To all MCA Central Committees

I am calling to you all to use your good senses to advocate this call for NO FRESH ELECTIONS for NOW under the CC's completes their terms of office . MCA cannot afford or ill afford to have another round of monkeying , jockeying , horse trading , bad mouthing every time there is a party elections . Enough is Enough until the Party stabilises for the good of ALL . By which time GE13 would have been just round the corner .

For those who have been singing , calling for fresh elections , be they from within the Party of from those outside of the Party , especially from those so called representing Guilds and Associations , Clans Associations , Business chambers and from the mass Media should let the water find its own level instead of trying to " masok champur " which will be detrimental to the Party .

  4. The majority is calling the shot and not the minority in particular the few that caused so much disturbances/rebellion. It is time to defy the move towards fresh election and let the GUP a chance to survive and to achieve what is nececessary for the party. Anyway, it won't be long for the party election in 2011. Let the majority CCM decide and do not back down in the face of Armno & the minority cring for fresh poll.Be firm and do not compromise. In fact there is nothing to compromise - who hols the whip and who should toe the line. The next line of action is party disciplene - revamp the disciplinary Board and see what happens. Mon

  6. MCA politics must be stripped naked

MCA Vice-president Liow Tiong Lai’s faction insistence on holding fresh elections by end of the year is something totally not feasible and runs contrary to the spirit of compromise in this MCA crisis. Since all faction have agreed to fresh polls, there is no reason to argue on the need to hold it immediately.

The fresh elections can be held in March or even in June but everything must adhere to the party constitution. Liow faction’s stubborn insistence again points to the fact that they are the ‘trouble- makers’ of this prolonged crisis. They want to bargain for the cancellation of Nov 28 EGM in exchange for an agreed date to hold fresh polls by year-end.

The Nov 28 EGM has already been ruled as ‘illegal’ by the central committee on Nov 18. More than two-thirds of committee members had already voted against the nature of the resolution proposed by Liow’s faction. Arguing from the simple fact of legality, how could somebody come to the peace talks with something illegal to bargain for something legal?

To be fair to all parties, the illegal EGM on Nov 28 should not figure at all in the picture .If they ever have the party at heart, the Nov 28 EGM should be called off unconditionally.

However, in MCA nowadays, there is no more democracy at work, because the violent and aggressive minority will always go against any ruling made by the more civilised and comfortable majority. The majority in MCA keep quiet or would rather remain at the sidelines so as to not worsen the situation further.

But the violent and dwindling minority will make sure that as long as the party does not submit to their wishes, they would go all out to disrupt and destroy the party. This was the very same strategy adopted and applied successfully by Team B under Lim Ah Lek and Chan Kong Choy to bring down Ling Liong Sik in May 2003.

Initially, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin might have thought that it was quite easy to work out a formula since everybody had agreed on fresh elections. However, it is not so easy as Liow faction’s stubborn and irrational demands will threaten to bring down the wall again, paving the way for another round of street quarrels and perhaps more open weeping in front of TV cameras.

When both Wee Ka Siong and Chew Mei Fun cried openly, Muhyiddin would have thought that they are being victimised by the MCA president. The concerned and passionate DPM therefore offered himself to sort out the mess in MCA. By any calculation, the weaker faction (the Liow faction) would normally be satisfied once their demands are met partially after intervention or mediation by a respected third party.

However, by now, the DPM would have realised that it is not going to be easy as the weaker faction is making use of the DPM to realise their claims in totality and in absolute terms even if it means going against the party constitution.

Contrary to their play acting and weeping episodes earlier on, Wee and Chew happily continue to tour the country nation-wide with more verbal attacks on Ong Tee Keat and Chua Soi Lek during closed-door sessions. To both Wee and Chew, neither Ong nor Chua are fit to be their leaders but Liow Tiong Lai should take over immediately by year end.

After Liow takes over, they will be rewarded with full minister-ships. What a prize to be won! How could the DPM, Ong or Chua convince them not to rock the boat? The DPM could work out a deal immediately only if Ong and Chua agree to step down.

This is the bottom line of Liow faction’s demands but they stop short of saying it openly for fear of being branded as ‘power-crazy’. Liow’s faction had banked on the upcoming EGM to further their agenda but the bottom line is how many delegates will come forward? With the very question of its legality hanging in uncertainty, with so many central delegates getting bored and erratic weather conditions looming over the sky, how many would want to be made use of again?

  7. We must procced to fresh election!

We must show the world that MCA is making effort in leading the country political scene by having a fair fresh direct election.

We can show that MCA is upholding democracy in respecting the elected CC decision to withold fresh election until the CC deems fit.

Nothing can exchange for the dignity of the party to fix its own date for fresh election.

Every MCA members pls unite together to work for the people and party, forget your selfish self, whether you are OTK, CSL or LTL.

  9. India is the world most democratic country. Everybody can speak their mind and do thing that they want, protest, picket whatsoever. But yet does India prosper because of that?

