Liow insists on EGM to fulfil members’ rights

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 5 — MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai today insisted on fresh party polls to respect the members’ rights to decide the party’s future and leadership, days after he lost his brief deputy presidency in a “greater unity plan” to unite warring factions.
Liow said the rights of members to choose their leaders are enshrined in the party's constitution.
"The requisitionists have the right to call for an EGM as it is in the party constitution," Liow said, referring to the number of delegates including the 16 members from the party's powerful central committee who had requested for fresh polls two days ago.
The request for the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) was shot down by MCA secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng after 27 central committee members backed the "greater unity plan" between president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and reinstated deputy president Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek, both of whom are also against the EGM proposal.
Liow, the Health Minister, said the comment made by Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday that MCA must solve its crisis through a "legal and political solution" has encouraged him to explore legal avenues to push for his agenda.
"I thank the prime minister for his statement yesterday who said that there must a legal and political solution and my lawyers are currently looking into this," he said.
Sacked central committee member Datuk Chor Chee Heung has backed Liow's decision to take the dispute to court.
Chor was among the four central committee members sacked by Ong in what appears to be a pre-emptive move to quell any possibility of an EGM being held.
His plan to stay in power has been fortified by the fact that Dr Chua's son and men have been made new central committee members, replacing the sacked four.

We are blessed to be able to present different views in this blog. To disagree and to agree has made us enlightened and widened our perspectives thus opening us to various options to solve the predicament faced by MCA. It is most heartening to see OTK and CSL putting aside their differences after the ill-fated 10.10.10 EGM to forge a formidable team subscribing to the GUP to salvage the battered MCA. As promised and seen, GUP has been inclusive thus there is no logical reason for LTL, WKS and CMF to reject it. Sub Article 9.3 reads:- “he agrees and undertakes to observe all the rules, regulations, bye-laws and conditions applicable from time to time to such membership, to abide by this Constitution and to adhere to the programmes, principles and policies of the Party.” GUP clearly falls into this Sub Article 9.4 which means failure to adhere to it shall invite disciplinary action. And also refer to Article 124 (Part XV – Party Discipline)
ReplyDeleteIt is a futile effort to go against the current and they should realize that their indiscipline conduct to drag the party to the court has a very negative implication on them. Please refer to the Party Constitution Articles 174 and 175.
It is a disgrace for top party leaders to breach the Party Constitution as if they have not read the Constitution or could not understand it or have not even seen one!!!
LTL, WKS and CMF must reciprocate the olive branch extended by the very magnanimous President and Deputy President to unite to walk together the thorny and uneven journey serving the people. I presume that OTK and CSL should officially have a meeting with LTL, WKS and CMF to clarify or state their offical stand on the solutions to end the party's impasse so that the party can function effectively. No one is perfect. To alter our attitude and mindset at different time or place for the betterment of the majority is actually very honourable. If the call by various country’s statesmen from within and outside MCA to LTL, WKS and CMF still fall on their deaf ears, MAY GOD SAVE THEM.

Some one must send him to the PM's office. The GUP will not work without him backing down and work along with the President and Deputy President.

You are the minister of health but you are spending more time trying to protect your position in MCA then doing your job as a Minister of health. 100s have died in the first round when you were caught with your pants down. Please remember that you are paid to do your job as a minister of health you are not paid to serve your own interest spending all the time to protect your position in MCA. I suggest you resign your minister's post if you cannot spent full time inyour job. We do not need a part time minister of health understand dim LTL.

Brutus Gang / Brutus LTL / FGZ as long as they get 1/3 CCM signatures can open up their own EGM and Resolutions which is unconstitional to the MCA Party.( Once they passed their resolution also useless, but at that time don't accuse OTK is dictator , cannot swallow this BIG DEAD CAT ) They want to spend RM700,000 for that unnecessary meeting , nobody cannot stop them ( They should thank GOD for them not born in Africa). But one thing is Brutus Liow must not forget his duty ( his salary pay by taxpayer ) the 2nd Round of H1N1, such gathering may spread the virus ( MCA HQ can not rent the hall for Brutus Meeting ). ReplyDeleteYes it is true that the MCA Disciplinary Committee is going to resign or have resigned , it fact they have to , but that's no big deal as they are all appointed by the president . They can still be re appointed back by the president with or without some changes .
Morally speaking they have to resign as their recommendation was deem flawed by the turn of events .

Do not chopped them. We need everyone. Each have their weaknesses and strong points. Utilize their strong points as fighters who would not give up under any circumstances.
If ever they wake up, rehabilitate them. Instil in them the LOVE for the party. And DRILL into their heads the Constitution of the party so that they would not act or talk like clowns.
Seriously, MCA needs to reconcile to face challenges ahead.

