Don't let MCA 'weeping drama' influence events

I refer to the Malaysiakini report 'Disowned' duo make tearful plea for EGM.

Liow Tiong Lai's faction or generally referred to as the 'Third Force' is just a splinter faction from Ong Tee Keat' main force after the Oct 10 EGM. Ong inherited these 'political babies' when their joint mentors Chan Kong Ckoy and Ong Ka Ting suddenly faded into forced retirement after the 2008 March general election.

Initially, this group of 'babies' were mentored to take over from Ka Ting and Kong Choy when both retired willingly. But men can only propose and destiny had it that the Ka Ting and Kong Choy combination could not survive longer than one term.

Ka Ting Kong Choy are gone for good but their residual influence continues to haunt the party, particularly during turbulent times. This is 'puppet politics' and MCA cannot live on puppet politics just as Umno cannot live under the shadows of Dr Mahathir Mohamad or Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Therefore, Ong made the right move when he purged these people from the MCA presidential council earlier this week.

There is nothing to cry about actually. Wee Ka Siong and Chew Mei Fun are the culprits behind the current crisis starting with the sacking of Chua Soi Lek on Aug 26 . Thereafter, immediately after the Oct 10 EGM, Wee and Chew led by Liow jumped into action to grab power through the Oct 15 central committee meeting.

Had they succeeded on that fateful day, Chew would have replaced Ng Yen Yen and Wee would take over from Ong as full ministers. Look how great the rewards are so no wonder Wee and Chew were so tireless in working for the removal of Ong whether constitutional or otherwise.

Why must they cry? All they need to do is not cry but self-reflect and soul search for what they had done to Soi Lek on the night of Aug 26. Both Chew and Wee were talking flamboyantly and rebutted sharp questions from the press on the issue of democracy in MCA when they joined forces to push for the sacking of Chua.

To them, at that point of the time, it was alright and perfectly democratic to sack a popularly elected deputy president. Now that Ong has used his presidential powers to remove them from an appointed post, they pretend to be upset. Wee and Chew cried foul and wept openly to capitalise on public sympathy. This is a very much a drama prearranged to arouse public sentiment over a small political matter.

Why cry? Cry for what? Cry for the rakyat's sufferings or for their own political agenda? They cried jointly so that more people will join them in subverting MCA by playing a game called 'a party within a party'.

They cried jointly so that more members will stand behind them and be fooled by them into pursuing the illegal Nov 28 EGM. Have they ever thought how Chua Soi Lek supporters felton Aug 26?

Now that Najib Abdul Razak the prime minister can offer to help, the PM must help to get rid of Ong Ka Ting's and Chan Kong Choy's puppet politics in MCA for otherwise the MCA will never be peaceful. The prime minister himself has suffered enough by Mahathir's puppeteering in Umno, so he knows what to do.

On the issue of fresh elections, it is something not worth trying for there is no guarantee that fresh polls will bring about a balanced team. Before the fresh polls are held, everybody will swear to abide by the outcome but the losers will not return to the fold. The loser will not accept graciously the fact that they are losers.

Just like what is happening right now, the Liow faction which commands no majority in the central committee, refuses to abide by the central committee's decision. Liow wants to have an EGM to push for fresh polls, even if it means holding an illegal session for the 2,380 central delegates on Nov 28.

They understand no democracy and their democratic convictions hold true only when they are in charge of running the party. The moment other factions run the show, Liow and his followers will go all out to disrupt everything including subverting the party constitution.

So why carry on with fresh polls when no definite and secured solution can emerge from the ballot box? The work of Liow faction is more or less like the Pakatan Rakyat parties. They are only comfortable when democratic elections happen to bring victory to them. When this does not happen, Pakatan parties will often blame the Election Commission for the slightest mistake.

Come on, MCA does not belong to the 10 CC members only. Just because only 10 rightful CC members and a couple of frustrated leaders harp on EGM and fresh elections over and over again, we quickly conclude that the situation is very serious. Are we putting too much pressure on ourselves and are we being fair to MCA members at large?

Are we unduly influenced by the scenes of the two deputy ministers weeping openly, and jump to conclude that something very serious has happened in the MCA? Is weeping a sign of a political crisis or is it just an indication of emotional weakness?

We have got to be sensible and reasonable. Nobody should make use of this 'weeping drama' to influence political events. Politics is meant for the courageous and people who are emotionally- matured.

If we allow ourselves to be so easily influenced by tears, we may as well amend the Election Act to make way for the underaged people to participate in the voting process. By doing that, more people will weep openly when something goes only slightly wrong.

  2. Don't allow the minority to control the majority. A resolution to sack the 10 CC members should be proposed at the forthcoming AGM. The CDs must muster all their courage to dispose of the scum in the party. The minority who want to hold the majority to ransom must be taught a lesson for their follies. They say that they are acting in the name fo democracy, but not heeding the decision of the majority democracy? What kind of democracy are they subscribing to? There is no alternative but to give them the boot.

GUP is a blue print to rebuild MCA through uniting, healing and serving the community effectively. This is a solution to rebuild and rejunevate the party. Wisdom is correct that re-election is not the solution to the impasse of the party, if the mindset of LTL, WKS and CMF remain the same. The BIG I should be demolished. Respect the MAJORITY AND SUBSCRIBE to the REAL DEMOCRACY.

Reform is the answer. Starting with GUP which has been inclusive and nobody has been excluded till now. The exclusion of WKS and CMF in the PC is their own making. They have stated categorically that they did not support GUP. But GUP has been sanctioned by the party in the CC meeting, any of the principal office bearers who goes against the plan has breached the party constitution. MCA cannot have PC members whose function are at the implementation stages. Having them would definitely impede the effectiveness any plan or reform.

Reasons why re-election is not the answer to the MCA problem.
    1. The minority will always requisition for an EGM to show dissatisfaction. Just 1/3 or merely 13 or 14 CCMs can call for one.
    2. The minority will always make simultaneous press conferences after each CC meeting conflicting the decision of the party.
    3. The minority will always make statements to TV3, NTV 7, Sinchew, Nanyang and China Press twisting and spinning fictions to destabilise the party.
    4. The minority will not respect the hierarchical set up of the party. Shouting and bangging table is their culture. Talking loudly menacingly together means power and can subdue the chair. etc-etc

Thus implement GUP first, for at least 6 months. Put the house in order first. Inculcate and instill the good values of a leader in the leaders. Enlighten them about the CORRECT DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES and also make them study the Party Constitution and the duty of ROS. Reform them!!
Re-election can come later on when everyone has come to his senses. The outcomes of the re-election if it is allow to proceed will have the merry-go-round effect. What goes round will come around. You do me 1st day of the moon I do you 15th day of the moon.

  4. Justice For All,

I agree with you GUP is a step forward, but this small and painless step already the gang of three refuse to cooperate...their intention is very clear isn't it.

I think OTK, CSL team should stand firm on the GUP and stop further negotiation with the trouble makers and entertain their monkeys business but move on...axe them if they cause further trouble, they like it or not is their own problem.......

  5. Dear LTL, CMF, WKS,

You all had heavily denied yourself as the own hurt by your beloved boss OTK.
You all had heavily tried to convince everyone you all did not back stab OTK.
You all had denied whatever you all have done is the right thing to do.
You all had denied you all did not betray OTK and have not voted against him during the 10/10 EGM.

    However,

Whatever you all are doing currently have greatly, deeply, grievously admit, you all are the 3rd force, dirty, filthy, greedy, lusty, who have at all no dignity, BACK-STABBED OTK and til now attempting to topple OTK.

If you know what's right what's wrong, you won't be here propaganda-ing your self proclaimed meaning of democracy.

It is such a disgrace to MCA/people in Malaysia especially the Chinese that people with shit brains are the current leaders of the country that we reside.

Do you know why only OTK only survived in Selangor? Because people know how great a leader he is, uncorrupted like you all shit brains.

Come GE13, I assure you, every constituency you shit brains are at, I'll come and haunt you with all the dirty deeds that you all have committed.

  8. Dear Wisdom,

When money talks, no one, not me, not you, not J4OTK, not even OTK himself can stop it.

And the matter at hand in MCA right now is money is doing all the talking.

Stupid me in believing that the members in MCA are of the conscientious type.

    I ought to know better.

