MCA polls on March 28

By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — The MCA will have fresh elections on March 28 following the resignations yesterday of 21 central committee members, but this Sunday’s annual general meeting will proceed as usual . The Prime Minister has also confirmed his attendance .

The remaining members of the party’s central committee decided to go ahead with this weekend’s AGM despite the Youth and Wanita wings’ decision to call off their annual meet earlier.

Today’s central committee meeting was chaired by party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat .

Together with the resignations of vice president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and 12 others, there are a total of 21 resignations, or two-thirds of the central committee, which are now enough under the MCA constitution to trigger new elections which must be held within a month.

Dr Chua had indirectly demanded for the weekend’s AGM to be postponed in light of the bloc resignations while Liow said it was up to the party leadership to decide.

What about the youth and wanita ?

  1. As per clause 41 and 42 of the Constitution, within 3 days, the remaining CC members must elect new members to fill the positions of the cc, left vacant from the resignations of 21 members. This is to enable the CC to run and administer the affairs until the elections on 28th March.

  3. Ha! Ha! I wont be surprised that this is another strategy by both CSL and OTK again.

It will be nice to see both of them at the AGM with the 7 CC members who has just resigned.

Good Bye Liow and his 13 Stooges!

I share your view. The two must have some trump-cards in their pockets.

The lucky 13 will be fried.
