Swim or Sink with the Lone Angel....?

Found this article in Ti Lian Ker's blog ( Thinking Aloud ) and reproducing it as its rather appropriate and a good write up.

The reversal of fortune is in the pipeline for many. As the Chinese saying goes, a crisis is an opportunity...in time of turbulence, heroes were borned !

Many cautioned me and asked me to be alert and choose the right side. Many told me , this is the time for me to seize the opportunity. A friend even sent me an sms subtly asking me to take side...His sms read as follows " As a leader or follower, you either grow or shrink. There's no such thing as in between. If you do not, you are expendable" quote Robert Schuller.

People failed to realize that we are in politics for a cause and for what we believe in. The people's perception of politics is still very much opportunistic in nature. No wonder I am never in the mainstream of politics. I happened to be a side culture.

Coming back to my preamble, I am actually referring to the current 'MCA crisis'. Why crisis? It is just a mere political process. Maybe a cleansing process. It happens and happened many times before in all political parties. But for MCA, the Chinese non-members disavowed themselves with MCA whenever MCA faced some problems or perceived 'crisis'. There is just no love for MCA. Chinese with their 'kiasu' attitude will run MCA down without understanding or trying to dissect the issues involved and make a stand. Thus, MCA conflicts will perpetuate or drag on till the party rots. For every crisis there's always an opportunity .

I would like to be objective and impartial to the present crisis but I can't help taking sides on issues and lending my support for a cause. In this case, I sincerely believes that MCA must support the President in his cause to cleanse the dirt and the dust swept under the carpet in the PKFZ issue. PKFZ is an issue that cannot escape the public eye and we owe history a duty to open-up and call a spade a spade. If there is poor governance, we must acknowledge and rectify the system of governance. If there is abuse, then individuals must be taken to task and face the consequences. Only by doing so, BN and MCA can hold their head high, walk straight and look the people in the eye!

If Ong Tee Keat does not clean up the PKFZ , MCA will be cleaned up in the next GE . This is one issue where you cannot run away with , or sweep under the carpet hoping for it to go away without anyone noticing , only to be bashed and whacked by the opposition come GE13. With Ong doing it now , MCA and its fortune will be redeemed and I forsee MCA to perform better when the time comes .

Many were preaching that we must separate the President's role as a Minister and the party. Thus, they wanted to separate the two. On one hand, we supported the Minister of Transport to continue his agenda of transparency and accountability. On the other hand , it was advocated that we stay away from Ong Tee Keat and watch him being attacked or sieged for discharging his responsibility as a Minister in an MCA portfolio whereby his predecessors had made a mess and had shamed the party, MCA. His role as a Minister and the President of MCA are inter-related and inseparable!

Like it or not, the present 'MCA crisis' is closely related to the President's attempt to exorcised MCA from the ghost of PKFZ. Events took place and a series of developments had put MCA in the situation today. MCA is a political party with it's trials and tribulations. Being a political party, there is bound to be interest (vested or explicit) . Conflicts arise and is inherent to any organisation whereby various parties had their own diverse personal agenda and direction. Ultimately we must subscribe to the party and the people's interest.

In conclusion, the controversies surrounding MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat is very much related to his job as the Minister of Transport and his handling of the PKFZ scandal. As I had said in the Central Committee meeting, why must we give the benefit of truth to Datuk Seri Tiong's allegations that MCA President pocketed RM10 million being purported loan or contributions or whatever? Thus, why must we react or debate over a mere allegation with no evidential backup or feel guilty and ashamed by an allegation mala fide made in bad faith. It will show our immaturity as a political party whereby an allegation will put the party in a crisis or turned Topsy-turfy...

On the other hand why are we denying the benefit of doubt to the President and Minister of Transport who had denied the allegation and taken legal actions and sanctions against the accuser. In fact, we should be more convinced than doubtful since the Minister had taken a courageous, steadfast and honest course of action. He had consistently disclosed details and information of the PKFZ scandals without fear or favor. His actions showed that he is not obliged and his integrity thus intact and therefore am perfect and timely for the party.

MCA is facing it's worse credibility crisis today as a result of two Ministers failure to exercise due diligence and perceived to be on the take . PKFZ is a gigantic scandal that had stigmatized MCA causing MCA to lose all their seats in the state of Selangor with the exception of Ong Tee Keat Pandan Parliamentary seat and two other state seats.

There is a call of duty for the next MCA Transport Minister to correct the series of wrongs committed by the previous two MCA Ministers. Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat took upon himself to right the wrongs to save the party from further assault and insult. PKFZ scandal is a political legacy that MCA can ill afford right now....

We shall follow the one who is righteous and who the one walks his talk ,
to clean up the mess , the shit and the dirt in MCA today . We support Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat .
