Liow ropes in sacked MCA deputy ministers

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 24, 2010): The MCA deputy ministers who were dropped from the party's presidential council last year have been absorbed into the Chinese guilds and associations consultative bureau under the leadership of renegade vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Liow told the Press today after meeting grassroots leaders that the presidential council will not able to play its role effectively without the participation of the deputy ministers in question.
"As the bureau chief, I have been keeping contact with the Chinese associations and we would like to contribute more for the community.

"Therefore I have decided to appoint the five deputy ministers to my bureau to deal with problems faced by the community," he said.

Asked whether the appointments made was the result of the reshuffle of the presidential council, Liow said: "You (reporters) can interpret."

On Nov 18 last year, party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat announced the reshuffling of the central committee, which he was empowered, under the party constitution, to appoint and remove any member of the council.

The members removed were: Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong (Deputy Education Minister), Wanita chief Datuk Paduka Chew Mei Fun (Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister), ex-organising secretary Yoo Wei How, ex-deputy organising secretary Gan Hong Su, ex-MCA Information chief Lee Wei Kiat, Deputy Higher Education Minister Dr Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Wee Jeck Seng and central committee (CC) member Wong Nai Chee.

All nine leaders, who were aligned to Liow who was pushing for fresh polls to end the party crisis, were replaced with Ong loyalists.

The decision had drawn criticism from many quarters, including some party veterans.

Liow also said the party had fixed a meeting with all Chinese association representatives on Friday but it would clash with the CC meeting scheduled for the same day.

He said he hoped all MCA ministers and deputy ministers will be able to attend the meeting between the party and Chinese associations and postpone the CC meeting because it was not easy to get all the association representatives to agree to meet on the same date.

On the coming CC meeting, he said he had spoken too much about having fresh polls and told everyone to wait for the outcome of the meeting. -- theSun

  1. Liow and his gangsters are regrouping for another fight. Kill them before they make any more trouble. Hang then or shoot them. Bury them once and for all. Dont let them celebrate Chinese new year.

  4. J4OTK,

It appears the brutuses are still creating nuisance.

I shall recall CSL did mention that if the brutuses do have the support of members and insist on having a fresh election, they can collect signatures to call for and EGM.

I also cannot understand why the Youth Committees are fearful of having fresh elections. But they are calling for fresh elections for CCs. Why the double standards in the party.

Good Luck to them ! They could only get 547 delegates to attend their special briefing with all those money thrown in . Do you think they can still collect enough delegates signatures to call for another EGM ? they must be dreaming .
Those delegates who sign for them are just like the 61 yr old woman in this case .

KUALA LUMPUR - A 61-year-old housewife from Cheras has been cheated of RM250,000 after she was made to believe that she was plagued by bad luck.

MCA Public Service and Complaints Bureau chief Michael Chong said the mother of four was shopping at the Taman Cheras Market on Monday when she was approached by three women, believed to be Chinese nationals.

"Two of the women had feigned interest in finding a bomoh (shaman) to get rid of their bad luck," Bernama quoted him as saying.

"Another woman came by claiming to be a middleman for the bomoh and declared that the victim was also suffering from bad luck and should undergo treatment, or else she would die in three days," said Chong at his office here today.

    Taken in by empty promise

The housewife, having fallen for the woman's promise to help in exchange for personal items such as cash and jewellery, withdrew RM186,565 from two banks and gathered jewellery amounting to RM70,000 from home, before meeting the woman at a temple in Cheras for the cleansing ritual, he said.

Upon arrival, the woman said the bomoh was unable to make it but had left a plastic bag containing items to rid victim's misfortune, which was not to be opened until the following day, before taking the cash and jewellery.

The next day, the victim lodged a report with the police and MCA office after her shock of finding three oranges, a loaf of bread, a bottle of mineral water and a packet of salt in the plastic bag.

Chong said 14 similar cases had been reported since 2004, involving losses of almost RM1mil.
