Ong Tee Keat is unfazed by speculation over support
BATU PAHAT, March 21 —
MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat (picture) is unfazed by media speculation that he would be able garner enough support to defend his post at the party’s polls on March 28.
He said turnouts at gatherings organised candidates vying for that post should not be used as a yardstick of support.
“I feel it is not a benchmark if certain parties assess the strength of any candidate based on the numbers attending certain lunch or dinner gatherings,” he told pressmen after meeting Johor MCA members in Yong Peng here today.
Ong said he believed that some of the voting delegates might choose to abstain from attending any functions but this did not mean that they had no stand.
The Transport Minister said media speculation was part of the psychological warfare in an election and that he had confidence in the delegates to make the right choice.
He said his main thrust now was to tell delegates and non-delegates the real story of happenings leading to the scenario in the party now and how hidden forces or hidden hands had been involved.
So far, he said, he had just told the people the bare facts without making any inferences as his approach was a non-confrontational one.
On a possible three-cornered fight for the presidency, Ong said it was too early to prejudge anything before nomination day (tomorrow). — Bernama

If Chua Soi Lek wins, then MCA will totally be under Umno's control because Chua will have to behave, otherwise he can be charged for his oral sex episode. How can he make any decisions that Umno disapproves when he knows he will go to jail if he does not do as instructed by his masters, who control the police, the Attorney-General's Chambers and the judiciary?
ReplyDeleteAll MCA delegates should bear this in mind. While I think Chua is intellectually superior and has good leadership qualities, he cannot and must not be elected MCA president. It will be a disaster of the first order if he wins - MCA will be completely a compliant lapdog to Umno.

As a layman's opinion, is to let OTK completes his task to clear up the PKFZ mess and coruption in MCA.It is of no point to critize one another. We all know Chua,Liow,OKT, Wee and Char mee hoon are incapable to lead the Chinese as we are of sure being manuplated by upno.There are so many issues happening affecting the Chinese and yet we see all the in fighting to scramble for power and greed. As such there is no more respect for MCA anymore from the Chinese community. We need someone brave enough like OTK to clear the path and elect new energetic leaders in the youth wings to lead without fear and favor. Tainted leaders and yes yes man should not be allowed to be re-elected in order to bring back the respect of the chinese community. If such to continue, GE13 will see MCA being slaughtered.

If the majority of the CDs still have the conscience and the survival of the community (民族), they should change this scenario :
(a) Chua Soi Lek = 1000 votes;
(b) Ong Ka Ting = 860 votes;
(c) Tee Keat = 525 votes...
into this scenario:
(a) Chua Soi Lek = 700 votes;
(b) Ong Ka Ting = 830 votes;
(c) Tee Keat = 525+300+30=855 votes.[The WINNER]
It's an unhill task. No doubt. But nothing is impossible.

All righteous Central Delegates should vote with wisdom. It is not who we like or love but will the president voted in have the will and capacity to lead the Chinese community. Among the three, the right choice will have to be DS OTK....we have to be very practical and and sincere to ourselves and to have the entire Chinese welfare in our heart... the future of the Chinese community is in our hands in the present Malaysia Political set up.
