PENANG - Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was again taken to task for playing a fact-twisting and blame-shifting game on the conversion of a 1.4ha plot adjacent to the Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Hotel in Lebuh Farquhar, here from leasehold to freehold.
Penang Gerakan chairman Dr Teng Hock Nan said the undisputed fact was that Lim and his exco had approved the land conversion on June 3, 2009.
"Yet at the state legislative assembly sitting in August, Lim had openly said there were no such conversion between April 2008 and June this year. Thus, he has misled the House and the people," he said in a statement Monday.
'Cover up his lie'
He said documents on minutes of the State Exco, State Land Committee and Penang Development Corporation on the subject declassified by the state government on Saturday clearly proved beyond an iota of doubt that Lim and his exco had approved the conversion.
Teng said Lim was now trying to divert the issue and cover up his lie at the assembly by trying to put the blame on former CM Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
"Whatever he claimed, the fact is that the conversion was not approved during Koh's time. Lim's statement was actually an admission that he and his exco had approved the conversion in June and he had misled the state legislative assembly, the media and the people.
"This episode again exposed the true color of Lim Guan Eng's administration, that it is unaccountable and non-transparent but an expert in twisting facts and playing the blame game," added Teng.
Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad had said earlier that Lim had misled the state assembly at the last sitting in August when he said there was no such conversion between April last year and June this year.
Never misled the assembly
Farid was referring to the question he posed to Lim on whether there had been any land conversion for development purposes during that period.
In his written reply, Lim had said the state government was waiting to present the matter to the National Land Council, scheduled to meet at the end of the year and the state government had yet to approve any application for land conversion.
Earlier today, Lim said he had never misled the state assembly when he said there had been no conversion of land status in the state during that period.
He stressed that the land did not belong to the state government and there had been no conversion of any state land status during the period.

What the MCA need to do is to strengthen itself and replace the Gerakan as the leading BN Party in Penang.

Scumbag #1 sold the land, and then change that land from 99 year lease to freehold, and he refuses to admit.
Scumbag #2, on the other hand, was the one who initiated the talk (back when he was a somebody) then he lost the election and became nobody.
Then he (scumbag #2) went hibernate.
Until someone told him that scumbag #1 sold the land (and pocket some $$$) and he (scumbag #2) got very jeles.
So he went blasting loh !
He is not wrong in blasting scumbag #1 tho.
It was scumbag #1 who sold the land and changed the land title to freehold, but scumbag #1, being a scumbag, refuses to admit anything.

Do you know that most of the folks in charge of MCA Penang are scumbags as well?
I say most, since there are some who are not scumbags.
Unfortunately, most of those who are calling the shot (in MCA Penang) are scumbags.
If MCA wants to come back to rule Penang, you guys need to replace those scumbags with people who are people-oriented.
There are A LOT of GOOD PEOPLE inside MCA Penang, but unfortunately they have been sidelined.
I hope, if OTK wins, he will come to Penang and re-organize MCA Penang and transform it into a vibrant and robust organization.
Only by doing so will MCA win back the hearts and minds of the Penang people.
And then take charge !

Liow's faction calls off EGM?
The faction aligned to vice-president Liow Tiong Lai is expected to call off their plans to hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) this Saturday.
It is believed that central committee member Wong Nai Chee will announce the decision at a press conference at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon (26 Nov)

2,1. Whether the Requisition is valid in law.
Nobody has argued that the Requisition is not valid.. They have legally requisitioned for the 2nd EGM. Refer Article 30.2 ( Notwithstanding that the requisitionists have since dwindled to 10. Since their numbers of requisitionists is not 1/3 (as required ), they should have MORALLY called off the 2nd EGM.
2.2. Whether the resolutions proposed for the EGM convened by the representatives of the requisitionists consequent on the Secretary General not convening General Assembly are unconstitutional?
Bearing in mind that the Constitution provides that:-
1) that the ultimate authority is vested in the General Assembly (article 27) and;
2) the power of General Assembly includes all the power of, inter alia, the Central Committee, including and not limited to directing, managing and controlling the affairs of the Party (Article 37); and
3) an express provision that the General Assembly has the power to dismiss any Party Officials (Article 35)
very clearly that the resolutions calling for fresh election are valid and well within the authority of the General assembly.
The views given is not at all convincing and not relevant. They are barking at the wrong trees, be more specific and the jurisdictions should be more substantive. Their arguments have deviated from the real issues and have conveniently left out Article 41 and Article 166.
The 2nd EGM is still conclusively UNCONSTITUTIONAL as it has gone against the spirit of the Party Constitution. Refer to Article 174.
