Tee Keat calls for EGM

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15, 2009) : Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat is staying put as MCA president despite the party’s central delegates approving a no-confidence motion in his leadership at last Saturday’s extraordinary general meeting.

Ong Tee Keat is greeted by supporters on his arrival at Wisma MCA.
He has instead called for another EGM to decide if there should be fresh elections for the central committee (CC).

The CC, which met for four hours today, also appointed vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai as deputy president.

There was no press conference and Ong posted a statement on his blog (www.ongteekeat.com) to explain the decisions.

Ong, who said before the Oct 10 EGM that he would have to resign if he lost the no-confidence resolution by a simple majority, thanked supporters who had shown deep concern and encouraged him following the EGM. He said he was heartened by calls urging him to stay as party president.

"Over the years, my political career has been guided by my conscience and the people’s aspirations.

"People who know me well know that I uphold my principles in my political practice. It has never been my practice to renege on my words, including what I had pledged earlier with regard to the outcome of the EGM," he said.

He said the disciplinary action to suspend former deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek for tarnishing the party’s image was a collective decision of the party presidential council and CC.

"Hence, the onus and responsibility is not on me alone, but collectively. That being the case, I had proposed to have fresh polls to seek a fresh mandate from the party, especially the outcome of the EGM was inconclusive and indicate that the grassroots were divided.

"The best way out of this situation is to seek the re-affirmation of the MCA leadership.

"However any hopes for fresh polls were dashed because certain quarters are worried that I would renege on my word and decide to stay as the party president. This is absolutely baseless," he said.

Ong said because of this, he had decided to go back to the grassroots and he had directed party secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng to call for an EGM under Article 30.1 of the party constitution to decide whether the party should hold fresh polls.

"The EGM will allow delegates to end the impasse over whether the CC should seek a fresh mandate," he said.

Ong disclosed that he still has a long list of unfinished business involving party and public interests, like the direct election of the MCA presidency and the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) issue.

He said it is his wish to see such issues be addressed without any abrupt disruption.

  2. Let's consider the pros and cons:

    Cons:

    A. Arm no boh song

    B. Arm no dog also boh song

    Pro:

    1. For the sake of MCA, and for the sake of ALL Chinese in Malaysia, once and for all, let all MCA members take a stand.

If they want to become running dog for arm no, so be it. Let WKS and NYY take over. We have no use for this type of MCA anyway.

But if the MCA members want an MCA who can stand up against ANYTHING - even against boorish bullies like kerismuddin - if the MCA members want that, then it's time to clean house.

Throw out all them arm no dogs, so they can go join arm no, if they want.

    2. For too long, MCA has been viewed as an ineffective / useless organization.

When MCA says that it fights for the Chinese people in Malaysia, the Chinese sniker. Why? Because we all know better.

Now, the tide has changed. For once, we have someone who can lead MCA back to glory. OTK is the man.

True, kicking out all the arm no dogs would be painful, as painful as the cutting off a gangrene leg. But if MCA fails to kick out all the arm no dogs, MCA would have no future.

Imagine having NYY as the prez of MCA. Imagine what that good for nothing bark poh would do to MCA and all the Chinese people in Malaysia?

Imagine having WKS as the prez of MCA. Imagine how fast he would have sold out all the rights of the Chinese in Malaysia?

    Can you imagine that?

Another EGM ought to be held to allow all MCA members a say. Whichever direction MCA would take, it's totally up to MCA members now.

  6. no need for another EGM, just finish the term, finish the unfinish jobs(esp. PKFZ),draw back confident from the BOSS(malaysian voter),as we all can see, PM & UMNO is trying their very best,in all aspect, to draw back support from the rakyat.MCA should do their part too,one of them is to disencumber the image of "arm no dog". power struggle within the party should stop now, dont pinpoint on your own comrade, the only trouble maker(CSL AND FEW OF HIS DOGS) is gone now, reunite and go for the BIG SHOW!!!

  9. Dear Timmy,

If OTK goes down, and MCA is taken over by NYY and/or WKS, and become a puppy party for arm no, the Chinese would desert MCA.

But if OTK stays on, and brings MCA back to it's original intent, the Chinese will come back in support of MCA.

The 2nd EGM is necessary, Timmy, since it allows all MCA members to have a final say on which route they want MCA to take -- The way MCA was supposed to be (protecting the rights and interest of the Chinese citizens in Malaysia) or, The way MCA has been for the past 50 years (making fast buck, prioritize on the amount of datukship / tansriship, and the selling out of Chinese' rights)

It has finally come to the time to make the decision, Timmy. MCA has been avoiding this moment for the past 50 years.

For 50 years, MCA has been betraying the Chinese people. For 50 years, MCA has been selling out the Chinese people. And for 50 years, MCA has been a laughing stock (and a grand shame) of the Chinese citizens of Malaysia.

MCA can wait no more. Time is running out, Timmy.

Comparing to arm no, MCA is a sick joke.

Arm no has been fighting for the Malays, and they have been doing a good job. MCA? What has MCA achieved for the past 50 years?

Please pardon my bluntness. I am not an MCA member precisely I could see through the rottenness of MCA, and because of that, I see the glimpse of hope for MCA in the person of OTK.

OTK is a person with integrity. Yes, I say that.

Since I am not an MCA member, I do not need to poh lan pah OTK (and I am not doing that either), I am stating the fact.

Without OTK, MCA continues to sink further and further into the abyss. With OTK, MCA got a chance.

Let them have the 2nd EGM, Timmy. Let the MCA members decide for themselves, what kind of organization they wanna belong to --- One that protects the Chinese or one that sell out.

  10. Dear Timmy,

What Kalambong says is very correct in regards to the EGM .

OTK cannot afford to be played out the second time , since those who signed the petition asking him to step down were from his very close supporters including those who were appointed by him as CC , as Senator , as Dep Minister . The trust is already lost as they have betrayed him . Hence the need to have a second EGM to get approval from the CDs to have the mandate to call for fresh polls . He needs to get his trusted people , those who stood by him in as CC .

  11. if a 2nd EGM 'S call, then, there will be a new election, and OTK will lose, there's less than 40% of righteous CDs(this time the betrayer will vote him down, due to selfish personal interest).i mean, why take the risk, afterall, they cant do much to him now,and he's got 2 years to complete his task.by then the whole image might have change...in the history of boleh land, righteous and capable leader(s),wont stay long in leading post.i mean, what's wrong with our country? we're suppose to be a rich country,we have all the resourses, yet, we're so far behind a country that have nothing(even water need to be bought in).WRONG MANAGEMENT(since 1981) its so scary that one day, this wrong system or mismanagement reaches a point of no return(we're near). by then, there will be no cure even if we have 100 righteous OTK. PLEASE TREASURE THE ONLY ONE WE HAVE NOW!!!

  12. Dear Timmy,

Have faith in the wisdom of the Central Delegates.

As one adage puts it, "Once bitten, twice shy".

The CDs' votes first time was due to many of them got hoodwinked by the lies spreaded by arm no dogs, and I do believe that many CDs (not all, but many) do have enough wisdom instilled in them to able them to see what is right, and what is wrong.

But if, as you said, the CDs vote out OTK, again, then, Timmy, let it be, for they have spoken out loud and clear, that they rather become lap dogs for arm no, then fighting to protect the rights of the Chinese citizens of Malaysia.

By then, we, the Chinese, should know what to do next.
