandered off course from the normal boring hellfire and brimstone sermons and zeroed in on the hellfire in the upcoming MCA elections…a thoroughly engaging topic even from the pulpit.
A sure cure for the very common ailment often called sermon- induced languor and 'religious awakenings'.
He began with something we'd all forgotten.
Spiritual amnesia…that's what he calls the inability to recall vital verses and pulpit lessons.
Wasn't it the MCA that opened its doors to the Metro Tabernacle church after it was torched?
Hallowed grounds?
Wasn't the MCA turned into hallowed grounds until the church had its new premises?
So, for a while, the MCA was actually transformed into the house of God, so said the preacher.
I must admit, I had never thought of it that way.
And was it not the president, Ong Tee Keat who graciously opened the doors to the stricken church.
By that very act alone, the sermon went on, "all Christians, and right and fair minded individuals have a moral and spiritual obligation to hold this man fast in prayers for the upcoming party elections, which many say is a tough uphill task for the reigning president."
Think about it. Here, was an almost oxymoronic proposition. The church and the state were separate entities in a democratic system of governance such as Malaysia.
Yet, here we have an irenic move by an otherwise (and any other given day) volatile party wrecked by intrigue, backstabbing and treachery, presenting their unsanctified but nonetheless revered hall for the worship and praise of holy God!
Hey but wait. Doesn't it say in the good book (Matt 21:42) that the stone the builders have rejected, God will use as a cornerstone?
At the peril of being pedantic or even exegetic, was not the cornerstone the foundation upon which all other stones would be set in reference to this stone?
The party cornerstone
The cornerstone therefore determines the position of the entire structure forever.
President Ong Tee Keat, in no uncertain terms, embodies the very foundations upon which the party, the nation…and the church were built on…truth, integrity and equality for all.
But from the beginning of time, the truth has been under attack. In the Garden of Eden, wasn't it Eve who was first deceived into eating the forbidden fruit?
And ever since, it's been a trying time for all men and women who have stood up and proclaimed the truth.
The forces of evil, throughout history, have conspired to bring down and defeat good.
And the primary tool used has been the deception of portraying evil and dark forces as angels of light.
In any political battle, it is axiomatic that the man or woman who holds the high moral ground, has the decisive edge.
But that decisive edge in the current MCA politics is getting clouded by intrigue, superficial innuendo and the proverbial wool over the delegates’ eyes by promise keepers who are standing on sinking sand.
While the incumbent president has a clear view of what his tasks ahead are for the coming years, his opponents seem to have a short-term and pornographic vision of the future they want for the party.
And this simply not kosher and bodes a dubious end for not just the MCA but the whole BN wagon as well if these deceivers are elected.
Maybe this Christian Blugger who blugs under MarGeeMar is so engrossed with the Opposition parties that he fails to see his God and instead serves the Devil Satan for him to not see the truth .The forces of evil, throughout history, have conspired to bring down and defeat good.
Let us all Buddhists in MCA also pray for Ong Tee Keat for him to continue with his vision and work of reformasi for MCA .
Please allow me to state this:
ReplyDeletePM DS NTR never expressed (openly or privately) his preference as to who should/must/ought to be the MCA President.
If there is any news/comment/gossip of such nature, that's rubbish. If CSL was said to be favoured by the PM, that 'rubbish' must have been spread by CSL men & women....
PM's hands are full. He couldn't afford to create new/more enemies from within (BN). He is facing enough troubles outside....
So after MCA was forced (by its internal feud) to hold a fresh election (28 March 2010), PM could only hope for the best: Let the 2,370 delegates decide their choice and thereafter the party crisis achieves "happy ending"....
It will happen if the President accomodates comrades from all "warring factions" under the "semua ada habuan" (everyone got share) formula.
"The winners don't take all and the losers don't lose all." Always remember the wise saying of our beloved Tun Dr. Mahathir.
It is a pity MCA doesn't have the election system like PGRM. Delegates will first choose their President. As soon as the President is elected, he will nominate his rival to be his deputy. This happened in 1980 when Dr. Lim Keng Yaik was elected the new President, he immediately nominated Paul Leong Kee Seong as his deputy....
Should OTK retain his presidency, it'd be "NICE" if he could appoint CSL as the party adviser; LTL be appointed the Sec-Gen (if he loses his postlah!); Ong Ka Chuan as Organising Sec (if he also loses!)and so on and so on....
MCA needs to put its house in order first before its leaders talk about serving the rakyat.
For the time being, the rakyat couldn't bother whether MCA is still there or not!
Best wishes for my friends.
Axed-Journalist
I agree with Axed-Journalist. CSL had been going round to say his action had the approval of the PM. Which of course is a blatant lie. Also LTL had been doing the same thing. How may plans can Najib approve?
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to note the online survey in The Sun on the question:
ReplyDelete" Would a comeback by Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting be the answer to MCA's leadership problems?"
The answer is overwhelming no. So why the hell is OKT trying come back.
I think it is a good idea for OTK to go down to the grassroots to campaign. The launch of his election campaign is a good thing. It will put pressure on his competitors. It will scare the shit out of them.
ReplyDeleteCSL, you think you are smart by dumping the GUP and walking away from OTK for your selfish motive.
ReplyDeleteClearly you walk into the Brutus's trap. Now they are waiting to kill you...I do not think you have the balls to meet them..you will run and hide.
Because of you our OTK have to blood it out....we are not running away...we shall stand our groud.
OTK Bodyguard
I think CSL will chicken out in the fight for President, he will go for deputy president and maybe slug it out with LTL. He kena played out by LTK the second time. I think CLS has lost his marbles. Better to withdraw your resignation.
ReplyDeleteIt's official:
ReplyDeleteOng Ka Ting will run !

