KUALA LUMPUR - Ong Tee Keat will defend his post in the March 28 party election.
The MCA president made the announcement at a press conference today, saying that "there was a lot of unfinished work and he and his team would continue to soldier on with their struggle."
Ong also stressed that he could and would work with anyone who ultimately had the interest of the people, community and party in mind.
"We are ready with renewed resolve, to strive to redeem the near lost hopes of our day," he said.
His supporters, some wearing orange t-shirts bearing the president's name, also stood behind Ong to give him moral support during the press conference.
He said he and his people were prepared and were wilng to defend the rights of all Malaysians, particularly the Chinese community, to realise the dream of 1Malaysia.
"Armed with renewed energy and zeal, I am confident we will win back the hearts and minds of all Malaysians," he said.
One lonely road
Ong said MCA was still facing the challenge of regaining the trust and confidence of the people and community that the party constitution and founding fathers swore to protect.
He said the road to transformation and change was more often than not a lonely one that was fraught with challenges.
"I admit that in my zeal to make institutional changes in the party, I took a number of hard knocks and learned a few lessons. But I meant nothing but good for our party.
"What doesn't break a person makes him stronger and despite being battle-scarred during my tenure as president, I have come out with renewed, strength and hope.
"It has strengthened my belief that many within our party and amongst Malaysians still have faith in MCA to transform itself and regain the trust and confidence of the people and community," he added.
This is the way to go for OTK. Do not give in to the people who want a weak MCA.
ReplyDeleteOTK Chia Yu!
ReplyDeleteNow that OTK is going for the presidency, I suggest that he should do the following:
ReplyDelete1. Go to the ground, the divisions and branches. Talk to the people directly. His "I apologise" speech was well received in the AGM. He should continue along this line. Explained the reasons and lay the blame of LTL,WKS, CMF and CSL.
2. Take the battle to the backyard of the competition.
3. Rattle and shake the CDs. Many may support him but dare not do vote for him because of pressure from the division chiefs or from the brain washing of these people.
4. Scare the hell out of the recalcitrant CDs. Do what it takes to make them see sense.
He should the the road to campaign.
LAWAN TETAP LAWAN!
ReplyDeleteIf OTK doesn't fight, he is THE LOSER already.
If OTK decides to fight, he is not necessarily THE LOSER. Instead, he may emerge as THE WINNER!
That's why I support his decision above.
《孟子·告子下》:“故天将降大任于是人也,必先苦其心志,劳其筋骨,饿其体肤,空伐其身行,行弗乱其所为,所以动心忍性,曾益其所不能。

Best wishes.

DS OTK has made the right decision to go for the presidency as he has been doing a great job but his almost 2 year tenure as president has been sabotaged by those within and outside MCA for self-vested interests and to weaken the party.
ReplyDeleteNobody could have withstood the assaults by those culprits.
1. They refused to co-operate,
2. they stabbed him from the back twice,
3. they were very indisciplined by trampling on the Party Constitution,
4. they refused to respect the hierarchical set up of the party,
5. they tried to bycotted fucntions till the AGM,
6. they pretended not to know what is AGM and EGM just to ridicule the president
7. they form parties/groups within the party to rock MCA, MCA need one party only and not parties to be effective.
8. they enlisted outside political and NGOs leaders to pressure the president..
9. Many more I reserve.........but the list is too long
MCA needs everyone, let the past be a very bitter lesson for the party so that we can move forward as a formidable party to represent Malaysians and Chinese in particular.
The political scenario in Malaysia today demands a leader who can represent the Chinese without fear or favour. DS OTK is the obvious choice.
Sorry.
ReplyDeleteOTK has yet to accomplish the following:
" ... 所以动心忍性,曾益其所不能。"
Until he does, OTK ain't going anywhere.
But CSL had not achieved anything except to bring down MCA
ReplyDeleteBut Liow Tiong Lai had not achieved anything except to stab OTK in the back.
Wee Ka Siong had not achieved anything except help create PKFZ.
Chew Mei Fund had not achieved anything except be angry and vengeful woman.
See. MCA had not achieved anything because it is all sick inside.

Well, I won't deny that.
But I think that's SECONDARY lah....
OTK had learnt his lessons and is still learning some more lessons. This is the process of "continued education"....Where got end one? hehehe
So, as long as he passed his PRIMARY TEST above, to me, he is well qualified to lead the MCA until the next GE.
Don't expect MCA leader to have the power of a superman lah --whether with underwear worn inside or outside....
To my mind, any selfless leader can take MCA to new height already. OTK is selfless, for he is willing to work for the community, nation & rakyat.
What else do you expect from OTK?

Anon 9.41. I apologize for I do not read Chinese but I am still very Chinese in me a Real Malaysian Chinese.
ReplyDeleteNo one is perfect including DS OTK and this applies to everyone including myself.
