The Empire Strikes Back

Soi Lek reinstated, Tee Keat sacks four in pre-emptive strike

UPDATED

By Lee Wei Lian

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 – Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has been reinstated as MCA deputy president by the Registrar of Societies on a day when embattled party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat sacked four central committee members pushing for fresh party elections.

These developments came just hours before the central committee met to discuss the greater unity plan for the divided party.

The four, Deputy Home Minister Chor Chee Hueng, Chai Kim Sen, national organising secretary Yoo Wei How and Gan Hon Su, were, ironically, appointed by Ong when he won the presidency in October 2008.

The four sacked central committee members had signed a requisition for an EGM to propose fresh polls.

A crucial central committee meeting to be held this afternoon could decide whether the EGM will be held or whether the entire central committee will resign to pave way for elections or simply fall in line behind the president’s greater unity plan.

Dr Chua was seen entering the central committee meeting this afternoon with his son and Labis MP Chua Tee Yong.

It is speculated that the junior Tee has been appointed a central committee member to replace one of the new vacancies along with two others. However, no official announcement has been made.

In a press conference at the MCA headquarters, the four ex-central committee members said that they were not given a reason for the sacking when told this morning but suspected that is was “revenge” for pushing for fresh polls.

A disdainful Chor criticisised Ong as “ungentlemanly” for allegedly going back on his word that he would resign and that he could not “stomach” it.

“He has to resort to all kinds of methods to safeguard his position, by hook or by crook,” said Chor.

Asked about whether his cabinet post would be affected, Chor said that it was up to the prime minister.

“You have to separate party from cabinet,” he said.

Asked whether they would support the so-called “greater unity plan”, all four protested that they had no idea what it was.

“It was never communicated to the central committee,” said Chor.

Sorry lah Chor , this is politics ...if you cannot understand how politics functions or what is politics then all I can say is you are not fit to be a CC . You see the President appointed you into CC , he has every right to remove you as CC as your conduct is outrages and on the verge of treason , as one of the EGM 2 signatories . For the other three , they fully deserved it , as they are not fit to be appointed . I am glad they are OUT .

  2. I am the President I appointed you as one of the central Committee Member but you do not support me instead you stabbed me at the back. Isn't that good enough reason to sack you 'comrade' Chor.
Ungentlemanly? What is more ungentlemanly then to stab your friend who happens to be the President of MCA Chor Chee Hueng? To be frank you have committed treason. And in olden China to be beheaded lah.

  3. Hey you idiot don't you know that your cabinet post was recommended by the President of MCA. The one you stabbed at the back Chor Chee Hueng. If your name was not forwarded by OTK do you think the PM will accept you. So please do not talk cock.

  5. What is going to happen the recalcitrant Liow Tiong Lai. He want to reserve the right to take it to court. He say he is still deputy president of MCA according to MCA constitution.

    Is this true?

  6. I think pricipples has been sold out. First, CSL said no conditionals close ranks. Now we see even his son, who is still wet behind ears can become CC and later minister, perhaps. so, where is this unconditional return??? I guess we do not understand politics.!! This is hell price to pay.....

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sdra Anon 09:54,

On his part, CSL left it to the President to offer him/his son/his "macai" any post.

This is what he meant by "unconditional" return.

To achieve "greater peace" in the MCA, surely OTK himself knows "what" to do/offer.

This is compronmise--not price to pay--for the sake of unity and stability, which ensures that the top leaders including OTK stay on for accomplish their jobs, missions & visions.

In politics, "GIVE & TAKE" is essential. We must ensure the CO-EXISTENCE & CO-SURVIVAL of everybody who share the same party objectives.

Who lives if MCA dies? Please think!

  8. MCA President is the time to use a big AXE chop down those recalcitrantes of the GUP/ROS. Those discharged appoint Brutus going back home to eat ubi kayu. The remains of Brutus shrink off ministerial post before going to Court. MCA need time to heal and restructure state liason chief and CC with post. MCA comes back to silence and wish of Chinese is lastly achieved. OTK - the new image of MCA President until 2011. The only president respected by chinese since 80's.

  9. Serve you right for being ungrateful. Thats your reward for your greed and for working with the Brutuses. The party can do with lesser Brutuses. To all remaining Brutuses, this is the reward you will get eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  10. If Brutus is not careful , and still wants to proceed with the EGM , he will end up just an MP if lucky , if unlucky end up everything gone and spend time in prison .

You should know when to call it a day , live to fight another round . When your chips are down and yet still insists to fight , sorry lah , you'll know the answer very soon . You are not aware of what you are up against ! Leave it to you guys to figure that out .

  11. I have this triumphant feeling after reading this central committee meeting outcome. The Brutus gang represents noone but themselves which are a group of selfish people.

