Lead on ! ! We are behind you all the way .

'I am ready to lead our battle'

Friday, 01 January 2010 17:41

KUALA LUMPUR - Battled by a party crisis during the year, MCA president Ong Tee Keat vowed to instill greater democracy by implementing direct elections for the top post in 2010.

"Whilst 2009 may be tumultuous for MCA, now that the storm had receded, it is time to unite, cooperate and transform the party. I will continue with the efforts to empower the grassroots by bringing greater democracy within MCA by implementing direct elections for the president," Ong said in his blog www.ongteekeat.net on New Year's eve.

Ong said that as a major Barisan Nasional component party, MCA must stand up to injustice, and engage any other like-minded forces to seek redress on issues of public concern.

ong-tee-keat-9.jpg"We have to be bold and we have to be loud if and when we have to. We need to transform and energise MCA that will be fearless in championing equal opportunities and a level playing field, not only for the Chinese community, but for all Malaysians," he said.

'I am ready to lead our battle'

"Our struggle for freedom and equality will be easy. I am ready to lead our battle, and I will enforce integrity in our struggle and I will ensure transparency. And above all, I will act."

Ong said the right to be treated as equal Malaysian citizens will be defended by the party at all costs.

"We will continue to unshackle the zero-sum mentality where one community gains at the expense of the other. We simply stand for the simple notion that if a person is treated with equal concern and respect as a Malaysian, he shall be accorded the freedom to choose his leaders, earn a living, provide for his family, educate his kids, practise his religion and his merits as a human person," he said.

He said MCA was a proactive partner in the struggle to gain independence and, premised on this spirit, our party needs to participate in mainstream politics.

"In doing so, we must think out of the box, be courageous and expand our roles. We need to ensure that broader policies are multi-racial and just," he added.

To do the right things

As a major Barisan Nasional component party, Ong said, MCA must stand up to injustice, and engage any other like-minded forces to seek redress on issues of public concern.

"We have to be bold and we have to be loud if and when we have to," he said.

Ong said many programmes and initiatives in education, health, culture and general welfare would be rolled out to the people under renewed thrusts.

"2010 is also the time for all factions within the party to work together for the people and the Chinese community.

"My unwavering focus to do the right things and the commitment to do things right had been our guide on how we can build a better 2010 and beyond," he said.

Ong said the coming year will not be easy for MCA but "the scale of the challenges we face is matched by the strength of my optimism that we Malaysians can and will rise to meet them".

Is this article about Goh Wei Liang true. There was a picture of him in a baju melayu + songkok.

Omar itu adalah nama Arab yang membawa maksud One who has a long life.usia panjang.

To be honest I really don't know , but to me does it really matter ? Its up to the individual to run his own life .

But to be fair to him its best answered by him . Don't you think so ! And also its best I tutup mulut saya since I have NO inkling about this . So whether its true or not I Tak tau , my dear friend .

However my six sense tells me someone is hounding him going everywhere he goes and base on this its highly likely untrue .

  7. Why talk about equal opportunities now and not before. Is it a vote gainning exercise to hoodwink the public and back to status quo. Such music of mesmerising won't work, it is only when one is in trouble that such gimmick is played out of tune.

  8. Suddenly MCA feels that its struggle for frrdom and equality is easy, don't how this is derived. What has MCA done to justify this laudable talk. As far as chinese is concerned for far too long the chinese plight has been left unatended in particular equal opportunities for education, etc and yet the lyrics of MCA is just astounding that all's talk and talk. Didn't they realise this decades ago. Why only now. The matter is not that simple. Has yet to see all these empty promises fulfilling.

This idiot has a defeatist and negative atititude . No wonder the Chinese cannot progress with this type of punks around . If you don't know what is happening go and bury your head in a bucket of shit .

I think to respond to your negativity is also like me responding to a piece of dead wood .

  10. To all those MCA taikoh ,

to walk the talk - before you walk, pls tell us, the chinese whom you claim to represent, the following:

    1. What are expected results at the end of the term. Meaning, when you consider you have reach the goals you set for yourselves..

J4OTK, I believe you are close to OTK, then pls use your relationship to tell him the above mentioned so that we can judge him and his team of their performance.

All of us want change , not only OTK . I believe you will see the change in the coming one year .

We also like to see the end of money politics in MCA besides issues affecting us Malaysians .

