Delegates step on ‘frogs’ at Perak DAP convention

Ipoh Timor MP Lim Kit Siang steps on the ‘doormat’ as Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming (right) ushers him into the hall for the convention.

By Clara Chooi

IPOH, Nov 29 — A banner bearing the faces of the three political “frogs” that caused the fall of the Perak Pakatan Rakyat government was the source of much mirth for DAP delegates arriving for the party's state-level 15th convention here this morning.

The banner was conveniently placed like a doormat on the floor of the entrance into the convention hall at the Tower Regency Hotel, forcing delegates to step on the faces of the three — Barisan Nasional-friendly independents Hee Yit Foong (Jelapang), Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi (Behrang) and Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu (Changkat Jering).

The three defectors had left their respective PR parties last February and threw their support behind the BN, causing the controversial switch in government and the impasse that the state is still embroiled in until today.

Some delegates looked uncomfortable at the idea of stepping on the trio's faces and made a big show of avoiding the banner while others gleefully jumped on them, targetting Hee's face above the three.

Several state assemblymen, including Sungkai assemblyman A. Sivanesan and Tebing Tinggi assemblyman Ong Boon Piow, had no qualms over stepping on the banner as they made their way into the hall.

Others like ousted Speaker V. Sivakumar and Perak DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham entertained requests from photographers to pose for pictures as they walked in.

Party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who was invited to open the convention, however decided to avoid the banner as he stepped in.

The convention will go on until 6 this evening and will seek to pass resolutions including suggestions on policies for the PR as well calls on the BN government on matters involving politics, the economy, education, religion and the Perak power grab.

  2. What is wrong with this? Just because the frogs support BN? Come on.

I would suggest someone to shit of the frogs faces. Especially that Hee woman. Chew Mei Fun has a companion.

I knew MCA was involved in Hee's crossover. Were you involved, J4OTK?

Eh don't be so "high Horses" lah - those ass h0les deserved to be made door mats. I nominate making similar doormats of these assh0les in the front door at the MCA AGM.

  5. I hate those three as much as the next sane person, but this is childish behaviour. Now you're giving BN/UMNO the chance to take the high ground. Sigh ... sometimes DAP loves shooting itself in the foot.

  6. What if Anwar's plan was indeed successful on 16 September. Are they acceptable to have their froggers face stepped by BN? They should focus on real issue that affects the state instead of harping over old issue

  7. Wow, wow, wow. Wait a minute! This act of stepping the pictures of 'politcal frog' is beyond the limit. Don't get me wrong. Though am a strong supporter of the Pakatan Rakyat alliance, stomping on or burning the pictures, efiggies and the like of our opponent is NOT the mark of strong, calm and mature persons. Doing such things will only reflect one's weaknesses in coping and finding solutions to a predicment.

Let's act like mature people and show our flat-headed people. Doing such despicable act will cause the rakyat to jugde us as leaders NOT much different then the BN government, which usess the Police, ISA, MACC and the like to oppress the people, especially those who oppose them.

  8. I would expect UMNO members to be immature enough to do this. DAP made a big mistake. Now this will justify attacks by the MSM against Perak Pakatan. The media will claim that they were right all along - that Perak Pakatan was just too immature to accept their defeat in a game of politics, resulting in their loss of a state

  9. Very sad. ! Was it necessary ? It is not the culture of Malaysians , especially Chinese and Malays for such acts. The main culprits and they have always been the culprits are Ngeh, Sivakumar and Kor Ming. Shameful behavior . No go and to see the veteran LKS do it too, this photo will appear at the next GE, believe me.

  10. Is this the childish ways DAP will rule this country? If this is the way you fight a serious war with childish pranks, many of us have problem extending wholehearted support. Stop these childish pranks, please.

  11. Oh, I second Anon 01:00's suggestion !

Print out the faces of the FGZs and place them as doormats on the 05/12/09 AGM.

    And see the reaction :)

  13. Frog and the rest,

Didn't you guys know the difference between jumping frog for personal gain and thoes jump because of ideology??!! SIGH!!

I would willingly step on the faces of those who consistently shift their goalposts for personal gain and self vested interest ...yes you are right there . As for those who shift because of ideology due to changing views , circumstances .. its a different story altogether .

  15. j4otk. I support OTK. But it does not mean i support MCA. The 3 frogs caused the fall of the Pakatan govt in Perak. Does it mean you support the methods used by BN in Perak? If you do shame on you.

I say thank you for the support , however on methods used by BN is debatable .

But now is not the time to go into that as Goh says and I fully agree with him , we have to put our house in order first and clean up the mess .

But let me say this , if BN were to put Anwar's plus LKS pics the way its done here , I would also protest , its bad strategy and bad publicity for BN , same way as the pic on the raising of the keris by Kerismuddin .

Maybe I should congratulate them for doing it...Well Done .

  18. Dear Goh,

What matters right now is to get rid of the Barbarians from MCA first, then you deal with the Barbarians in DAP.

One day MCA is still tainted with Barbarians is one day MCA can't stand on the high ground in criticizing Barbarians elsewhere.

Plus, the Barbarians in MCA are very well educated as well. One has PhD degree to boot !

  19. There is nothing wrong to step on traitors.
Traitors is the worse enemy of a country (or political party). Before you knew it the whole country is being sold off by them. One should not have soft heart for traitors.
In the olden days, traitors were set upon and killed when they had their down fall.

Just watch how MCA being sold off, by the traitors, to their brother party if the president and his deputy are not smart, strong and united.
