Status quo for MCA

KUALA LUMPUR: Former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat is expected to retain the transport minister’s post, thus leaving the party’s representation unchanged in the event of a cabinet reshuffle. As expected and predicted by this blog the day after he resigned and rejected by PM .

Sources said the MCA may leave things as they are to unify the party following a
crisis that ended with the March 28 party elections.

Although Tee Keat lost in his bid to defend his presidency at the party’s polls, insiders believe he will be retained as he is popular with the Chinese.

An MCA insider said the community had warmed up to him for his “outspokenness

and for being a no-nonsense character, especially in handling the Port Klang Free Zone issue”.

Tee Keat had also campaigned for Barisan Nasional in the Hulu Selangor and Sibu by-elections.

Insiders said the inclusion of Tee Keat in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s delegation on his working visit to Singapore from today was an indication of “things to come”.

In the March party elections, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek won the presidency in a three-cornered fight, defeating Tee Keat and Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, also a past
president.

Sources said if and when Najib reshuffled his cabinet, MCA was likely to propose
that Najib retain its four ministers: Tee Keat; Tourism Minister Datuk Seri
Dr Ng Yen Yen; Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai; and Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha.

The status quo choice is made possible by Dr Chua’s insistence that he will not seek a cabinet appointment so he can consolidate MCA’s support among the Chinese. Najib doesn't want rotten tainted luggage so are the voices of the Chinese people . Nobody wants him except the 900 rotten eggs . Just like the wolf who cannot get to eat the buah anggor say the buah anggor is sour and rotten . What can you expect when Chinese people reject him in Hulu Selangor and told to make himself disappear and not to go to Sibu ? He is venting his frustrations by whacking anyone who disparage his holy highess !

“This is in line with Dr Chua’s all-inclusive leadership, as stated in his
(party) election manifesto,” said a source. Bullshit ! All of Liow's people got chopped and this is call all inclusive ? come-on don't how seow here Eilleen !

Kong, who lost in his bid for the party’s deputy presidency and was
subsequently appointed secretary-general, is also expected to keep his cabinet
post.

“He is a close ally of Dr Chua and he will not be dropped,” said another party source.

However, if Tee Keat is dropped, Deputy Finance Minister and MCA vice-president Datuk Chor Chee Heung may be promoted to a ministerial post as he is the most senior among MCA’s seven deputy ministers. Wait another hundred years

"If this is the case, then vice-president Datuk Donald Lim, who has been endorsed by the party for a senatorship, will get a deputy minister's post," said a party insider. Donald Duck Minister of Disney Land .

"He is the most qualified as he was the deputy minister for transport and tourism." Transport to Kingdom come .

There will be a vacancy as former deputy women, family and community development minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun resigned on April 29.

She had vowed to quit if Dr Chua, who was involved in a 2007 DVD sex scandal, was elected MCA president.

Will new vice-president Gan Ping Sieu be made a senator, with Donald Lim nominated as a deputy minister? Sources said they had yet to hear names other than Lim. Still got ? ha ha must be day dreaming ... The post will be given to MIC

New faces are also expected to feature in the administration if Najib reshuffles the cabinet.

Datuk Richard Riot, a five-term Serian MP, had been proposed by the Sarawak United People's Party to take over the deputy transport minister's post. The post fell vacant when SUPP's Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew died on April 9.
