Vexed parent want principal's head to roll

By B Nantha Kumar

KULAIJAYA: A father, enraged by the alleged racist remarks uttered by the principal of SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra here, said that nothing short of a sacking would do.

Echoing this, Human Rights Party (HRP) pro-tem information chief S Jayathas warned that if the principal was let off with a slap on the wrist such as a transfer, the party would mount a demonstration.

“We want the principal sacked,” said the father, whose daughter studies in the school. “We heard that she (the principal) is on leave. Let her stay home for life.”

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the father said he did not wish to disclose his personal details because he was worried that his daughter would be harassed.

However, he said the government must ensure that “people like this” do not work in the civil service, especially in the education sector.

He also added that most of the parents wanted the principal to be given the boot to serve as a stern reminder for others not to cross the line.

The principal, identified as Siti Inshah Mansor, had allegedly told Chinese students to go back to China and had likened Indian students to dogs.

She had purportedly said this during a Merdeka celebration at the school, paving the way for 12 police reports to be filed and MIC calling for her to be charged with sedition.

The police are currently investigating the case.

Meanwhile, Jayathas said this was not the first time such a controversy had cropped up, and demanded that the perpetrators be dealt with severely.

“This is not the first time such a thing has happened. Now and then, uncivilised teachers appear and talk about meaningless issues.

“In the latest incident, it was a Merdeka celebration, and she (the principal) should have been talking about racial unity. She is unfit to be a teacher,” he told FMT.

  3. Agree, she is not fit to be a teacher, seriously. She should not be allowed to get in contact with young children ever again.
