Don: Choose a reliable leader

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA should vote for a leader who can work for the community instead of serving his own interests and that of his cronies, academician Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Khoo Kay Kim said.

Dr Khoo appealed to the MCA central delegates to pick leaders with integrity and reliability at the extraordinary general meeting on Oct 10.

“They (central delegates) have to be very careful when choosing a leader. They must pick a leader they can trust.

“Do not vote for those who have personal agendas and who only work for themselves as well as cronies. If that happens, you should blame yourselves as you were the ones who elected the leaders,” said Dr Khoo when contacted.

Dr Khoo was asked to comment on the EGM where delegates would be voting on a no-confidence motion against party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

The motion was one of five proposed by supporters of former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

Dr Chua was earlier suspended by the MCA central committee over his sex DVD scandal.

Dr Khoo said that although the Chinese community was an open society, it did not mean that they would ignore issues of morality.

“The Chinese community is quite tolerant but it is very difficult for a leader with bad reputation to lead a party.

“All sort of stories will be circulated every time his or her name is mentioned. When we pick a leader, we would want good things to be said about him or her.

“Many people insist that morality is an important issue even when the leader is capable,” he said.

Dr Khoo said people with a bad reputation might be able to get support through bribery.“The leaders can buy time by giving out money but sooner or later, the people will suffer when the leaders are unable to perform,” he said.

We have one here though , caught with his pants down and taped having sex with his mistress for all to see and yet refused to step down and in the process created a hella of bullshit and chaos for the party blaming the president for his problems .

If only he could do the honorable thing as to what the former Japanese Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa had done .

TOKYO, Japan (CNN) -- Former Japanese Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa, who resigned from his post after appearing intoxicated at a news conference earlier this year, was found dead in his home Sunday, police told CNN.

Shoichi Nakagawa resigned three days after appearing intoxicated at a G7 news conference in Rome.

Tokyo police found Nakagawa, 56, lying face down on a bed on the second-floor of his home, Kyodo reported.

Nakagawa submitted his resignation February 17, just three days after he appeared intoxicated at the G7 news conference in Rome, Italy. Japan's prime minister quickly appointed Kaoru Yosano, the economics minister, to replace Nakagawa.

Nakagawa's resignation had followed an announcement by Japan's main opposition party that it would introduce a motion to censure him.

He had apologized for his behavior, but denied that it was the result of heavy drinking. Nakagawa said he had alcoholic drinks on his flight to Rome and during the G7 luncheon, but that the real culprit was too much medicine taken because he wasn't feeling well, Kyodo reported.

In video of the news conference, Nakagawa responds slowly to reporters questions, slurring his words. At one point, he closes his eyes.

The G7 meeting brought together finance ministers from the world's leading industrialized nations in Rome.

The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) is a showcase of the struggle of the Chinese community to live with dignity in Malaysia. And it’s a story that I didn’t read in a book, or learn in a classroom. I saw it and lived it.

I visualize a small man from China who braved the dangerous stormy seas to seek a better life in this country some seven decades ago. That small man with thick calluses on both hands worked 15 and 16 hours a day.

A man who came here uneducated, alone, unable to speak the language, who taught me all I needed to know about faith, morality and hard work by the simple eloquence of his example.

I learned about our kind of democracy from my father. And I learned about our obligation to each other in our family from him and from my mother. They seek a chance to work and to make the world better for their children, and they asked to be protected in those moments when they would not be able to protect themselves. This nation and this nation’s government, BN in general and MCA in particular did that for them.

All these moving stories and legacies of MCA is now at risk and the continued existence of MCA will be decided on the 10/10/2009 EGM at the MCA Hq. This EGM has been a brutalizing process. Two factions face each other and only one will be left standing.

On the one hand, there is the suspended deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek who was found guilty by the Disciplinary Board for bringing disrepute to the party. Chua was caught with his pants down on film indulging in an extramarital sex in a hotel room in his hometown of Batu Pahat. Stripped of his party position, he has resorted to exhortation and pleading tearfully to be restored to his former position.

To the public, Chua has destroyed two most cherished institutions in our Asian society – the sanctity of marriage and family. To fellow Malaysians, Chua’s indiscretion has left him little to build on, save bitterness.

