Attacks on places of worship a cowardly act

By Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat

I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn about acts of terror and intimidation when explosives were thrown at 2 churches in the Klang Valley. Whilst there is relief from initial reports that no lives were lost nor were there injuries, I have directed MCA leaders to go to the sites where the events took place to render any possible assistance to the churches and worshippers.

I condemn such cowardly show of brute force and intimidation, and there is neither excuse nor justification for them.

All religions teaches peace and tolerance of others. Rather, it is the cowardly actions of an irresponsible group of individuals who are out to sow the seeds of hatred.

I understand that the atmosphere may be tense and therefore appeal for calm among all concerned Malaysians.

On the issue of the usage of the word “Allah”, it is best for the proper due process and the Rule of Law to take its place. We should also approach this sensitive matter through discussion and consultation under the light of reason and civility.

Destructive actions and words fuelled by the fires of hate and prejudice have no place in this country for they are inconsistent with the spirit of One Malaysia, and runs counter to the spirit of democracy and freedom preserved by our Federal Constitution.

We cannot allow anyone to create an impression that Malaysia condones or promotes fanaticism as it would affect foreign investment and tourism. The police should also act swiftly and effectively to catch those responsible for the attacks, and bring them to the face of justice.

The MCA has also rented Dewan San Choon in Wisma MCA to enable the Metro Tabernacle A/G Church to conduct their prayer service there this Sunday. They are grateful for the offer and MCA would assist the church in any way it could.

I have already spoken on this issue , I hope you would use your wisdom in choosing your language . I have also mentioned that Ti and Gan are not responsible for the fiasco . The culprit is one CC who is a member of the AOG church who are fanatics . Ti and Gan are not Christians . Our own backyard is not on fire and this is not cheap publicity by the president ..

  4. sdr justice4otk,

tks for ur advise on the wisdom n very appreciated but as for language, i speak from my heart and thats how the feeling of all of us who attend the dinner.. i can anytime collect more than 50 mca member names that till today feel disgusted abt the dinner..
if i am not wrong, both Ti and Gan are the organiser of the event.. many members present there can confirm this... as an organiser, you must be responsible for all the events and programes.. you just cant push the blame to only one person. all 3 must be accounted for.. at least admit and apologise.. what action have our president take?? dont tell me he didnt hear it at all.. afterall its a MCA function, good or bad we have to accept it gracefully and just dont repeat the mistake.. my 2cent of wisdom.

  6. I condemn the menacing acts of terrorizing place of worship, in the same breath the conduct of the Christians using of the words " Allah " is questionable. To me they are provoking the Muslim knowing pretty well the Muslim sensitivity on their religion. The Christians are very good at that and do not respect other people faith.

My wife is a Buddhist went to a camp organized by her company. Since her company is a Christian base company, they invite a pastor to give a talk, she just ignore the sermons and carry on her work until lastly the pastor said that " the Buddhists are evil people ". She then put down her pen with a bang and stare hard at the pastor, her director knowing my wife was upset with such irresponsible comments quickly apologist to her.

This is only one incident, I am sure many people face the same nuisance from the Christians.

I myself is pissed off with their " sermons " in the function. I will do the necessary to inform OTK about this. Ti and Gan being the organisers were also caught unaware by these fanatics who have also taken to post blasphemous comments on Buddha here . These fanatics are from the First Assembly Of God whom I have confirmed and that Tan is also from the AOG .

I'll see to that its not repeated otherwise this blog will do what it has to do . I might be tempted to post some articles on this later on .

thats what i am trying to say that many of us are pissed off BUT no action taken by the organisers and moreover our president is there too!!!. At least just inform them and check on the next programe.
Did u notice many of us left halfway and its a show of protest. If we didnt respect our president, we would have making a havoc there like "308" incident.. this will cause embrassement to our president. What we want is some fairness in handling the matter by the president so that we dont feel that OTK is biased cos its known openly TI and Gan are the president man!!!! Honestly if this function is organised by LTL faction, than different approach will be taken by OTK.

  15. Because of statemments made by the PM and home minister and by UMNO people, the common perception is that the responsibility lies at the feet of UMNO. Even if MCA condemned this, it is really not relevant. The circle of guilt now surrounds BN. This will have a big impact in the next GE.

    -------------------

The big impact is what you think but I think they the Christians deserved what they did . Did you seriously think the Christians voted for BN the last election ? When they were asking the Christians to vote and kick out BN the last election ? They the Christians did NOT vote for BN the last election when they were embracing the PKR chaps in their churches .
Because of this their publication of the Allah became fodder for UMNO to prohibit them from publishing . Serves them right .

After all they are not angels , more like Talibans with their false preaching . Let them go and embrace the Opposition for all I care after all it's a forgone conclusion they are not with BN .

They are PUNISHED by their own GOD .

My view is this , since we are Buddhist , let's forgive them . Those who sow hatred will reap hatred . Those who sow bad thoughts and hatred towards other religions shall reap the effects of it .

So lets be tolerant to these fanatics .
