Nik Aziz : Sex education in schools is like teaching thieves how to steal properly

Hello Tok apa ini ?

KOTA BAHARU (July 2, 2010): Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat disagrees with the move to teach sex education in schools, saying it will do more harm and good to the younger generation.

The PAS spiritual leader said, among others, the move would encourage children to learn about sex among themselves, resulting in negative incidences like throwing away of unwanted babies.

"There is already sex education in Islam like parents should have a separate sleeping place for their children when they reach the age of seven and that women should be properly covered," he said after delivering a religious lecture, here, today.

He said introducing sex education in schools would be like teaching thieves how to steal properly.

Nik Aziz also wanted illicit sex to be termed as "zina" in Islam and not as "seks bebas" (free sex) as deemed by some quarters.

"What's wrong with calling 'seks bebas', 'zina' as the latter word would instil some fear in Muslims? And those who commit 'zina' should be punished under the hudud law," he said.

The issue of sex education has long been discussed and debated with several quarters urging sex education to be implemented in schools to curb social ills like unwanted pregnancies and throwing away of babies, which has become rampant of late.

However, to date there has been no decision on the matter.- Bernama

  1. This is the true Nik Aziz but when he talks like this DAP will not jump up. DAP pretend hear nothing to bluff the chinese that Nik Aziz is a liberal democrat. Look at his opinion, all driven by religious teaching only, nothing more nothing less. But bocs DAP is hard up for power, they dont care. They ride on the back of the tiger and later would not be able to come down from it.

  2. Those Pakatan and DAP supporters should say some thing, sex education is not as simple as what Nik Aziz think. Bcos he is a ulamak, nobody dares to challenge his oipion. If the topic is so simplified, then we probably need not argue over it for the last twenty yeasrs or so.

I am 100% for sex education to teach youngsters on the responsiblities assocaited with sex not just pleasure. But bear in mind with opposition from people like Nik Aziz and many others, the goivernment would not dare to enforce anything. In the end, everything is based on politics, politics dictates that nothing will be changed, not economy, not commerce, not education. It is the opposition that is pursuing the change, but it is all bluffing.

When ever government pushes for change, opp. will resist so that the ruling party cannot change until one day, the people decide to vote out the government. It is how democracy works, it is happening right in front of yr eyes.