Singapore would be at the lower scale of democracy. But with people who are strong minded who know what they are doing, they are allowed to dictate terms during their tenure and lead Singapore to a better state.

Process of democracy must be followed. Process of smart democracy includes not only the power of members to determine leader, but also allow the leader ample time to lead the organisation to a greater heights.

For people like LTL and gang who cried foul at the recent scenario must go back and look at the mirror themselves. There is really nothing for them to fight for.

Democracy?! My foot. They dont even respect the wishes of majority. Dont forget they are the one who gun down OTK's earlier request for EGM to determine whether there is a need for re-election.

For CMF, she is a back door minister. How democracy can she be?!

They are just power crazy. Shameful. Real shamful.

    Crazy

  11. Cannot do that , we are gentlemen and should not encourage gangsterism . President has quoted everybody could say he feel fit.So we are not CCM and we must do RESPECT CCM next meeting. If every CCM have a sense of RESPECTING , I believe MCA should have no problem work together and we do need MCA to represent Chinese . Next fresh election is not important at all if GUP can work well than our expectation.

  12. Absolutely NO FRESH ELECTION is necessary and stick to the GUP is the right direction.

The major problems in MCA are in nature discipline matters as such must be nipped in the bud and deal with accordingly with the code of conduct in place. You don't go for election to settle discipline issue.

I suggest that you guys, MCA member dig into your code of conduct and file allegations, complaints or grievances against those culprits for mischief and insubordination for the leadership to conduct inquiry and take the necessary disciplinary actions. You cannot allow those trouble makers to walk away so easily, otherwise they come come back with more nonsenses.

The CC should also stamp the GUP during the coming AGM, after that nobody can complain anymore.

    FRESH ELECTION VS GUP

Is fresh election the antidote for MCA present hiccups? Hiccups because there are only a few mischievous CCMs ( about 9 ) who are rocking the boat.
Would fresh election strengthen the party to face the coming GE?
Would the party have enough time to consolidate after the fresh party election?
Would fresh election unite the party?

The answers for all the above questions are a big NO. Election is not a “plan” to consolidate or to unite the party. It is just a mechanism to choose leaders. Fresh party election is a zero sum game which will bring MCA to square ONE. There would be intense campaigning and thus when the central delegates finally caste their votes to determine the new leaders of MCA, most of the candidates would have been badly mauled to have any more energy to lead the party. The party and the winners would be the biggest losers as they would not have enough time to salvage whatever left after the bitter battle to wrest control of the party. The intensity of character assassination from within and outside MCA would have far reaching implications for the party to survive the next GE which is around the corner. Those bankrupt opportunists within and outside would seize the chance to discredit candidates for political mileage. The dirty linens would be used as weapons against the Party and BN during the GE.

Fresh election is destructive and not the saviour of the party. GUP which has been endorsed by the party and being inclusive should be the answer for the MCA in dealing with the present impasse. Any new plan would need time and the cooperation of every sincere party members to make it a success. Teething problems will arise and this is the norm. Any plan needs to be fine tuned to suit the changing environment and demand as time goes by. Time is not on the MCA side thus GUP which is to unite, heal and serve the Chinese community and nation should be the logical choice now.

For those who support the Fresh Party Election could you please list down its advantages? Also list down the disadvantages of implementing GUP?

  18. Respect the GUP first , it has 2/3 majority SOKONG. Ignore the fresh party election now. The pro-Brutus newspaper like a mad dog chasing Next Jan is an election month ? Why , is Brutus Gang has no $ to support EGM1128 and has energy to chase for Jan election ? Because we use our $ to buy pro-Brutus newspaper and Brutus Gang is young enough to have energy to chase for January Election...

LTL, WKS and CMF are a bunch of deliquents. Issuing unnecessary distorting statements. Are they going to advise the those who attend the "briefing" to boycott the AGM on the 4th and 5th of Dec. Can't they just toe the line? How are they going to ask their officers in their respective ministries to be follow the GO (BAB "D" Kelakuan dan Tatatertib)

Very well written . Most of the issues are there on why the fresh election MUST be aborted . Doesn't serve any purpose .

  21. On NTV7 tonight there seems quite a lot of people attending from the crowd and dinners tables, who are these people? Are they delegates and how many? What is the implication for having this kind of function? Can action be taken against those who put up the function - from egm to briefing session - a mockery to MCA leadership and the idea that MCA part is malfunctionimg somewhere. Its effects can be distrous to MCA. What action can be taken by the all power CC? The rebellion is becoming obvious - look at some people (whether delegates/not)they are talking about gettting over things with fresh election. They claimed to have 1400 delegates. Why these should go on? Very damaging! Observer

  22. These came by the bus loads , two day trip with free dinner and a trip up Genting . Delegates , hardly . If they had wanted to prove they are delegates , register them to prove they are delegates , then have the briefing . They dared not , these bunch of fcuking bastards .
