Tee Keat gets public backing for him to remain as MCA boss

By Clara Chooi

SUBANG JAYA, March 15 — MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said today that he had the support of the “man on the street” despite clear signs of his waning support by UMNO in the troubled Barisan Nasional (BN) party.

In a press conference after launching his election campaign at the MCA Kelana Jaya office here, Ong admitted to reporters that he did not have the backing of many party leaders or “the tycoons”, but he did have the public’s support.

“When your colleagues and people ask me whose support I have and whose backing I have, I can only think of one answer — the man on the street.

“All those messages I have received; some sent to me and some to my colleagues and they forward it to me... really, we are deeply touched by the overwhelming response from the people,” he said.

Ong refused to say if he was walking into the presidential race as the underdog, pointing out that it did not matter as it is his duty to “walk the talk”.

“If someone is truly committed to his cause, then it is his duty to ensure he walks the talk. So now that I have made my announcement, I made it with full commitment to the transformation that I want for the party.

“And no matter what, I remain undeterred by whatever speculation and whatever intimidation that may come my way,” he said.

In what appears to be an open challenge to his rivals, Ong said that his struggle would not be so easily hampered by one or two dissenting voices.

“In this democratic system, anyone can come up with his or her own stand. But we do not force people to vote for or against anyone. It is still up to the individual.

“I say I am committed to the transformation so do not tell me that I do not dare to defend that commitment. To me, I must fight this to the end and my commitment cannot be so easily destroyed... just by one or two voices of dissent,” he said.

Ong was responding to MCA Youth Chief Brutus Wee Ka Siong’s statement that he would be able to convince at least 200 youth delegates not to vote for the former in the coming party elections on March 28. 200 Youth Delegates ?? Wah the youth people so stupid one meh ! Listen to the fuck tup bastard ! So he is saying if he ask these 200 people to go jump into the tham pui ( used in olden days to pee at night ) they will also do so eh ! What an idiot ! The Taliban has a vacancy for you arsehole , to recruit would be suicide bombers .

Ong would not say if he was worried about Brutus Wee’s boast and merely said that the delegates would be able to determine for themselves who they wanted to lead the party. This fat pig is a real boaster cock ! Will sell his mother also if he is promised the Transport Ministership

Meanwhile, Ong denied that his election campaign was an attempt to not only win over the confidence of the party delegates but also to further cement his support from the “man on the street”.

He had earlier launched a mobile squad unit here, which is a large white van bearing his face, in conjunction with his election campaign.

“This was something that we have already announced that we would do before. This launch is done in conjunction with my campaign but like I said before, this is actually for us to offer up our services across the nation. We will help the people in handing government-related issues and also provide them with basic healthcare services,” he said.

Ong noted that the idea of the mobile squad had already been mooted and approved by the party’s presidential council and central committee in January.

“I will not say it is my strategy (to woo the public) but if we are talking about real transformation, it is not just a process or a gimmick meant for election purposes. Transformation is an ongoing process for all members and we must make the people feel that we are truly committed to such a cause.

“If we talk about change, it is unfair to only start doing it just because we are going to polls,” he said.

  1. Man on the street does not support anyone, except himself.

    That's the truth.

But if OTK wants the support from Men (plural) on the street, actually it isn't that hard.

Spell it out what OTK can do for them. Make it clear and concise.

OTK actually still enjoys the trust from many of the Men (plural) on the street, so OTK, keep this in mind - please do not lie to us.

  7. Whoever asks Tee Kiat to appear on TV3's interview is doing a great dis-service to Tee Kiat !

OTK's target audience is not the Malays who watch TV3 interview, OTK should focus on the Chinese !!

    Oh wow !

Tee Kiat, it is time you start changing your advisors !!

Start focusing on the right target, Tee Kiat.

You do not have much time to waste !!!

That TV3 interview is superb, man!

OTK made some political scores already....

It is wrong to state that TV3 audience are mainly Malays; there are many Chinese & Indians who watch TV3 everyday.

It is strategically correct for OTK to appear on TV3, and he spoke well. Thanks to Datuk Ahmad Talib who did not interrupt OTK's "political speech". I am certain that Datuk Ahmad Talib was impressed, and so did other audience.

In MCA, where else can you find such "confident" Chinese leader? You tell me!

No doubt Dr. Chua Soi Lek is equally good, but he is old [ born in the year of dog= Jan, 1947)and tainted by the "same room, same hotel, same Batu Pahat & same nyonya..." episode. It is a pity.I don't blame him; only his karma is to blame.

Can non-MCA members now see who is the best candidate to lead MCA --among the three: OTK/CSL/LTL?

  9. Look man.

    Stop kidding yourself.

There are more Malays watching TV3 than Chinese !

That's why I say OTK can do better by changing his advisors since you guys are misleading him more and more !

Who says the TV3 interview is superb?

I mean, even the Chinese watching the interview are looking at OTK as a running dog --- a Chinese who do not speak Chinese, a Chinese who speak MALAY !

  10. OTK needs a new image.

Too many of the Chinese politician have that image of "I work for everybody" and OTK does not need that anymore, and you know why?

Too many of the Chinese politicians who speak good Malays end up working FOR the Malays and forgot about the Chinese.

    Case in point: WKS.

That guy's Malay is superb, but he works for UMNO instead for the Chinese.

LGE's Melayu is not bad too, but look how he licks Anwar's butt?

OTK needs a new image, an image that says "I do care about the Chinese and I am going to focus on the Chinese".

So please, no more interviews speaking Melayu.

It ain't do OTK any good for the Chinese audience since we Chinese are very tired of cinamen who bilang melayu and lupa cina.

Go meet the Chinese. Get interviews speaking Chinese. Plus OTK has the best Mandarin of all the politicians in Malaysia !!

Remember, OTK, you need a new image. Stop wasting your time pandering to the Melayu who are not going to help you anyway.

  11. OTK's Malay is also superb. And he DO NOT work for UMNO. WKS is just a traitor of the Chinese. If he is classified a bumi. he will be in UMNO.

  12. OTK didn't ask to be interviewed .

He was asked to be interviewed by TV3 , they set the language .

And anon 7:47 are you trying to pit Chinese against Malay ?

Don't forget this blog is read by the special branch also .

  13. Just because TV3 asked to interview OTK, OTK has to oblige meh?

What if a Chinese magazine wants to interview OTK, would OTK oblige?

As for the "Malay vs Chinese" thing, it's from figment of your imagination.

What I said is very clear --- the Malays, aka UMNO, does not want Tee Kiat to win anyway. They want Ong Ka Ting, not Ong Tee Kiat.

So why should Tee Kiat waste time on TV3 when they, the UMNO Malays, want him to lose?

Might as well focus on the Chinese, Tee Kiat !

    ReplyDelete
  14. And that is one more point that I forgot to add:

Think of this as a strategy --- As most of the non-UMNO politicians, whether they came from BN or PR, are trying to "one size fits all" and to "serve all people", all of them kinda turn into "bland".

Why not Tee Kiat become a "Pro-Chinese Champion", and when he got elected again as the President of MCA, Tee Kiat (and MCA) will have the full support of the Chinese.

With that, UMNO will have no choice but to come begging MCA to help them.

    You know why?

Because by having the full support of the Chinese, the political value of MCA can only go up.

UMNO can not get BN to win any GE without the support of the Chinese, and for that, UMNO will have no choice but to come begging MCA to help them.

Wouldn't that be beneficial to MCA?

Tee Kiat, if you are reading this, think about what I said.
