The Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde of Guan Eng

DAP rebukes Chua over ill-conceived Islamic views

By Athi Shankar

GEORGE TOWN: The DAP today rebuked MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek for trying to pin the blame on Islam for problems faced in Muslim countries. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng called on Chua to raise serious questions on Umno’s rule pertaining to controversial issues such as use of the term “Allah” by non-Muslims and issuance of sports gambling permit.

“Don’t blame Islam for problems in Muslim countries. I think it’s not fair,” he told a press conference at the International Integrity Conference 2010 here today.

But he is insensitive to the Muslim Ramadan traders !!

KUANTAN: As local authorities create temporary trading sites to allow petty traders earn extra income during the fasting month, the Penang government is making it difficult for them to earn a livelihood.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this had raised the issue of the treatment of its people. "We thought that Penang under (Chief Minister Lim) Guang Eng would be more sensitive and concerned with the plight of the locals especially the Bumiputera traders as they do not earn much.

"He (Guan Eng) always claims to champion the rakyat but recent actions did not only cause a lot of problems for the traders but also are seen to be unfair and discriminatory."

He was asked to comment on the outcry by 27 traders who were not allowed to trade on the third floor of Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak (Komtar), a temporary trading site called Bazaar Ramadan created during the fasting month.

Muhyiddin said the state government should have discussed with the affected traders who had traded there for years and listened to their plight before carrying out the action.

"If he (Guan Eng) always says that he is fair and that the state government wants to help the people, it should have considered the effect on the small traders," he said at a press conference after launching the Pahang Biodiversity-Biotechnology Strategic Plan here yesterday.

  1. Grow uplah Justice34OTK. Please disassociate yourself and your Blog from YB Ong Tee Keat. Stop using his photos and name. He is certainly a class above you. You have not only tanished his good name with your profanities and vulgarities of those whom you dislike but also have provided ammunition for the Opposition to attack MCA and BN with your attacks on YB Chua Soi Lek and TDM.