ReplyDeleteBut, if the problems are not fixed, MCA will never be able to regain its past glory, and more and more Chinese will desert MCA.
This is a difficult dilemma that OTK is facing, and I, for one, is not envious of OTK, as the president of MCA.
OTK needs help.
There will be a lot of opposition, from within and from outside of MCA, trying their best to thaw OTK's effort, every step of the way.
They might even try to frame OTK with all sorts of heinous trump up charges.
I am calling all conscientious Chinese, in these tumultuous coming days, to give support to OTK, whenever, where-ever, and in whatever way he needs it.
There will be a lot of rumors and allegations, insinuations and conspiracy theories, emerging from all corners, with OTK as their sole target.
OTK is a fighter, no doubt about it, but he is still a human being after all.
We need to remind ourselves this, when poisonous insituations are being thrown at OTK --- what type of MCA do we want?
Do we want an MCA that is like before, the one that is corrupted, selfish, back-stabbing, morally bankrupt, or do we want an MCA that we Chinese can be proud of?
If you want the MCA just like the one that has been wallowing in deep mud for the past 50 years, then, by all means, go topple OTK, step on him, back stab him, spit on him.
But if the MCA you want is the one we Chinese can be proud of; An MCA that fights for not only the rights of the Chinese, but all the rights of all the citizens in this country, then, give OTK the help he needs to fight all those sinful beasts that don't believe in justice, truth, and liberty.
OTK has fought the fight half way, all he needs is we to help him carry on the fight.
Those insidious beings are very powerful, they are also extremely wealthy.
They will do everything in their power to crush OTK, for they fear OTK will expose their sins.
If you still have love for MCA, if you still have love for this country, make it your duty to ensure that truth, justice and liberty will never be taken away by those sinister creeps.
And also, make sure that OTK continue to fight the right fights, and when he errs (OTK is a human being, remember), please remind him that we Chinese will no longer tolerate an MCA which has done nothing to protect our interest.

party loyalists who love the party have been waiting impatiently for a revival of MCA as a whole. i dont think they wish this case to prolong UNLESS they have secured some 'lucrative' offer.
MCA can definitely go through this battle.

Does LTL know the implication of going to the court pertaining to the status of Datuk Seri CSL's as Deputy President? Articles or Rules 174 and 175 are very clear on this matter. I hope MCA will not set any precedence and allow anyone to go against the constitution. Be firm and act without fear or favour. Let the the Disciplinary Board and the CC handle the case so that the President does not have to bear the brunt alone as the result of any action to be taken. It is the only option open if he shows his defiance at the time when the party is in such a precarious situation licking from the wounds inflicted from within and outside the party.

Nobody except the 12CCMs is interest in any EGM right now - by the way 12 does not make up the required one third requisitionists to qualify them for calling an EGM. Why can't LTL just accept the GUP which has not sidelined anyone and contribute positively serving the people.
The Brutus gang will not accept the GUP , is clear already. This time match with FGZ , Li Yin Wai Ho , making MCA & BN Fu Pei Shou Di , 1 malaysian many do not understand such plot, so cannot take action for them now. At the moment TRANSPARENT & FAIR is important. T - to let Brutus & FGZ expose all of their identity , F - let them have a place to talk , the widsom of people can not be underminded.

He try his best honestly, sincerely with good intention to stop the ship from sinking, there are still some people wrecking his efforts here and there, with so many destructive elements around MCA who need enemy. PETALING JAYA: Chinese community leader Tan Sri Robert Phang has challenged MCA leaders Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun to participate in an open forum to discuss the party crisis.
ReplyDeletePhang said he would arrange the time, date and venue for Dr Wee and Chew to meet with the Chinese community and group leaders.
Dr Wee is the party Youth chief, while Chew is the Wanita MCA chairman.
“The duties of MCA leaders are to ensure and protect the interest of the Chinese community.
“It is normal for the two to be questioned or criticised by the community leaders,” said the Social Care Foundation chairman.
He added that the two must accept his challenge to interact with Chinese community leaders.
On Chew’s comment that he (Phang) should not criticise because he did not understand the current party crisis, Phang said:
“I am part of the Chinese community and I have the absolute right to criticise and make suggestions.”

LTL, WKS and CMF please channel your destructive energy to constructive energy. I am sure as MCA members you still share the sentiment all of us have - to built a strong MCA, regain its dignity and people's trust so that it can serve the country and Malaysians effectively. We have self-respect and with all these sandiwara our esteem as MCA members have been diminished. Look around you and think deeply whether those around you have been sincere in provoking you to institute whatever actions against the party. Wake up and put some senses in you if you still love the party. A good leader will have the capability to anticipate or predict at lease two steps ahead of the consequences if any actions are to be taken. Will the outcome have any backlash to the party?!!!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, the president has been very patient and magnanimous with all of you. He could have taken actions against you for slandering him in his capacity as the president of the party. But he has not. Restrain. For the sake of the party, reciprocate if the president and his deputy extend his olive branch again. I am sure they have the wisdom to. Discuss as civilized leaders with the objective of healing the wounds. Strictly between the principal office bearers only without bringing in other CCMs. Again, I would like to stress that whatever the leaders do will have to be in accordance to the constitution of the party at this trying time.
