Dr Chua admits MCA council revamp a PR disaster

By Lee Wei Lian

PETALING JAYA, Nov 20 – MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek (picture) acknowledged today that the presidential council revamp on Wednesday which saw nearly half the members aligned to Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai axed by the president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat was a “public relations disaster.”

“It gave rise to the perception that the president is being personal,” said Dr Chua.

However, he blasted Youth and Wanita chiefs Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun for saying that there was no democracy in MCA.

“They were party to the decision to sack me even though I was duly elected as deputy president. And even after I was sacked, I did not cry and say there was no democracy but I just went and reversed the decision via an EGM,” said Dr Chua referring to the emotional outburst by Wee and Chew in a dramatic press conference immediately after the announcement of their removal from the presidential council on Wednesday.

He said that the president has powers to appoint whoever he wishes to the council but it was hoped that the power would be used “wisely.”

By convention, he said, the Youth and Wanita chiefs were appointed as were all ministers and deputy ministers but, at the same time, it was not right to say there was no longer any representation by the wings.

“They will be invited and other leaders from the wings have been appointed,” he noted.

Chua backs fresh MCA polls in March but not EGM II

PETALING JAYA, Nov 20 – MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek says that he supports fresh party elections but not the November 28 extraordinary general meeting (EGM) called by his rival Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai for the same purpose.

“I do not support defective EGM resolutions,” he said pointing out that for fresh elections to happen two thirds of the central committee must resign and that should be made a resolution which is was not.

Dr Chua said that March would be the best date as January and February is the Chinese New Year holiday season but that if the party wanted to do fresh elections using the proposed new model of involving direct elections of the president, it would require constitutional amendments which would see elections happening only six to eight months down the road.

But The Mentally Retarded Youth Chief has this to say :

Wee: Why wait till March for fresh MCA polls?

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal

PETALING JAYA, Nov 20 - Axed presidential council member Datuk Wee Ka Siong (picture) said today that there should not be any reason why fresh party elections should have to wait till March 2010 as “everything is ready for party elections.”

“I am glad to hear that Chua Soi Lek is agreeable to party elections. However I disagree with his proposal to have it in March next year.

“We have the central delegates’ list. Everything is ready. Why wait?” said Wee, who is MCA National Youth Chief.

According to Wee, fresh polls are needed urgently as the party is currently in a state of total chaos and everyone who is not favoured by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat ends up being booted out from the presidential council.

“I do not see the need for delay simply because I am scared of having so many CC (Central Committee) and PC (Presidential Council) meetings in such short notices.

“Every time we have these meetings, there is sure to be someone who ends up getting axed,” exclaimed Wee, referring to what recently happened to him and Wanita MCA chief Datuk Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

No wonder I noticed during the media conference on 18 Nov that CSL wasn't looked "pleased"!

He knew the feelings of people who were replaced as he himself was dismissed (and later suspended)from the party....

CSL sniper also wrote something on the reshuffle of the Presidential Council--disagreeing to the President's drastic action:

Anyway, now we can only look forward for a quicker solution to the party crisis.

  3. Can anybody respond to Roger Tan about the constitutionality of EGM? What about what he said about OTK and CSL concerning Oct 10 egm? First, he thinks these two must respect egm decision albeit lacking 2/3 necessary to boot out the two leaders. think Rtan is bias in a sense. As a lawyer he should be able to distinguisn between moral and legal obligation. What OTK said about resigning, is it moral or legal? Can what he said be considered as waiving his rights to holding on to 2/3 in terms of the constitution. All arguable? and no matter how much he said about it! An example - if I saw someone drowning in the sea, I watched him/her drowned. Am I guilty under the law for not saving him/her? Do I have a moral or legal duty to save life? only moral duty but not legal. PM made the mistake by talking about moral duty to resign
at first then changed his views. Why did ROS
decided CSL case on the 2/3 requirement? Is the decision based on moral or legal? Why would someone say...it is against the top decision. What is the confusion? They are not clear about what is moral and legal- only views/opinions that carry no weight. Why LTL and allies keep on harping on 'respect oct egm' They are also not clear about the laws and morals - the basics. This is only square one question and people don't understand. Once a wrong footing is set whatever views that follow are untenable/incorrect. Surprise humans can be so easily blinded by taking sides. How can moral takes precedence over legal? The law is strict and whoever fails to comply cannot say the other is abusive /dictatorial. Chances have been given - people don't comply and the laws/constitution must be applied to rid of dissentients who are disobedient, disruptive and rebellious. We cannot be bias to strengthen the hands of the rebels and that's what has happened in MCA right now. Kudos to OTK! Unbias

  4. Roger Tan though a lawyer is very naive in the Society Act 1966. Any legal society as the case of MCA being registered under the ROS has to abide by the Party Consitution which was drafted by the party, endorsed by the CDs in the AGM/EGM, duly submitted to the ROS and approved by it as the Constitution of the Party. Thus whatever activities of the party have to be CONSTITUTIONALLY correct. The constitution of the party is SUPREME.

Roger Tan has always been biased with reasons best known to himself. It is very unethical for a lawyer.