We Chinese have this perennial myopia, that as long as we got paid, the whole world can go to hell.

And that is exactly what is happening in MCA.

As long as those central delegates are getting paid, they will put OTK up for slaughter.

Arm no knows the Chinese well, and they are using this to topple OTK.

But I am being unfair to the MCA central delegates. They are not alone in being myopic.

The Chinese tycoons like William Cheng and TS Pheng are also helping arm no in destroying OTK and MCA. They also do it for the mighty moolah!

  11. Residues or left over disciples of OKT/CKC are like cancer eating out the core of full blooded democratic/loyal leaders/admimistrators of MCA, if left unchecked will be a constant source of pain/disburbances and rebellion as long as the party exists. How long can these be tolerated is yet to be seen. It is suggested - restore the disciplinay board to do its duty and have them booked for breach of party constitution and proper action taken. The enemy within though laudable often speak of democracy are dressed up to kill with different and concerted agendas of their own or from former political masters must be dealt with a blow big enough to put an end to schism and schemes to rest and forever. Unless this is done all the meaning and well-intentioned plans for the party will come to nought. It is high time that thinking leaders espouse a long term plan to resusitate the party even if it means they have to make sacrifices involving bloodshed/death can only the party be seen to rise from its demise in the huge loss in GE12.
By the way have you read Tom on Greater unity in Malaysiakini which blasted about no democracy concerning OTK/CSL? Often wonder why an ex journalist of the Stars feigned ignorance of the distinction between legal and moral of an issue. OTK need not resign because the constitution of the party says so. The central delegate is merely one of the mechanism of the constitution to solve problems and must be read together for harmononious resolution of a case and not by itself. What OTK promised can only be considered as moral as polticians can say almost about anything in the heat of the moment to address certain situation at the time of perception but not necessarily resulting in legal intention to bind himself. From the political arena of course one can say he went back on his promises but that must be understood in the whole context unless he really meant to give up his legal rights under the constitution. Like Tan Chai Ho said who has not made mistake - we are all humans. If the curtain is unrolled by a divine or all seeing eyese it will be discovered that the accusers make very much worse mistakes than OTK. Only God knows and yourselves? or perhaps you don't really know yourself that well. But ignorance of a crime is not an excuse. So looking as a whole there is no problem with the decision of Oct 10 egm, the problem lies with those who refuse to admit the veracity of the constitution which allow the carrying out of the egm in the first place. The other point is that those who keeps on talking about the morality of the simple majority of Oct.10 egm, what about the morality of the law concerning the 2/3 requirement? So they must think carefully when the make statement n the press. Peoople with understanding mind whether educated or not received higher education can grapple or grasp the issue without any problem. It is only with those bias, the prejudiced and the stubborn and the lopsided press and the uninformed who like a slice of the joy in killing someone they don't like because of certain leanings and therefore their views are not rooted in principles/right doings. So be thinking and reasonable members of society. You must do what is right and do not be on the side of evil. Unbias

The "mini drama" directed by LTL and acted by WKS and CMF is being played over and over again to the Wanita and Youth CCMs through phone-calls. Using it to plead for support for the coming UNCONSTITUTIONAL EGM. They portray themselves being suppressed, embarrassed, and sidelined by the president in the recent reshuffle. Maybe crying too to melt the delegates' heart. I should find out. Some of the CCMs are being forced by their bosses who are aligned to LTL to attend the EGM. They may be there but they WILL VOTE AGAINST the resolutions.

The MCA HQ should send out official letters to CCMs reminding them of the status of the UNCONSTITUTION EGM and its implications. They must be fore-warned that they attend the illegal at their own risk.

MCA HQ have consulted renowned lawyers pertaining to the legality of the EGM which should be commended. They have found the 2nd EGM unconstitutional. There is no harm to enquire from ROS for the second opinion pertaining to the legality of the 2nd EGM. This will nail their stubborness.

They rightfully requisition the EGM under Article 30.2. No argument about that. But since the resolutions are unconstitutional therefore the 2nd EGM is unconstitutional. It is like getting a licence to sell medicine is no problem. But the same licence if use to sell illegal drug is illegal. Hope by using the simple analogy, LTL, WKS and CMF who have blurr vision and brain will understand. As I do not want to see "MCA leaders" conducting illegal assembly.

