Kalama Sutta

Buddha went on to instruct that it is wise to make a proper examination before committing. He said this was to be applied to his own teachings as well. The benefit is: not being too bound by unverifiable propositions, hopefully.

In Pali, Buddha's reply is recorded thus:

Ma anussavena.
Do not believe something just because it has been passed along and retold for many generations. [Simpler: Do not simply believe by what you are told.]

Ma paramparaya.
Do not believe something merely because it has become a traditional practice. [Do not follow tradition blindly merely just because it has been handed down from past generations.]

Ma itikiraya.
Do not believe something simply because it is well-known everywhere. [Do not be quick to listen to rumours blindly or common opinion .]

Ma Pitakasampadanena.
Do not believe something just because it is cited in a text. [Do not be led by what the scriptures say]

Ma takkahetu.
Do not believe something solely on the grounds of logical reasoning. [Do not foolishly make assumptions or be led by mere logic.]

Ma nayahetu.
Do not believe something merely because it accords with your philosophy. [Do not abruptly draw conclusions by what you see and hear .]

Ma akaraparivitakkena.
Do not believe something because it appeals to "common sense". [Do not be fooled by outward appearances.]

Ma ditthinijjhanakkhantiya.
Do not believe something just because you like the idea. [Do not hold on tightly to any view or idea just because you are comfortable with it .]

Ma bhabbarupataya.
Do not believe something because the speaker seems trustworthy. [Do not believe any view just because some seeming believable one says.]

Ma samano no garu ti.
Do not believe something thinking, "This is what our teacher says". [Do not be led by what your teacher tells you is so.]

You can read it here and here

To Those which wrote and publish ten reasons why Ong Tee Keat is the worst President in MCA , my response and reply to them is the ten sermons above by Buddha .

May you reap what you sow , Law of Cause and Effect

May they come fast your Karma

And to those with bad intentions , may your karma ripen immediately .

From now till Dec 21 st , 2012 things will happen very fast , politicians , people with BAD karma will be CLEANSE and so will the WORLD to await the arrival of the new Buddha the Maitreya Buddha .

As a Buddhist I really do not understand LTL's behaviour thus far. The Four Noble Truths, the very basic of Buddhism should be able to deter him from his queer attitude.

  4. Dear J4OTK,

Please relay this to OTK next time you in contact with him:

Clean up the staff of STAR.

They are too damn rotten !!!

  5. LTL is not a buddhist. He is just a self prolaimed vegetarian, the bogus meat eating kind.

A Buddhist is a vegetarian. A vegetarian may not be a Buddhist. There is no point talking to him about religion. He has already sold his soul to the devil, for the price of 1 Toyota Alphad.

  6. Dear Kalambong

I agree with you very well the Star needs to be cleaned up , starting with the Double Datuk who does nothing except write rubbish in his blog , new Malaysia . He is only good at carrying ba**s of VVVIP , wants to be seen and photograph with Clinton, O bama , Man Man Ki Moon , etc while earning a big fat salary of close to I million a year .
And of course the now demoted non ex director who can only be removed in the coming company AGM . The rest , don't want to mention names are those appointed remnants of the by gone era of the LLS . Give us some some , we need to do spring cleaning .

There will be many changes in the coming years till 2012 dec 21st .
Between now and that time is the time of the awakening .During these four years period ,people round the world would begin to see the truth , who are devils and who are human , in other words we will know who speaks the truth are good man and who speaks the untruth and cannot be believed .
This is caused by what we termed the ending period of the earth and the beginning of a new period . In religious terms its the coming of the new Buddha Matrieya , coming of the new messiah , the second coming of christ , or worst people tend to associate this period as the end of the world .
But its not the end of the world or civilisation , its the awakening of the human species in unity with the cosmic forces of the universe .
That is why today , after 50 years we have woken up . In the US is also the same , suddenly you have a African American becoming US President . You would never imagine this happening at all until now . Many Governments are equally having the same problem , Japan had a change of govt , Thailand having the blue and yellow shirts problem . Etc etc
There will be a purging of all the humans who have accumulated bad karma .
This is done thru natural disasters which will be more intense as we approach 2012 .