MCA must get the priority right.....

MCA has "leaders" like LTL, WKS and CMF who are willing to defy the Party Constitution promoting the illegal 2nd EGM which has been proven to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Their actions have very negative and destructive implications for the party. If "leaders" are allowed to mess up with the Party Constitution then what about the ordinary members in future. Their actions do not speak very well for their quality as "leaders".

Yes, we either cleanse the party of the parasites who have the 4th class political mentality or send them for rehabilitation if the realise their follies and repent.

The party has to take very firm action if anyone after being advised presistently and fraudulently infringe the constitution so as to regain the dignity and credibility of the party. The "leaders" cannot act like thugs discrediting their own president or deputy president in the public through the media.

  7. A friendly reminder for both OTK and CSL:

The FGZs have shamed all Chinese in Malaysia.

Please don't let us down, OTK and CSL.

No matter what happen next --- re-election or not --- please continue to build up MCA and make it strong.

Please do not forget that without the support of the Chinese community, MCA is a big zero.

Make us proud again, OTK and CSL.

  11. Why are LTL, WKS and CMF so ad hoc and do not think of the MCA future? As "leaders" of the Youth and Wanita sections they should not be so short sighted and selfish as their actions have been for their own political ambitions only. They seemed to be could not care less of the party survival.

How to trust this type of politicians?!!

  12. MCA people must get their facts right. Sit down and write down what and why the publics reject you during 0308 election.

Then write down what you can do and offer to the publics. If you can do your analysis well the answer would point to MCA need to CHANGE.

Another MCA election will not buy you votes, but rather make a mockery of you people. It project MCA people as power crazy fighting only for wealth and fame, willing to trade your soul to achieve self interest.

If MCA truthfully and sincerely want to be strong, they must be righteous and champion the community cause. In order to achieve that they must be thoroughly cleansed, have the courage to take the painful path to make the necessary change and reforms. Short term pain for long term gain is the right and only winning formula. Anything less is only postponing the ageless problems.

I would refer a dead MCA rather than a disgrace MCA.

  13. Just a ponder

Today China is a great power becoming a super power . If China during the eighties has let the Tian an men student uprising had their way trying to force the Chinese Government into accepting their demands , do you think China would be what it is today ? in spite of all the negative perceptions about China spun by CNN and all the western media ? calling China all sorts of names ?

Answer is NO , right ! China was right in executing all those rebels and traitors serving the interests of the foreign powers .

    I know OTK "BOLEH".

Now 'assuming' that CSL has no personal agenda, and has faith in OTK, party re-election may be held within 30 days after 2/3 of the CC members resign --and they both shall retain their positions....

If LTL still continues to be recalcitrant, then we let him proceed with the 1128 EGM.

As I said b4, the 1128 EGM will be aborted when it has less than 1/3 quorum - unless OTK-CSL have no confidence that their delegates (over 70%) will heed the "no go" advice!

  18. Sdra UNBIAS/Anon 06:00,

    1. Good argument on the Moral & Legal Obligations.

    2. Politicians always use "moral obligations" as the yearstick.

    3. Lawyers who attempt to use that yardstick, like Roger Tan, are actually making POLITICAL STATEMENTlah.(i.e. when he asked OTK & CSL to "retire" after 1010 EGM.)

    4. But I must admit that his 'legal' argument on the legality of the 1128EGM is 'forceful' though not necessarily correct....

    5. So, as we are all aware, there is NO STRAIGHT/RIGHT answers to every dispute. Grandpa has his reasonings while Grandma also has her grounds. As the dispute cannot be taken to the court for declarations, the chaos in the party persists....

    6. I think the "cease fire" advice by PM is welcomed. Too much fireworks tend to give the rakyat wrong perceptions. They thought that MCA is facing serious crisis and/or dying, when in actual fact, it is the minority faction (led by LTL) who is rocking the MCA boat....

    7. That's the disadvantage of a society when the dispute among its leaders/members cannot be adjudicated by the courts of law.

    8. When "political solutions" cannot be agreed upon by the warring factions, we need help/push/directive from the higher authority (eg. Umno).

    9. As Brader Justice4otk cited the history of China above, we are actually REPEATING history....

Agree with you, MCA must stop the unnecessary power struggle but carry out the necessary overdue reforms. By removing the opponent of reforms I believe he is making a make or break stand.

OTK is the legitimate MCA president and MCA people must respect that. no need for a another election. If the election materialize, I have a feeling OTK is throwing in the towel and will not defense his post.

We shall know what to do then.

  20. There are three main issues that is on the platter ;

    1) the brutuses are insisting to Najib that the two cry babies be reinstate back into the presidential council with full membership , not invited .

    2) that the 1128 EGM is illegal and must be aborted or called off . Cannot have an illegal EGM , else it'll be subjected to legal recourse later on .

    3) fresh elections : from end of year (dec) from the brutuses to after march (csl)
GUP proposal , after six months for party stability . I still buy the six months . We should not allow that fat ass mentally retarded bum to dictate . Who is he to say when ? If its six months , he's finito ...
Even if its after march , he's a goner .

