Selangor DAPSY ( pronounced as DAP see leow ) probes ruckus at Klang AGM

September 21, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — Selangor DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) committee announced today a probe is underway into the aborted Klang youth Annual General Meeting and election, which nearly turned violent last Friday.

In an emergency meeting yesterday, DAPSY Selangor’s moved to form a working committee to investigate the incident.

Their initial findings revealed that the meeting became tense as some members had clearly come to the AGM to disrupt the meeting.

This included an attempt to throw a chair by an individual in the crowd.

“The individual who had threatened to throw a chair was not even a DAPSY member and had no right to be in the meeting,” the committee said.

The mentioned individual apparently showed up with other outsiders.

DAPSY however emphasised that news reports of chair throwing were untrue and inaccurate.

However they emphasise that various news reports about chairs being thrown were untrue and inaccurate.

In their media statement they asserted that the postponement was due to membership list disputes and claims of not receiving the meeting notice.

Further, a large turnout compounded the situation, overwhelming the organisers.

The working committee will in addition to investigate the incident will examine the disputed membership list.

DAP members aligned to Ronnie Liu have been accused of trying to force a postponement after they felt they were likely to lose in the election.

Klang DAPSY chief Lim Lip Suan, the incumbent, has rejected the allegation.

MCA behind Sunday demo, says Liu ??

Liu , you sudah jadi gila !

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu has accused MCA of organising last Sunday’s demonstration against him in Pandamaran. He said none of the protestors was a DAP member or a resident of Pandamaran although several had claimed that they were.

Liu, a DAP leader and the assemblyman for Pandamaran, said the demonstration was planned by local MCA leaders and former Klang municipal councillor Tee Boon Hock, who has been sacked from DAP for issuing support letters to his family members and friends to help them secure government contracts.

Liu told FMT today that he had supplied the DAP headquarters with videos and photographs of the demonstration to help it investigate whether any of the protestors was a member of the party. But he said grassroots leaders had told him there was none. Two of the demonstrators were former members of the party, he added.

“MCA just wanted to create some trouble to get some political mileage,” he said, adding that he would not allow anyone to distract him from serving his constituents.

"People in Pandamaran are aware what DAP and the state government are doing for them, especially the poor among them,” he said.
Sunday’s demonstrators numbered about 20. They accused Liu of failing to carry out his duties as assemblyman and executive councillor and demanded that he give up his Pandamaran seat.