If Chua wins and takes over the presidency - we will see the dire consequences of what the central delegates had done, inevitable remorse and divisive recriminations will scar our spirits as Chinese people.

On the other hand, there is the incumbent president, Ong Tee Keat. His whole political life has been nothing but one long struggle for his people. He is outspoken and highly principled. His political ascension in MCA has been a long arduous journey. Ong is the sole MCA Member of Parliament in Selangor to survive the political tsunami of the 2008 General Election.

As president, he is resolved to transform and change MCA to meet the new aspirations of the younger generation of electorates and changed political environment. His righteous cause is to champion the desire of the people for a government which upholds morality, transparency and accountability.

He has even put his political career on line by his dogged determination to solve the multi billion ringgit PKFZ scandal amidst opposition from within and outside MCA and BN. He is determined to save our future generations from the mountains of debt being incurred in this PKFZ financial fiasco.

The future of MCA will depend on whether the central delegates have the courage to meet the challenges ahead and to live the future with dignity just as our shirtless and barefooted forefathers who came to this shores decades ago.

Nobody else can defeat or humiliate MCA – only its member can do that. The role of the central delegates, must be to vote as their moral conscience dictate, so that, 20 years from now when they are sitting with their grandsons on their knees and they ask them what they did in the MCA EGM 2009, the central delegates won’t have to cough, shift their grandsons to the other knee and say – “Well your granddaddy/grandma rode with the righteous Ong Tee Keat and shot down the tainted Chua Soi Lek, to give MCA and the Chinese community a life of dignity they richly deserve.

The future and the welfare of the Chinese community can never be protected or enhanced by a leader with a tainted record.

Patrizia D’Addario — who at 42 is more than 30 years Berlusconi’s junior — has already made what she claimed were tapes of their intimate pillow talk. But the potential political embarrassment she might cause on live TV had the government incandescent in the run-up to last night’s broadcast.

And she duly delivered by dismissing the prime minister’s claims that he was unaware that she was a call girl, in a live interview beamed from the southern city of Bari. “He knew — everyone at the parties knew,” she said in reference to the now infamous gatherings the media mogul premier hosted in Rome and Sardinia.

Berlusconi, whose Mediaset empire controls three private TV channels, dismissed the show as a “criminal use of public television”. “Inviting a prostitute on to throw mud at the prime minister is a disgrace,” he had earlier told La Stampa newspaper.

The Italian leader denies having paid for sex, or knowingly sleeping with prostitutes, and has dismissed claims by his estranged wife that he frequents minors, including Noemi Letizia, a would-be starlet whose 18th birthday party he attended.

D’Addario, who faced hovered on a giant screen above the seated guests, flicked her long blond hair nervously as she listened to Berlusconi supporters accuse her of exploiting and then betraying the prime minister.

She denied however, that she had given the supposed recordings of their pillow talk to the press. And she said that she had “absolutely nothing to be ashamed of”.

I have received information on some monkey tricks which will be used to confuse delegates .

I have been told that there's a Youth Chairman of a certain Perak Division who is align to Chua Soi Lek have recently contacted a service provider from the internet whereby this service provider will charge a certain fee for every sms sent out . The sms sent out will bear the phone number which the the requester supplies .

For example if the requester supplies the phone number of Tan Sri Musa Hassan , the IGP to this service provider and requests that 500 sms be sent out to those persons whose names are provided in a lists with the message , " All criminals will be released and pardoned in conjunction with World Criminals Day " . The message will be sms out bearing the phone number of Tan Sri Musa .

This is what they are intending to do to confuse the delegates but I am going to give the master mind a subtle warning . We know who you are , your name , your position , your division , your state , your address . You are fore warned . If you sent messages bearing the hand phone numbers of any officials of MCA , Deputy Ministers of MCA and Ministers of MCA particularly the President and confirmed that they have not sent such messages , we shall take immediate action .

WE will make a direct police report to Bukit Aman , to the Special Branch Division and to the Commercial Crimes Division , the moment we detect such unsrupulous bogus sms .

Of Late the CSL camp has been sending out pamphlets on the " Leaked documents " details RM10 mil transfer , downloaded from Malaysiakini which I just received today . Watch out for more dirty ricks which I shall post as updates .

I am surprised that they have used articles from Malaysiakini which is usually an MCA bashing portal spinning lies , half truths and untruths . So in other words , MCA members have used articles written by Malaysiakini to bash and spin untruths to MCA delegates . As it is the 10 million have not been proven to have been given to Ong Tee Keat , hence the 500 million suit against Tiong .

I shall now reproduce what I wrote sometime back in response to these lies and spins .

'Leaked documents' details RM10 mil transfer

A document has surfaced on the Internet with detailed descriptions of how Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing allegedly transferred RM10 million to MCA president Ong Tee Keat.

Contacted today, Tiong (right) confirmed the veracity of the document, describing it as a witness statement from one of his political aides.

However, he vehemently denied that he leaked the document, adding that he was surprised by how the document was "leaked".

"I didn't leak it. I have no idea where it came from. He (the witness) said he did not leak it," said Tiong, who is currently in China on business.

He said that other than his lawyers, only certain government agencies have the same document.

To me this is a FAKE Document, lets see what others comment on this issue .

Which assistant of corrupted politician-businessman has not tasted money and money's worth? He would even sign a Statutory Declaration and have it attested.

Not really credible in view that the shit had already hit the ceiling fan!! Moreover the date of the report is not convincing enough. If I were to rip off that kind of money from PKFZ, I could easily produce 50 copies of such reports.

i think this Azman fella is lying, he mentioned the counting too many times, why? unless he wanted to make sure the figures add up to the exact amount to make up the story, if this is acceptable they might as well ask Tiong to make one himself.

very funny - the guy Azman remembers everything in the 1st incident but not the car type or the number plate of the car where he unloaded 5 million ringgit.....strange, he seems to give every other account in detail except that. I think it's a fix by Tiong...the culprit is Tiong not Ong

Was the money meant to buy silence on PKFZ? If that is so, would one want to lose the opportunity to make sure that the other party does not raise his guard? The question that should be asked is why money was transferred willingly without condition as it would appear? Was it not the intention to stop further investigation by claiming that money have been transferred? If it was a donation to a political party, was that meant to make the party obliged not to pursue PKFZ. If the gift was to the Minister was it meant to make him obliged not to pursue the matter. In life, one cannot demand other not to try to influence one's actions. When one is in public office, not taking a ride offered could constitute an offence, especially one has been around in the same social circle.

It was said that money were laid in boxes, and boxes transferred. Are they the same boxes, and even if it is do we know that the content remains the same?
When the persons take million as pettey cash, made possible by getting people to sign payment in billions as if a donation by the government, it is not difficult to create doubts, especially at the time when hot battle is being pursued.

If I were asked to receive the money, I would. And I would even deposit them in bank. But if what are actually received are fruits said to be from Sarawak, fruits certainly cannot be deposited at the bank.

For anyone now to jump to the conclusion to judge OTK, don't we need a more independant evidence and witness that this so called self declaration before we come to a conclusion?? This purported leak document ( not a SD ) is a Fake . Many questions unanswered .

For a political aide to the Chairman of the BBC to not being able to tell the difference between the car bonnet and the boot . Kept saying he put the money in the bonnet .
In para 6 and in para 13 there's always the statement that states Datuk Seri ( TKS ) walking out with Ong Tee Keat . If there's an illegal transfer of money , don't you think you should not want to be seen and photograph ? Any meeting could have been arranged to meet with OTK to discuss about other matters while not necessary for money transfer .
Any money transfers would not have been made so open and in fruit boxes ? or A4 size boxes ? why not just give a cheque since its a donation ? Why the need to keep emphasise he walked out with Ong Tee Keat ? Is it that Ong might not know anything at all about the transfer of money ? KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29, 2009) : Talk of a 'third force' within the MCA has resurfaced amid intense lobbying by both president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek as the party's extraordinary general meeting (EGM) draws near.

According to reports in the Chinese press, the third force is gearing up to bring down both Ong and Chua and to install a new team at the helm.

"Its (the third force's) plans are to get the first and second resolutions (vote of no-confidence against Ong and reinstate Chua as a party member) passed but reject the third resolution (reinstate Chua to his party post)," sources said.

They pointed out that the third force is a combination of veterans and the currently neutral faction in the party.

Its members are said to include both former Team A and Team B members such as former deputy president Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, former secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan and former vice-president Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai.

