MCA beginning to get to the battle ground .Surprise on bus ride

He chatted with passengers during the ride on Thursday and handed out free monthly passes on behalf of Rapid Penang to some 40 commuters.
Also onboard the bus were Rapid Pe- nang chief executive officer Azhar Ahmad, Puspakom director Datuk Khalid Abdol Rahman, DRB-Hicom Group operations director Datuk Seri Mohd Khamil Jamil and state Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow.
Ong had wanted to get a feel of the bus service and told reporters earlier that he had been conducting random checks on the ground.
Ong handing a complimentary travel pass to a commuter during his ride on Rapid Penang bus. “I have been boarding buses and talking to commuters. I would say that the public response and feedback have been very encouraging.
“This is one way we can successfully and effectively monitor the progress and performances of our bus operators,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Rapid Penang and Puspakom Sdn Bhd at Rapid Penang’s headquarters on Lorong Kulit.
Ong said proper basic amenities such as bus stops was crucial to change society’s perception of public transport.
“I have seen several bus stops without roofs in the Klang Valley, Penang and other cities. At some places, only the poles were left visible.
“There is a need to work with the respective state governments and the local councils to ensure this area is looked into seriously,” he added.
Ong said the Federal Government, especially his ministry, was duty bound to provide services to the best of their abilities.
“This applies to Penang as well as any part of the country irrespective of the political scenario. We mean business,” he said.
“In Selangor, for instance, I talk to Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Chow’s counterpart, Selangor state executive councillor Teresa Kok.
“For the benefit of the people, we have been doing that.
“We see no reason why we cannot col- laborate and put our heads together to sort out public concerns rather then going for polemics at all times,” he said.
Good for MCA. Go on the offensive and take over from Gerakan. Who care about them anyway.

ReplyDeleteGerakan is a gone case . Everyone in Penang has written them off . I think their demise is written all over Penang , and MCA with the correct strategy , good candidates and with ONG working tirelessly I don't see why MCA shouldn't take over from Gerakan . Like they said Fung Soi lun yew chuan , its about fifty years since Gerakan took over from MCA and its about time MCA takes it back .

ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt Gerakan is a dying beast. But a dying animal can still do damage. But with the right move, MCA can take over as leader of BN in Penang. Rather than letting some undesirables taking over, MCA should do it.
Beside, pushing Gerakan into the sea will also remove a competititor inside the tent. MCA will do itself a big favour by ridding its long term nemesis in BN. Not to mention sweet revenge after 5o years.
You say people are generally happy with DAP and PR. Maybe. It does not mean MCA cannot try. It does not mean MCA cannot win.
But it all boils down to the first move.
