A blogger who has been highly critical of Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and his administration, was shocked to discover that the rear windscreen of his Nissan X-trail had been smashed with an axe.
Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz, who runs the popular blog 'Kickdafella', told Malaysiakini that the incident happened around 11pm yesterday at his house in Demit, Kota Bharu.
"I was mixing a drink in the kitchen when I heard a loud noise outside. I looked out of the window and saw a car parked in front of the house,” he said.
Syed Azidi filed a police report about midnight.
He said he had seen a grey Proton Wira Aeroback parked opposite his house and had stepped out to provide assistance, as he thought that the car had been involved in an accident.
“Just (then), the driver did a U-turn and stopped the car right in front of my house. This scared me so I rushed indoors,” he said in the police report, adding that he did not note the registration number.
He later found the rear windshield of his vehicle shattered and a 30cm-long steel axe located approximately 2m away. Damage is estimated at RM3,700 at least.
Syed Azidi said he believes the attack was “politically-motivated and followed several (recent) blog postings”, but declined to elaborate as investigations are underway.
In a posting today, he said he was informed that certain parties are unhappy about his writings.
“I was earlier told by a politician that a certain party is looking for me and is threatening to beat me up because of my blog posting which have been critical to the Kelantan MB's family and a certain private company,” he wrote.
Cutting remarks
One posting includes cutting remarks about his former boss Abdul Ariffahmi Ab Razak and wife Nik Amalina - a daughter of Nik Aziz. They were accused of being “cowards” for not facing up to state executive council member Husam Musa at a recent meeting.
The blogger, however, maintained that he is a strong supporter of Husam and that he remains loyal to Nik Aziz.
Syed Azidi was sacked as corporate liaison officer with state-owned company PMBK last November, in a move allegedly linked to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission probe against Mohd Arifffahmi (right) which began that month.
Mohd Ariffahmi has refuted this claim, saying that Syed Azidi was sacked for disciplinary reasons.
Mohd Ariffahmi, who joined PMBK in 2008 and was promoted as chief executive officer last October, resigned the following month following pressure from many, including top PAS officials.
He maintained that his resignation was not an admission of guilt, but a show of respect and loyalty to his father-in-law, who had been accused of practicing cronyism in the appointment.
Siapa lagi , saya percaya orang yang baling tapak itu ia lah orang PAS , tak ade orang lain . seratus percent PAS , orang Islam kutuk orang Islam .
