The burning of the Reichstag

The Reichstag fire was an arson attack on the Reichstag building in Berlin on 27 February 1933. This event is seen as pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany. Are we seeing the same thing happening in Malaysia, 77 years later?

The Reichstag fire (German: Der Reichstagsbrand) was an arson attack on the Reichstag building in Berlin on 27 February 1933. The event is seen as pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.

At 21:25hrs (UTC +1), a Berlin fire station received an alarm call that the Reichstag building, the assembly location of the German Parliament, was ablaze. The fire started in the Session Chamber,[1] and by the time the police and firefighters had arrived, the main Chamber of Deputies was engulfed by flames.

Inside the building, a thorough search conducted by the police resulted in the finding of a naked Marinus van der Lubbe. Van der Lubbe was a Dutch insurrectionist, council communist and unemployed bricklayer who had recently arrived in Germany, ostensibly to carry out his political activities. The fire was used as evidence by the Nazis that the Communists were beginning a plot against the German government. Van der Lubbe and four Communist leaders were subsequently arrested. Adolf Hitler, who had been sworn in as Chancellor of Germany four weeks before, on 30 January, urged President Paul von Hindenburg to pass an emergency decree to counter the "ruthless confrontation of the Communist Party of Germany".[citation needed] With civil liberties suspended, the government instituted mass arrests of Communists, including all of the Communist parliamentary delegates. With them gone, and their seats empty, the Nazis went from being a plurality party to the majority; subsequent elections confirmed this position and thus allowed Hitler to consolidate his power.

Historians disagree as to whether van der Lubbe acted alone or if the Nazis were involved.

My comment . Were the Nazis involved ? If they did , by burning their own parliament , and blaming the fire was started by the Communists , they were able to institute mass arrest of the Communists , and the Nazis went from being a plurality party to the majority and enabling Hitler to consolidate his power . That was how Hitler came into power and the rest is history .
Isn't this what Raja Petra is trying to say , that the burning of churches were done by the BN govt or more precisely UMNO ?
But what is there for UMNO to the BN govt under Najib to gain ? There's no gain here since the govt is currently under BN however there could be another way of looking at it . Protests doesn't cumulate to arson . Ong's position is very clear , leave it to the police to investigate who the perpetuators are . We do not know who did it right now , it could be anybody . We should not jump into the bandwagon and start accusing people and playing to the gallery whom we think is responsible .
Just like the Mr Royal Commission bad habit of jumping the gun without checking for facts . In his latest shooting out from his mouth he kept posting that the stolen F5E engines were worth 50 million a piece and spun that four engines were stolen , and high ranking officers were involved . And again asking that a RCI be set up . I think he has gone nuts and before it was disclosed that the engines were only worth 303K when bought , I had already written that the engines were never worth that much since the obsolete planes were more than 30 yrs old and going for the scrapyard and that Taiwan wanted to sell to the Phillipines for a mere US$1million a piece and this is for the whole plane with two engines while S Korea wanted to give to them for US$100 a plane .
Back to the Reichstag type church burning issue , I had posted who could be the possible perpetuators ? For one supporters of the Pakatan Rasuah could have done it or Muslim extremists within the Pakatan Rasuah whom the leaders have totally no control could have done it . Yes the cults within PKR who would do anything for their masters . It could also have been done by them with their knowledge but turning a blind eye while they play their pacifying role with their communities . They have all to gain and benefit by putting the blame on the Najib's gopvernment and nothing to lose . As can be seen from people's comment in the pro opposition blogs and portals . They do it but blame the govt , same as what the Nazis did , burnt the Reichstag but put the blame on the communists . Institute mass opinion against the govt to bring down the govt . Hopefully they can seize power with this hood winking of the gullible Malaysians .
