Man attempts to torch himself outside CM's office

FMT ALERT GEORGE TOWN: A 53-year-old coffeeshop owner doused himself with petrol in an attempt to commit suicide outside the Komtar building here, which houses Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's office. The man, identified as Teoh Bak Seng, was upset that several doors on the second floor had been closed to prevent public access due to security reasons.

Speaking to reporters earlier, he said the decision had cost him a loss of RM100-RM200 per day in revenue, which was almost 50% of his daily income.

Prior to that, Teoh had staged a lone protest with placards condemning the decision.

But when police officers attempted to pacify him, the businessman doused himself with petrol, and shouted: “Saya mahu bunuh diri” (I want to kill myself).

He was then arrested and taken to the police station located on the fourth floor of the building.

The doors were closed following an incident which saw an angry villager grabbing hold of the chief minister's shoulders and berating him for not helping Malay villagers.

The incident happened when Lim, whose office is on the 28th floor, was preparing to leave the building and had gone down to the second floor, where his driver's room is located.

Something must be very wrong with the Penang Cheap Minister ! All the ghosts coming out to haunt him !

DAP do nothing to help.....instead they make it more difficult for traders like the Teoh to earn a living.....Now who the Penang Cheap Minister going to blame!!!

Because we wrack DAP and the Penang Cheap Minister nonsences....DAP people have been shouting very loudly that I and Justice4otk are traitors to the Chinese.....

But who is making life difficult for those Chinese traders that one of them want to kill himself....so who is the Chinese traitor then???....if not for the MALAY police personnel Mr Teoh may be already dead.......where are the DAP people who claim they fought for the Chinese???....

Mark my words...the day will come that Penang people throw out Lim Guan Eng like we threw out his father...

  4. Chung Ling Dragon Boat victims.

If only this anon had read all the articles I wrote about this dragon boat tragedy !

    a) If the state govt had listened to the various agencies against moving the dragon boat festival to that area which is noted for its extreme currents , NO ONE would have died .
    b) If the state govt had maintained the festival to be held at the Telok Bahang Dam , NO ONE would have died .
    c) If they had moved it to the Mengkuang Dam , NO ONE would have died .
    d) They the state govt is claiming that they were not wearing life vests and not swimmers . If they were swimmers and wearing life vests they would still have PERISHED and DIED simply because the under current in that area was VERY STRONG .
This is evident two years ago when five Singaporean boat rovers died in the Dragon Boat festival held at the Mekong River in Cambodia where the under current was very strong .They were wearing life vests and were very strong swimmers .
e)The state govt has not called a Commission of Inquiry into their deaths .
    f) the state govt has not sacked its exco Danny Law who was responsible for shifting the venue from the Telok Bahang Dam to that Weld Quay area .
    g) Since its inception there has never been any deaths associated with dragon boat rowing under the BN govt .
Are we clowns to express our reservations ? anon 10:33pm ? If you think you have your right of free speech , we also have our rights to question the state govt on these . Our rights to free speech to say what we want to say . Our rights to think what is right or wrong .

    Typical DapAnjingPariah !

  7. Here is another MCA Blog that is claiming that the suicide note was written by Teoh Beng Hock. MCA has really sunk to the bottom of human decency. Read the crap here http://manifestogwl.blogspot.com/2010/08/teoh-beng-hocks-suicide-note.html

  8. That stupid fella. He cannot even commit suicide successfully. What else is he good for? A MCA member for sure.

  9. Let me tell you what I think after reading the newspaper on this "tempted suicide" by a small time biz man of Penang.

First and foremost, all including this biz man , have to thanks PR-DAP gov for giving KOMRTAR a new lease of life. Without this good gov, there is not even KOMTAR which was let to rot since 90s. It was in lipidated condition before 308.

Now I can even see people surrounding this biz man when he pour kerozine (I suppose) on him.

He needs attention, he should have solved his problem through KOMTAR's association chairman (pls note that the Chairman was suprise to hear this incident as reported in the newspaper).

So J4, do not spin again and make LGE a scape goat.

  10. J4,

do you know how many Malaysian die in the road accident each year!!! More than 6 thousand. Why did you not sing like a cannery about the transport minister or state gov....... of course start with the previous gov........ who screwed up the road system, and planning.....including township planning. Eh??!! All happen to do with MCA ministerial posts!! what a coincidence.

Remember what Toon Mamak condemned OTIS, a foreign company who tell the truth why they picked Penang as theis manufacturing base instead on otehr states in Malaysia??? OTIS was condemned by TOON MAMAK.......
