No fresh polls in MCA, for now

By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 – The protracted leadership crisis in MCA looks set to continue after party deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek (pic) confirmed today that not enough central committee members had resigned to force new elections.

Dr Chua told a press conference at the party’s headquarters here that only 13 central committee members had resigned, eight short of the 21 needed to pave way for fresh polls as stipulated by the party constitution.

“But this does not mean that there will not be any fresh polls,” stressed Dr Chua.

“The CC members have the right to resign at anytime they want. There are those who want to resign but they might do it after Chinese New Year,” he said.

MORE TO COME

After the Chinese New Year ? More like after March 2011

Stay focuss. The dateline set for resigning for the purpose of fresh election has gone so it is the priority of the party to implement the GUP to unite, heal and serve.
The conditional letters submitted by the 13 CCMs should be obselete now as the letters are conditionals till 25th Dec. 2009 only for the purpose of fresh polls. It cannot be forever bogging down the party's in every respect and hamper her effectiveness.
CCMs are allowed to resign unconditionally at any time with reasons and these resignations should not have anything to do with the conditional ones which expire on 25th Dec. 2009. MCA ought to be firm and move with clear directions without fear or favour.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek should resign to speed up the party's election process, said party vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Liow said Dr Chua's resignation would influence his (Dr Chua's) supporters to do likewise.

"NO PRESS STATEMENT PLEASE AS THERE IS A SPECIAL COMMITTEE TO DEAL WITH THE MATTERS AND ITS CHAIRMAN IS DS CSL." Give your views during the meetings. TL should list down the advantages of having a fresh polls now and how he envisage fresh polls could unite the party when he has already set the precedent that only 13 CCMs could rock the party. INDISCIPLINE AND SELF VESTED INTERESTS ARE YOUR PROBLEMS.