I say anything after March till June is acceptable ...we should go along this line of thought .

    Brader Aixin

Article 30.2 allows 1/3 of the CCMs to requisition for an EGM which was legally done by the lost souls.

The requisition for the 2nd EGM came as a package with the reasons and resolutions. The point of contention is the irregularities of the reasons and resolutions forwarded which had been found to be unconstitutional by the party. Moreover the requisition document sent to the MCA HQ had the name of the President typed differently. ( Dato' Seri Ong / Dato' Sri Ong ) A document cannot have any typing errors at all. The requisitionists refusal to amend or correct the errors and irregularities has rendered the 2nd EGM unconsitutional.

    I may be wrong.

OTK is doing a good job and why must he vacate his post just because some rascal want it, is this right to give the opportunist an opportunity. If OTK were to play save and not put his hand in the PKFZ scandal he would not have been in such predicament. We know what is their aim that is to put the PKFZ scandal into the cold storage. OTK selfless deed must be reward with our strong support and not halfheartedly support as show by some people here especially Goh Wei Liang ...

Barack Obama's job approval rating have dropped to 48 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the American people didn't ask him to quite and call for fresh election.

  27. Sdra Bobo Socrates,

    1. Dr.M cried at least twice in the public ( at the stage) not because he was sacked. (In 1969, he also didn't cry....)

    2. He cried because he felt betrayed/rejected by some Malays/members of Umno, so much so that he couldn't do his job or implement his policies effectively --all in the name of Malay advancement.

3.So when those Malays/Umno members realized and began to "re-support" him, Dr. M was in full swing again...until he gave up in 2002 for "many" Malays were then still behaving the same and carrying the same mentality....The final straw on the camel's back....He apologised many times to the Malays in that speech that year....Though Pak Lah was not a good choice, Dr.M had no choice but to let go his BURDEN to Pak Lah in Oct 2003....

    4. In contrast, those two "kartoonists" cried because they were axed from the Presidential Council ONLY! And that's because of their stubbornness and refuse to "bersyukur" (as Malays put it)...especially the mihun goreng CMF who became deputy mins thru backdoor, thanks to OTK the Hailam Taiko who pity his Hailam sister....But this Hailam sister went to conspired with the Hokkian gang known as Ong Brothers & Ciak Liao-liao/HockChew burung tiong/Kwang Sai coffin CKChoy....Xiao!

    5. If OTK decides to pencen in the party re-election, it is all because of these FGZs.

  32. My humble proposal of letting CSL be the one who catch the crooks inside MCA is because the most effective cop to catch crooks is the one who is a reformed crook.

Only a crook knows how to catch another crook.

If CSL is tasked to rid all the scumbags, leeches and crooks off MCA, he would know how to do it.

CSL know how those crooks think.

CSL also know each and every nook and cranny where the crooks are hiding.

Furthermore, CSL can anticipate the crooks !

Before they start their evil doing, CSL will be there, waiting to catch them.

And lest us forget one thing --- CSL himself is also a victim of those crooks.

It was the crooks who secretly taped CSL and his girlfriend in a hotel room in Johore.

It was also the crooks who burn the video onto DVD and then sent it to other people.

CSL was a crook, now (as far as I can observe) reformed. He hates crooks, because the crooks have ruined his life.

OTK on the other hand, can't fight the crooks.

OTK is not a crook, had never been, and don't know the way crooks think.

But with the help of CSL, OTK can focus his effort in bringing MCA to new heights.

These are just my humble opinion.

1/ Aiyo-yo, Sdra, the way you described CSL is misleading and inaccuratelah....hahahaha

2/ How can we call CSL a "reformed crook"?

3/ CSL is a good politician/leader/husband/father....His only weakness: He succumbed to "sex" (色).

4/ Healthy men actually -MEDICALLY SPEAKING- cannot stop having "Sex" throughout their lives till their last day. We non-Muslims do not have the privilege of 'enjoying' polygamy (like Abdul Hadi Awang of Pas). So many have to "curi makan".

5/ As a medical doctor, CSL knows this fact too well. Had he stopped having sex, he'd be sick and/or down with heart ailment etc. That explained why he stayed in the same room and same hotel a few times a month in Batu Pahat in the past...to "service the heart/plug etc"....hehehehe.

6/ That's all he did. So CSL is definitely not a crook or a reformed crooklah!

7/ He paid the price after failing to be discreet, and fall for the lust or 色 ( can u see a knife hanging on top of this Chinese word?)....

8/ Our friend "Bangsa Cina Malaysia" maintained that CSL is going to challenge OTK in the party election for Presidency....I DOUBT it very much, because though he is not a crook, he has lost every opportunity to our President. No problem for him to maintain his no.2 position -- to look after the party/community affairs; but NOT govt. affairs.

9/ I am confident that CSL knows his standing. [But he should not be sidelined after this. Make him the Chairman of Star Publications Bhd.Take good care of his son - Tee Yong who is qualified and interested in politics....]

10/ We need him to support OTK as our President, until OTK achieves his missions....