The report said Chan could not be reached for comment but Lim, when contacted, said he had no knowledge of the so-called third force, and quipped that he was just a "small fry".

Lim, who is Petaling Jaya Selatan division chief, added that he is watching the developments in the leadership tussle closely but is not personally involved. He also said the division will make a decision on who to support at the ballot box.

Sources said the third force's initial plan was to support vice-presidents Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha and Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai as alternative leaders to Ong and Chua but shelved it due its "premature exposure".

However, a pro-Chua central delegate told Oriental Daily that central delegates have a clear stand and said the third force would not have a significant impact on the outcome of the EGM on Oct 10.

EGM Action Committee chief coordinator Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho also said he had no knowledge of a third force coming into the picture.

Meanwhile, China Press reported that both Ong's and Chua's men, worried that the third force might throw a spanner in the works, are calling on central delegates to make up their mind to either support Ong or Chua.

The daily said the third force commands the support of about 10% of the some 2,400 central delegates who are able to vote in the EGM, big enough to upset both Ong and Chua come Oct 10.

In the meantime, both Ong and Chua have intensified their efforts to win the fence-sitters while making sure they keep whatever support they have already garnered.

"I believe the delegates will only choose one side to support. Even if there is such a force, it will not be strong enough to cause an impact," he said after attending the EGM coordination meeting chaired by party secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng today.

Asked if the third force was backed by some party veterans, Tan said: "I have no idea. My main task is to meet the delegates and fish more votes. I must let the delegates understand the real situation so that they can make a rational decision in the EGM."

Chua won with Ling's help ? Ha ha ha ha ...that's a great joke . Chua won through the Agong's Sign on paper being distributed to all the key divisional heads . Everyone know that except this reporter . Further it is a known fact that recently his son has been seen going round to certain divisions and delegates carrying what looks like a briefcase full of Sarawakian apples . In Sarawak they give money in fruit boxes , but here in Peninsula Malaysia its the other way round .So does it seem like do they need to call the Rotten Fish Head's help ? When the Small Rotten Fish Head has been going round ?

Chua won because many delegates were disillusioned with the Ong Brothers Sdn Bhd and also with the help from Chua Jui Meng's supporters who didn't like to see a Ong Dynasty taking over . Help from the Rotten Fish Head ? Mua Ha Ha Ha !!!!!!

Today the Sun is spinning Third force in MCA moving to install new team , consisting of former deputy president Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, former secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan and former vice-president Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai.

Can these former leaders wield so much power as to tilt the balance of power to become a force ? Please lah write more creditable and believable stories . The way you people in the SUN write such reports , I say please lah go back to school . You are all writing like novices just out of primary school .

On Chan Kong Choy , from the recent interview by PAC , I think he has better things to do rather than getting involved in politics again . At least he knows when to call it a day rather than someone who does not know when to exit quietly and with all his audience clamouring for more scenes or movies produce by this porn actor cum director .

On Kah Chuan , who got about a thousand votes means that many delegates in MCA didn't like the pornstar to vote for Kah Chuan . Add that to Donald's votes of 230 who didn't like either OKC or CSL means effectively CSL has only 40% of the votes .
So where did CSL's votes came from ? During the campaign , Jimmy Chua's supporters were campaigning for a Chua/Chua combination . Jimmy received over 800 votes . Assuming half of Jimmy's supporters who voted for Jimmy also voted for CSL , that means CSL himself had less than 700 votes from his supporters . If the percentage of Jimmy's supporters who voted for him were to go higher , CSL would in fact have very much lesser support .
Evidently Jimmy Chua's supporters are throwing their support behind Ong Tee Keat , and that is a fact cause Chua Soi Lek has played Jimmy Chua out twice in his last two party elections and this is pay back time .

On Donald , Chua played him out in the last party election by prematurely announcing he is contesting for a VP without his consent when in actual fact he wanted to go for the DP position . Chua in fact went round the country during his lunch and dinner talks telling everyone that he Donald is an idiot and a fool . Yes indeed , if he Donald were to support him now . Need I say more ?

So who is the Third Force ? Make believe personalities plucked out of thin air , or maybe , just maybe it represents UMNO croonies in Kuala Dimensi and the King from Bintulu , Sarawak .