  13. Ater a lapse of few months, you have declared openly that you will be going to lead henceforth. This is good for the party and the members who will look forward to see the revitalisation of MCA. The rakyat in general and the members in particular will like to observe how you will go about to resolve the internal problems. Unless, this is done effectively, it will be difficult for the party to move foreward and serve the rakyat in a convincing manner.

  14. Anon: 9:09 PM. It's common knowledge that MCA has failed the chinese for as long as time can remember even before 308 and whatever denials posted by you in repeating the idiocy of your malfunctioned brain to recognise what is clear is quite a laugh. You may punch and punch thinking that the rhetoric of doing the job where PKR and DAP can do better for the chinese is merely a disillusion concocted at a time when the 3 stooges had failed in its attempts to topple its leaders will not materialise. MCA leaders can talk until the heavens fall and any time frame given for its performance will turn dismal and disatrous for the party. There is no escaping this because MCA doesn't dare even to lift up a hand against the NEP and equal distribution of wealth, equal seat allocations in universities for Chinese and other social issues. How dare it now talks about equal opportunities and redresses injustices for all. It has never questioned on BTN and other issues like missing jet engines, etc. Yet when questioned on equal opportunity which they now advocate through their leader but to the chinese regret they thunder on those exposing them as idiots, negatives, unconstructives including the use of non intellectual words like shits, ignorance. All hell is bent when they cannot tolerate the truth spoken by the rakyat. The guillotine is about to fall irrespective of the time fram given to them and the verdict is clear for the last 5 decades or more. Lets see who is right and wrong on this equal opportunity issue. I bet MCA will never dare question about equal rights of the chinese across the board and any aspects of government implementation of BN's economic and social polices. Many are waiting and see how MCA will eat its words.

  15. What change? Where? After one year, it is still talk. Talk is cheap. We need decisive actions. If MCA sack Liow Tiong Lai ir Wee Ka Siong. Now that is action.

I have read so many negative comments by Anons who are confrontational and pessimistic. I sincerely hope that they would react positively to negative situations. Provide some constructive ideas or suggestions or at least give some morale support to leaders who are willing to change to provide the leaderships the Chinese community needs now. If we do not start we are not going anywhere at all.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  17. The blog director must take in all the confrontational stances and pessismistic attacks as a gesture of goodwill to think long and deep about the MCA and what it can do to fill in the deficiency and to correct itself so it can do a job that matches its stature as a party. Many Chinese have suffered one way or another in the past be it its immigrant status and being sidelined by ARM NO in many aspects of the government social policies has felt and couldn't/cannot forgive what the Gov't has done in BN of which MCA was/is now a part. Those years of grievances were deep seated and have haunted them and especially with the crying label of "pendatang" now being applied to Chinese who have supported and built up this nation. If MCA does not change its stance in delivering itself from the demoralising BM of which it is a part it is well overnigh ripe for MCA to kiss goodbye as a political party. The chinese rakyat are watching with eyes like vultures swooping down to survey the operation of its leaders wanting to change with killer strikes by putting in the forefront the equal opportunity principles for all malaysians hopefully not just talk and talk. Chinese pray and hope that OTK will deliver what he says. OTK is seen as different from all this while observation and many are believed to like that kind of gutsy action striker and it is hoped that may be , just may be he will walk the talk and perhaps go beyond. If that is the case it is believed that the chinese will rally behind him in an effort to resussitate the party. Unless something different from the previous president is the mode of operation the chinese are not convinced. So cross your figure and see what the man is what he says he is. For now it a little premature but the chinese have been patient but do not drive patience to a limit or else kick your head against the brick wall for landing.

  18. J4MAL,

End of money politcs??!! MCA members are talking about ANG POW FLYING in Feb. Hence election in MArch...... I hope it is rumors. That is why some support LTL &Co to have election soonest possible and not wait till AP distributed.

As for the action plans - put up the plan and expected results and the milestones and who is responsible.

  19. For the past, no doubt MCA has sadden Chinese in many aspects. But now is even worst, some MCA leaders tend to topple OTK bent openly to Arm No leaders to seek their blessing. So before we expect MCA to do what we want, first thing is to get rid of these "poki" MCA leaders who at the end sell our interest to Arm No. Who are these MCA leaders everybody know but now we open our eye and see how some MCA leaders react with this kind of motive ?

  20. Very encouraging, Veteran MCA, we cannot afford the party to be derailed by traitorous leaders and to ensure that MCA plab for the new year is carried out intact there is no room to accomodate the three stooges, who have managed somewhat spoilt the good name of MCA. Action must be taken to do what is best according to theparty constitution and the self esteem of the Party.