NOV 22 — What the Greater Unity Plan involves and implies-Thomas Lee(MI)

Thomas is too judgmental with a blur vision and faculty. The constitution of the party is supreme and thus any action taken has to conform with it.
Pertaining to the outcomes of the 10.10.10 EGM you have written your article with vengeance. OTK made a pledge to his then ardent supporters LTL and cohorts who then secretly plotted to stabbed OTK at the back by gathering CDs to vote against OTK in the EGM so as to execute a coup de tat. The outcomes of the EGM became handicapped to OTK and CSL thus after finding out the plot OTK is politically, morally and constitutionally to stay on as President. Any sane person will do the same. Won't you do the same if you were OTK, my dear Thomas?!

  17. (1) QUALITY OF DELEGATES

Every political party has this problems: Not all delegates are of same quality/std.Some can be bought; some fight on principles;many are fence-sitting like lalang

That's why Umno amended its constitution so that its President can be elected by a larger group, instead of the 3000 to 4000+ delegates.

Delegates are (and remain delegates for decades)like that because of their mentality. Each has his/her own background/motive/agenda/principle....

Majority of them, in my humble view, have no principle. So for them, "having no principle" is actually "a principle" also!

That's why we observed that they were and still are subjected to manipulations by the leaders/candidates....

By enlarging the base of voting members, we are able to avoid manipulations by certain personalities/quarters, whether within or outside the MCA.

    (2) PARTY RE-ELECTION

I think it is now inevitable that party re-election needs to be held soon. January 2010 is a good fengshui month.

OTK needs to face the reality. As a genuine gold, I think and believe that he is not afraid of fire: 真金不怕火!

Since the "minority" Liow's gang still cried father cried mother that there was no democracy in the party, we now give them their democratic rights to contest for positions.

They (Liow & co)shall regret after the results of the January 2010 AGM are known!

OTK must stay back to defend his post. It is expected that either Liow or Ka Chuan may challenge him(OTK). Let's see how their LPs are smashed against the 'bullion' (OTK)!hehehe

CSL, in line with his statement in the past, is most likely to defend his No.2 position. Who wants to challenge him is not our concern, and he (CSL) does not care. I think majority will still support him, for he is still capable to contribute to the party--especially in assiting OTK to implement party reforms etc....

In the event that CSL "succumbs" to the wishes of his political master(s) and has to challenge OTK -- in a 3-corner fight maybe -- that is fine for OTK.

OTK had been in the sea of politics (政海) for 28 years and he never lost a 'war' except the 1010 EGM which gave him "a slap on the wrist"!

Come on, get up, Sdra OTK: Let's go for one last hurdle in your political life.

To you, RIGHT IS RIGHT, WRONG IS WRONG. There is no other way.

    That's the trouble with you!

You (wrongly) assumed/thought that every person has your quality: Top in the class since primary to SMK Confucian; and then straight 5As in HSC; and then Engineering Faculty in UM....

Please take a step backward: Go and face the political challenges heads-on. Take the Ox (Liow is an ox born in 1961) by the horns....

    You shall triumph!伟大胜利

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GOOD HEALTH & GOOD LUCK!

PENANG, Nov 22 — MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and his group have consulted their lawyers on the validity of holding the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) this year.
The health minister said they had consulted a big legal firm in the country on the validity of holding the EGM scheduled for Nov 28, and contended that their calling for it was based on the party’s constitution.

Could LTL please name the law firm that you have consulted which confirmed that the 2nd EGM is legal. Also do not be illusive to the point of being hypothetical, state specifically the justifications given by your very big legal firm proving the legality of the EGM. We are not fools to be easily taken for a ride. OTK and CSL have named the renowned lawyers and a famous law firm which they have consulted regarding the legality of the EGM. They were of the opinion that the EGM is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
LTL, WKS and CMF are you conversant with the Party Constitution? No, isn't it. Please refer to the Party Constitution before making statements which touch on it.
The 2nd EGM was legally requisition according to Article 30.2. But the reasons given and the resolutions in the requisition for the EGM were defective with irregularities thus making the EGM UNCONSTITUTIONAL. How could you conduct an EGM with unconstitutional resolutions?
