Sack me if you dare, says Klang DAP's Shen

Shen Yee Aun
PETALING JAYA - Former Klang DAP Socialist Youth secretary Shen Yee Aun as challenged the DAP to sack him for airing his complaints on the problems in the Klang division.

“This is my democratic right. I know of the gag order on DAP leaders but I chose to rebel because DAP believes in freedom of speech, democracy and transparency. I have nothing to lose because I am not contesting for any post in the party,” he said yesterday.

Shen, who resigned as secretary of the Taman Gembira branch, had also been twittering on his allegations against Klang division youth chief Lim Lip Suan and others over the postponement of last Friday’s meeting due to irregularties in the membership list.

He alleged that the reasons given by Lim in postponing the meeting where election for the youth wing was scheduled were “mere flimsy excuses.”

“They (Lim’s team) knew they would lose if the election was held,” he said.

The 23-year-old entrepreneur said Lim’s claims that he was unaware of the high number of branches in the division only showed his ineffectiveness in running the division.

Sources said there were three camps in the division – Lim being aligned with Selangor state executive councillor Ronnie Liu; a group led by Klang division liaison secretary Lee Fu Haw aligned with former Klang municipal councillor Tee Boon Hock (who was sacked from DAP) and an independent group led by Shen.

Tee was sacked for allegedly misusing a Selangor exco member’s letterhead.

Shen said members had requested that national Dapsy chief Anthony Loke and his deputy Janice Lee postpone the meeting as they had not received the notices for the Klang youth meeting but was rejected.

Shen said he was elected as the division youth secretary in 2008 but only realised on Friday that he had been removed and replaced by his childhood friend, Emmanuel Joseph.

“I never received any calls, letter or any indication that I am no longer the secretary. I only found out when I came to the meeting,” he said. On allegations that Shen was not informed of his removal as secretary, Lim said Shen had failed to cooperate with him to call for meetings.

“I did not have any choice. I called for an emergency meeting where all the members agreed to appoint Emmanuel Joseph as acting secretary in place of Shen,” he said.