Dr. Chua Batu Pahat. It's still not too late.
OTK needs you and still welcomes you. Both of you should regroup to terminate LTL & his masters -the political eunuchs among the Chinese community- once and for all.
The lineup is likely to be:
OTK & CSL VS OKT & LTL.
Last call, Dr. Chua!

Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Othman Talib said yesterday that it was a coincidence that Ong King Ee @ Jackie Chan, the reputed triad kingpin of Sio Sam Ong, who was the target of a nation-wide police manhunt following the issue of a warrant of arrest last Tuesday, is an MCA member and that the issue should not be politicised.
The Penang police chief should strictly confine himself to police duties to uphold law and order and stay clear of political waters, and least of all should not allow himself to be made used of to bail out political parties or political personalities from having to give full and satisfactory accounting for their triad connections or activities, especially when they had been the subject of public allegations by a Deputy Minister who had taken the unusual step of personally submitting two names to the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to prove triad infiltration and influence in MCA.
What is the outcome of police investigations into the serious allegations by the MCA Youth leader, Datuk Ong Tee Keat, of triad infiltration and influence in top MCA circles which must also affect the integrity of the government, backed up with the submission of two names to Abdullah, followed by three police reports from MCA Team B in Bukit Mertajam, Klang and Kuala Lumpur?
If Tee Keat’s grave allegations of triad infiltration and influence in top MCA circles, and indirectly in government, were baseless, then why is he continuing as Deputy Minister when he should be sacked for defaming the second biggest component party of the ruling coalition and by implication the government and even charged in court for the offence of criminal defamation?
If Tee Keat’s allegations were well-founded, then why had no action been taken to clean up the MCA leadership, and indirectly the government, from triad infiltration and influence – and Tee Keat promoted as full Cabinet Minister for his political courage and honesty?
The police nation-wide manhunt for Jackie Chan, the chairman of Gurney Drive MCA branch chairman in Penang, has proven Tee Keat right and catapulted to the political centre-stage the issue of triad activities, links, infiltration and influence in top MCA circles, and indirectly the government

ReplyDeleteI do not understand the MCA in Kedah.
ReplyDeleteWhy in hell they still support that Hakka samseng?
Don't they love MCA? Or do they want to dig a grave for MCA?
By supporting that Hakka samseng they are doing more and more harm to MCA !!
Hi J4OTK
ReplyDeleteAs predicted by you and Ti Lian Ker...
KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 — Former MCA president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting has confirmed he will come out of retirement and run for the top party post in the March 28 polls.
In a press statement issued today, Ka Ting (picture) said his decision to contest in the polls was a result of calls from various quarters within the party for him to return to save the party from its present crisis.
“I am indeed humbled and overwhelmed by their calls.
“Most importantly, I believe that their calls are motivated primarily by their genuine concern and love for the party in order to see a quick end to the damaging factional in-fighting which is going on.
“To all these members who care and love the party, I say, I hear you loud and clear.
“I would, therefore, like to announce my candidacy for the MCA presidency in the coming party elections,” he said.
Ka Ting added that he would be acting selfishly if he failed to heed the calls of his party members and rise to the challenge.
“It would be indeed selfish on my part if I do not rise to respond to this call for duty and undertake this challenge to bring stability, and restore credibility and rule of law in the party. All in all, I am doing this out of my love and concern for the party and community,” the former party president said.
He noted that the factional in-fighting among party leaders since the 2008 party annual general meeting had not only brought shame to the party but also to its supporters, particularly those in the Chinese community.
“During this period of in-fighting, a lot of precious time has been lost and which could have been better spend to rebuild and regain the trust and support of Malaysians for our party after our dismal performance in the last General Election,” he said.
He predicted that if MCA’s internal strife did not fizzle out soon, the party would become irrelevant and would subsequently meet its demise.
“When I announced in June 2008 that I would not seek re-election of the presidency, I thought I would be leaving the party in safe and united hands. To my great dismay, this not only turned out to be otherwise but also, the good values of healthy political culture, good governance and collective leadership, practised and advocated by my team during my presidency, have become almost entirely a thing of the past as soon as I retired,” he added.
Ka Ting also said that there was an urgent need for the weaknesses in the party’s constitution to be addressed and rectified, pointing out that this was evident in the past year, under Tee Keat’s short leadership.
“After putting our constitution to a severe test, it has revealed various weaknesses in the light of excessive presidential powers and the abrogation of the general assembly as the supreme body of our party,” he said.
Ka Ting’s announcement today comes as no surprise for rumours of his return began circulating the moment the party polls was announced.
Various quarters have even been calling for the former president’s return with the belief that the experienced party leader able to lead the party out of the present crisis.
MCA Watcher
Ong Ka Ting thinks he is still laku. He may be surprised. He had left the field too long and do not have personal feel of the pulse in the grass root. This can affect his political calculation. Given today's time and feeling, his calculation may not be infallible. Just like CSL.
ReplyDeleteOng ka ting sould piss off home & retire. ANd waste his time counting his money instead
ReplyDeleteYa, OKT apart fighting against CORRUPTION , he did not tolerate TRIAD intrusion into MCA. I still remember many years ago when MCA YOUTH meeting ,some gangsters inside to throw away CHAIRS. WAH ! SO BRAVE PRESIDENT MCA CDs NOT WANT ,want whom ?
ReplyDelete“After putting our constitution to a severe test, it has revealed various weaknesses in the light of excessive presidential powers and the abrogation of the general assembly as the supreme body of our party,” he (Ong Ka Ting said.)
ReplyDeleteThe is Napoleon, the big fat pig in Animal Farm said. He will change the constitution to give the president absolute power so that there will no weaknesses. The he will have control of MCA's assets, which he tried the last time and failed.
Open your eyes, people.