Datuk Seri OTK, thanks for taking the action. We need a stern MCA leader to lead us through the difficult times. Don't have to give face to the Brutus gang especially WKS. I despise his political character and wish to see him and his brother (Tiong) off from the politics. We need to axe him out one day!

  12. it's indeed a pretty good outcome for yesterday's CC meeting.

public might perceive the outcome negatively but as party loyalist, i guess we have to be happy and CELEBRATE the outcome. LTL will definitely lose in the battle with ROS's confirmation as it was made based on MCA constitution ! but we do have to understand his position ... he's as dead as a dead cat on the road !

well, in order to rectify the public's perception, MCA needs to really work hard for the next 2 years or even less, before next general election. uphill task but if OTK can kaotim the case of PKFZ (which is super difficult), public might have a different perception by then.

well done to our mr.president. sincerely hope OTK and CSL can work together ... to all party loyalists, we need to support the outcome.

    cheers.

  13. Justice For All11/04/2009 09:50:00 AM

Once again congratulations to MCA and also not to forget about the justice4otk's bloggers who have been diligently giving MCA undivided moral support in this trying time. Righteousness prevails. At the same time I am of the opinion that since it is a family quarrel all should close rank for a united MCA. Every one should be sincere as loyal MCA members irrespective of who they had been supporting, for the just concluded CC meeting ought to signal the ending of the darkest impasse the party ever had. If any of the leaders thought that they have been unjustifiably or unconstitutionally treated or dismissed I advise them to ponder rationally, and then I hope you will be able to see the light with clear conscience.
As for the four CCMs who were appointed last October, their tenure is subject to be reviewed annually. The President of the party is vested with the power to appoint and thus he has the power to dismiss. Of course in this instance any sanely president would have taken the same action. Appointed CCMs should have the moral and political obligation to assist the President in executing his vision for the betterment of the party.
Wong Nai Chee and Wong Fook Meng, study and interpret the Constitution correctly especially Article 30 and 31 to be read together and their interpretation and application. As FOUR of the REQUISITIONISTS have been dismissed by the president in the period before the notices for the EGM have issued, at this material time the number of requisitionists is no longer enough for the EGM to be called. The requisition for EGM has become null and void.
LTL should not be emotional. It clouds your thinking capacity and may harm your image as a politician. You have lost nothing. Reverting to the Vice Presidency. CSL has been accorded of whatever is constitutionally his the Deputy Presidency. Every association registered under The Society Act 1966 / Akta Pertubuhan 1966 is under the jurisdiction of the Registrar Of Society of Malaysia, political parties included. If you have suffered form amnesia may I remind you that UMNO was deregistered by the ROS and very recently PPP too had to abide by the instruction of ROS following the dispute of the Presidency of the Party. NO one is above the law of the country. We have to abide by the constitution of the party thus to respect and follow the interpretation of the laws provided. The appointment of LTL as Deputy President by the CC on 15th Oct should have never been done until CSL had exhausted his avenues to be reinstated as Party Deputy President after the outcome of the EGM. Everyone has been talking about respecting the results of the EGM and thus we have to walk the talk.
Be matured politicians and magnanimous that the majority of the CCMs, members and Malaysians at large want to see a united MCA by subscribing to the GREATER UNITY PLAN. Be part of the success story.

  14. Go for the jugular, OTK !

Sack not only Chor, but also kick both WKS and fried noodles out of MCA as well.

As for LTL, MCA has no place for an double-crossed idiot, either.

    Go for the jugular !!!

  15. Yeah! Kalambong. Now you are talking.

    1. Have MCA Youth EGM to remove Wee
    2. Have MCA Wanita EGM to remove Chew Mei Fun

    Resolution:

    1. Vote of no confidence for Wee/Chew for their
unbecoming actions as head of Youth/Wanita in MCA Greater Unity Plan

    2. Remove Wee/Chew From their position as Head of Youth/Wanita

    3. A new election to vote for new Youth/Wanita Head

  16. In this moment of rejoicing let us not forget to say thank you to the man who make this possible. He is Datuk Seri CSL. Without him agreeing to bury the hatchet this will not be possible. Thank you Datuk Seri CSL you are really a statesman. Now both of you can rebrand MCA and win back the support of the chinese community and not the least the raayat. Syabas CSL.

  17. Sdra Kalambong & Sdra Anon 11:08:00,

When Sdra Justice4OTK said "close ranks", we need to understand that every quarell is over.

Don't worry about WKS & CMF; they will vanish at their own pace....

The interest & future of the MCA are of utmost importance; not the sacking of those two idiots!

Let's join other BN component parties in winning the 13th GE firstlah.

MCA is useless and worthless if it ( & BN) loses the GE.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL BLOGGERS ESPECIALLY TO JUSTICE4OKT HANDLERS.

