Liow tells Soi Lek to quit

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek should resign to speed up the party's election process, said party vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Liow said Dr Chua's resignation would influence his (Dr Chua's) supporters to do likewise.

"He must not only talk but do what he says so that other people in the central committee (CC) will follow suit," Liow (picture) told reporters after accompanying the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who visited a heart transplant patient, Tan Geek Koon at the National Heart Institute here yesterday.

Liow was commenting on Dr Chua's remarks that more CC members were expected to resign after the Chinese New Year celebration next month to pave the way for fresh party elections.

Under the party's constitution, a fresh poll must be held within 30 days if 21 of the 31 elected central committee members resigned.

However, so far only 13 elected CC members, including Liow, had signed undated resignation letters.

"As Dr Chua had promised to resign, he should do it first. So too party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, who had also made the promise," said Liow. — Bernama

Quoting from Ti's blog with some changes :

Liow had been upgraded from being the President's right hand man to the President in waiting by virtue of an EGM orchestrated and endorsed by him in cohort with others to remove the Deputy President and the President. He has now virtually been reduced from President in waiting to Vice - President to be Removed in waiting .

There are few names who will not be able to participate in the party election if there is a fresh election now.

Firstly, our most senior CC Member Dato Wong Mook Leong was a central delegate by virtue of Article 33.1 of the party constitution. Article 33.1 provided that all incumbent CC Members are automatically the central delegates. Upon his resignation as a CC Member, he does not qualify to be a member of the
General Assembly under Article 33.

Similarly, Wong Nai Chee who is one of our youngest CC Member will no longer be a member of the General Assembly since he is no longer a Member of Parliament under Article 33.3 or a Divisional delegate under Article 33.2. He was a member of the General Assembly by virtue of his appointment as a Central Committ
ee Member by Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting in the previous office bearers.

Another popular long time grassroot leader who may not be able to stand is Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho.

Liow means Liow ...habis ..liow len ...cereya pochi ...

  1. Since the unlucky 13 had resigned, MCA should just chop and endorse them. They is no such thing as conditional resignation.
When one hands in a resignation letter, it's either to accept or reject.
MCA will be at peace without them.

  5. Sdra LMCB,

Your statement is silly if not funnylah....

When LTL & Co are goner, our party President and his deputy must therefore concentrate on internal healings, and party programmes for the community.

Why are you asking the party leadership to seize this opportunity to hold a fresh election--when one is already due next June/Oct (2011)???

Don't tell me that MCA has nothing else to accomplish but party elections/internal squabbles/kungfu fighting!

MCA needs to put its house in order, so that party programmes which are beneficial to the Community & nation could be implemented effectively.

By this route, MCA shall bounce back.

Yes, Aixin straight to the point. MCA should not waste precious time having fresh polls which is destructive rather than beneficial. Focus on uniting, healing and serving the community.

  7. Since Liow and Co are goner, why not call for snap election if you guys got balls . If they are goner , habis , no need for fresh elections as fresh elections will not solve MCA's problems but create more problems . Only DAPigs will keep on harping for fresh elections , NOT MCA members . MCA members are fed up of fresh elections , but DAPigs want fresh erections .