  11. Yes, its time to let professionals handle the star. Datuk Hii should be able to do it. All the deadwood should be cleared. It may takes times to do it "constitutionally".

  12. OPEN LETTER TO THE EDITORS OF SIN CHEW, NAN YANG AND CHINA PRESS,

    Dear Editors,

Ong Tee Keat shouldn't and refused to resign as MCA President because of reasons known too obvious by many Malaysians, unless you choose to ignore them, which seemed to be the case in many of your biased news reporting and articles. Many right minded Malaysians are really appalled by such a demeaning acts of your style of character-assassination reporting that do not based on facts but slanderous comments and attacks. The most glaring evidence is the article appeared in Sine Chew which among others states that Ong Tee Keat is the worse MCA President of all times, wow, can you believe this ?? This actually came from the best selling Chinese daily in the country, which wrote such a crude and uncivilised comment??

We and many Malaysians are extremely glad and happy that OTK doesn't resign as this would pave ways for the back-stabbers to be rejoicing for taking over the helms and thus create havoc for the Chinese and the Nation. It has nothing to do with the principles of Ong Tee Keat, who has been and will always been looking up by many as a MAN WITH WORDS. However, the prevailing factors mentioned do not warrant him to do so and therefore, both morally and legally in party constitution, Ong Tee Keat is still the legitimately elected MCA President.

It would be very irresponsible and lack of considerations for the well being of the Chinese and the Nation should Ong Tee Keat choose to resign after the EGM on 10 Oct which was hijacked and rigged with foul play and manipulations.

I and many others wish to appeal to you to write with good consciousness and professionalism to state facts and truths rather than launching personal attacks on Ong Tee Keat as if there is a revenge against him by your side which was most unfair, unreasonable and getting personal in your supposedly noble work for the country and people of Malaysia.

  13. Sdra Bangsa Cina Msia,

To you, the Sunday briefing might have achieved nothing....

But for Liow & gang, they knew that they had lost the war--because more than 70% of the divisional leaders/representatives turned up.

If this figure is maintained, Liow's EGM2 on 1128 will have to be ABORTED for lack of 1/3 quorum.

Where is Liow going to put his face?

We know, Wee & CMF got no problem, because they are still supported by their respective wings and cannot be sacked....

Actually Liow and gang are lucky because OTK stil wants the whole MCA and not 2/3.

But they will go down in MCA history as the diry dozens....

They have until 5 Dec to close ranks and repent....LAST CALL! hehehe

  14. AMITOFO.

I am pleased to introduce this website (English/Chinese/Indonesian)for your leisure reading, especially to the beginners. This is "BUDDHISM MADE SIMPLE":

    http://www.justbegood.net

It has all the basic teachings of Lord Buddha:

"Buddhism is occasionally criticized as being overly pessimistic as it seems to focus on suffering rather than on happiness and joy.

However, all conditions of happiness and joy are impermanent because all beings are subject to sickness, old age and death, and as a result, all beings are undeniably subject to dukkha.

Instead, Buddhism is actually realistic as the Buddha has taught us how to overcome or reduce dukkha, and how to achieve the permanent bliss of Nibbana.

By following the Noble Eightfold Path taught by the Buddha, Nibbana can be experienced even in this present lifetime...."

Of the NOBLE 8-FOLD PATH, I think the most relevant to us the writers/commentators/analysts is these two:

    (a) Right Thought:
To cultivate thoughts of generosity, loving-kindness and compassion.

    (b) Right Speech:
To refrain from lying, slander, harsh words and gossip. To cultivate truthful, peaceful, kind and meaningful speech.

Initially it is tough to practice these paths but satisfaction is life is guaranteed once you have achieved the said paths....

I hope the above info is beneficial to all.

    NAMO AMITABHA BUDDHA!
    NAMO AMITABHA BUDDHA!
    NAMO AMITABHA BUDDHA!

    Thank you Boddhi Lai.
You are right that Right Thought and Right Speech should be the practised when writing or commenting to avoid dukkha.
Hope we would be able to discuss Buddhism when this dark episode of the MCA is completed buried.
I am sure the website you introduced will come handy as my Association is involved in providing Buddhist talk to the PLKN trainees.