  18. Decades ago, China suffered a tremendous set back, at the hand of the "Gang of 4".

Only after the "Gang of 4" was defeated, and all remaining effect of that "Gang of 4" removed, wiped clean, could China finally stand up.

    See what has China become?

    A giant !!

Without removing the "Gang of 4", China would still be in turmoil, just like North Korea.

MCA too has suffered under a "Gang of 4".

Will MCA stand up strong and regain all its glory, just like China?

Well... this depends on the will of all the MCA members.

Are you going to get rid of the "Gang of 4"?

Are you going to get rid of ALL the machais who support that "Gang of 4"?

If you are, then, MCA has a bright future.

But if you guys start to hesitate, and/or believe in that "forgive and forget" lie wrapped in a beautiful package, then MCA will become another MIC, useless, meaningless, irrelevant.

It's up to you, MCA members.

Which way MCA gonna go, you decide.

MCA's future is in your hand.

    Decide wisely !

  20. I fully support kalambong's view. MCA cannot fully recover unless the tumours are removed.
Seeing how the gang of 3 and 9 CC members behaved, MCA will still be in turmoil. They will drag MCA in the courts. This will be like a replay of Perak. These people will sabotage MCA from inside in the next election. See what happened to UMNO.

The close rank thing is just a nice sound. It means nothing.

  21. YES IT IS TIME TO GET HOLD OF LIOW, WEE AND CHEW (LWC) COMBINATION AND FINISH THEM OFF POLITICALLY. LIOW WANTED TO BE A PRESIDENT VERY BADLY, WEE AND CHEW WANTED TO BE A FULL MINISTER. THREE OF THEM GANG UP TO TOPPLE OTK, IT IS THAT SIMPLE. AFTER LIOW BECOME PRESIDENT, NG YEN YEN WILL BE DROPPED, REPLACED BY CHEW, OTK PORTFOLIO WILL BE TAKEN UP BY WEE.

  22. Whether or not "close rabks" is rhetorical, we still need to close the ranks & files, for the sake of party's future.

What use if we were to win the control of the party and/or important positions but we lose the war out there (the next GE)?

What PM Najib said below is appropriate:

"Asked if Chor would be replaced following his sacking, Najib said the matter has not been discussed but stressed that it was up to the government to decide and it has nothing to do with MCA.

The prime minister instead said MCA should focus more on winning the trust of the Chinese community instead of worrying about Chor's post in the government." (The Malaysianinsider.Com)

We need to move on to our varous positions and do what is needful to regain the community's confidence in us.

If we still prefer to carry on fighting internally and 'syok sendiri', we should not blame others for treating us like dogs!

  23. Look, what Najib says is irrelevant to MCA.

This is a matter of MCA, and it is the MCA members who have to get the things into order.

Although Najib is the head of BN, he doesn't have MCA's future as his top priority.

What you guys need to do is to make sure you do not have FGZs anymore, for you not only need to face the opposition (DAP/PKR/PAS), but you also need to face UMNO, and furthermore, the Chinese community at large will also judge you by your own performance.

If you can't get rid of the FGZs once and for all, they will hamper your progress, and ultimately the Chinese community will desert you.

But it is up to you to decide.

If you feel like you need to close rank (aka, include the FGZ into your "rank"), then do so.

Just don't cry mommy when they back stabbed you guys in the future, because by then, you would have lost the confidence by the Chinese community.

  24. Action against PKFZ culprits? Najib non-committal

    By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak appeared non-committal today when asked if the government would act on the recommendations made by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.

Instead of giving a direct reply, Najib only said the government was looking into the matter and that it would not "cover up any weaknesses or offence committed”.

"We will consider taking legal action if there is a need," said Najib at a press conference in Parliament.

PAC, which released its report on the PKFZ scandal today, strongly suggested that the government investigate those responsible.

Those named by PAC include former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy and former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager Datin Paduka O.C. Phang.

Najib said his Cabinet had already instructed a special task force set up under the Chief Secretary to the Government to include the input from the PAC report.

LOL looks like Najib is not going to get his UMNO goons implicated...

  25. I said it once and I am saying it again:

Najib's does not put MCA's future as his top priority.

True, Najib is the head of BN, and true, there must be proper respect for his rank.

However, that doesn't mean MCA must follow each and every of Najib's commands since MCA's survival must still comes first !

Remember this: If MCA dies, BN would not close its doors.

But if MCA closes shop, what would you, the MCA members, have left?

What would the Chinese community in Malaysia would have left?

    Think about it.

  26. We hear you , all your comments noted , but don't expect miracles to happen overnight .

Brutuses will have to go , including those elected which they will stay elected for the time being since you will need an EGM from the youth and wanita wings to remove the two brutuses . I think they will be put into cold storage for the moment and let them stay frozen until its time for the next party election . Hopefully being frozen , they will not be able to contaminate the rest .
